Reborn After Betrayal: The Frail True Princess Decides to Give Up
Chapter 157 : Obsessed Female Elf
The carriage traveled leisurely along the road and arrived at the entrance of Cassia Cathedral.
Celitia got off the carriage and walked to the fountain by the church square.
During her days staying at the church, Celitia had often fed pigeons here and was quite familiar with the area.
Looking around at the people coming and going, Celitia clearly felt that there were more believers coming to worship.
As if knowing what Celitia was thinking, Kassy's voice sounded from behind her:
"Master, do you also feel that the church has become much livelier?"
Not far from Celitia, Kassy was holding a broom, sweeping the fallen leaves scattered on the stone bricks into a pile.
Due to the previous incident, Kassy had been badly frightened and, wanting to cling to Ariel's protection, had been spending more time at the church.
Ariel couldn't stand seeing Kassy idle around, so she simply assigned her some work, making her responsible for cleaning the fountain square.
Raising her hand to wipe non-existent sweat from her forehead, Kassy abandoned the unfinished leaves and walked toward Celitia with her broom.
"These past two days, many nobles have rushed here from other places, gathering in Cassia, so even the number of people coming to the church for worship has increased considerably."
Kassy lowered her voice and said mysteriously, "Does Master know why this is?"
Celitia replied faintly: "Because of Queen Marianne's birthday ball."
"It seems Master's information is quite well-informed." Kassy showed a smile and said gently, "Then Master should also know that the purpose of holding this ball is to find a spouse for Princess Sophia, right?"
Even Kassy was paying attention to this matter.
A few indescribable feelings of irritation rose in her chest, and Celitia lowered her eyes, her voice slightly heavy: "I know."
Kassy carefully observed her reaction, trying to find clues from the girl's expression.
Gradually, Kassy felt she had grasped something.
"Princess Sophia is a princess after all. She has her responsibilities, just like Master once had responsibilities she couldn't let go of."
Kassy swayed her waist gracefully and walked to Celitia's side.
"The Princess is like the sun hanging high in the sky, while people like us can only look up at her."
Celitia remained silent.
Kassy felt even more confident that she had grasped Celitia's thoughts.
She must still be feeling lost and disappointed about Sophia's situation.
Since Sophia was destined to leave and the position beside Master would become vacant, wasn't this exactly her opportunity?
"It's alright, Master."
Kassy casually tossed the broom aside and opened her arms, wanting to embrace the girl.
"Even if Princess Sophia leaves, Kassy will always stay by Master's side, ready to lend her shoulder for Master to rely on—Ouch!"
Before she could finish speaking, Kassy let out an unexpected cry of pain.
Celitia had taken the broom and blocked it in front of Kassy, stopping her movement and hitting her hard on the head with the broom handle.
"Shut up and go sweep your ground."
Forcibly stuffing the broom into Kassy's arms, Celitia turned around without hesitation and walked into the church.
Only Kassy was left standing in place, rubbing her head while gazing longingly at her retreating figure.
Kassy knew Master's tendency to say one thing while meaning another all too well.
Once Sophia found her other half, with Celitia's personality, she would definitely quietly leave without disturbing her.
When that time came, wouldn't her opportunity arrive?
She would definitely make Master belong to her, body and soul.
Lost in her obsessive thoughts, Kassy cupped her face in her hands and giggled, as if living in a beautiful dream, unwilling to wake up.
She completely failed to notice that people around her were looking at her like she was crazy.
Entering the church, Celitia didn't follow the crowd to the main hall for worship.
She left the crowd, turned a corner, and walked deeper along the corridor.
On the side of the main hall was a rest room for believers to take temporary breaks. The door was open, and faint tea fragrance drifted out from inside.
Kassy's words echoed in her ears again.
Celitia certainly knew that Kassy's words weren't wrong.
She just didn't want to listen, didn't want to think about it.
The emotions she had barely suppressed rose from her chest once again, and that indescribable irritation made Celitia feel restless.
Supporting herself against the window sill, Celitia took a deep breath, letting the cool air from outside fill her nostrils and gradually sink into her lungs.
She couldn't think about it anymore.
Continuing to think would only make her more of an emotional captive. When she was sufficiently calm, she would definitely be able to control her heart.
She should go find Ariel first, and after the routine check-up, return early to rest.
Just as Celitia was about to leave, someone called out from behind her: "Miss Celitia?"
Turning around, Celitia saw a familiar face—Sister Grela, who had participated in relief activities together.
"Ah, we haven't seen each other for several days, Miss Celitia," Sister Grela was quite enthusiastic. "Are you tired after worship? Would you like to come in and rest for a while?"
"I'm here to find the Saintess," Celitia replied.
"The Saintess? Recently there have been many believers coming to the church, and she seems very busy. I haven't seen much of her all day..."
Sister Grela walked over and took Celitia's hand, not letting go. "Even if you go looking for her now, you probably won't find her. Why don't you come sit for a while first?"
"Uh, alright..."
Unable to resist Sister Grela's enthusiasm, Celitia had no choice but to follow her into the rest room.
Sister Grela went to make tea for her, and Celitia sat alone on a bench. She saw two nobles by the coffee table in front, each holding a cup of black tea and quietly discussing something.
She heard the red-haired noble say:
"About a week left, right? Queen Marianne's birthday ball will officially begin."
"Yes," the black-haired noble nodded. "I hurried here early just to leave a good impression on Queen Marianne."
"Leave a good impression? I say, Aiden, don't you have any higher aspirations than that?"
The red-haired noble couldn't help but sneer. "Haven't you heard the news that Marianne is looking for a spouse for Princess Sophia?"
Seeing these two nobles also discussing the news that was spreading throughout the city, Celitia couldn't help but lower her head. Though she appeared indifferent, her ears secretly perked up.
Even though she didn't want to listen in her heart, she couldn't help but care.
The black-haired noble named Aiden shrugged:
"Bren, we're just minor barons. With our status, shouldn't we stop fantasizing about the Princess?"
"How can you say that? People should have some dreams." Bren was very disdainful. "Think about Queen Marianne's background—she became queen, so what's impossible?"
