CHAPTER 1444: BEATRIZ’S TERRIBLE EXPLANATIONS

As we looked at the faraway wilderness while finishing to evolve the Dream Weapons, Beatriz was summoned outside, which was going to be our guide through here.

Of course, if she even knows this place to begin with!

And that’s why we decided to ask her as soon as she showed up, if anybody could ever know of this place, it would be her.

And if she didn’t, then we would be forced to just explore it and try to find if there’s even anything in here that could lead us to the Nightmare Demons.

"W-What do you... meow want?" She wondered angrily, looking around with her tiny, spiritual cat-like body, she had the grumpiness of cat even before taking the form of one to camouflage with everyone else.

"Nyah?! W-What is this place?!" However, the moment she saw her surroundings, she gasped in disbelief, looking around in surprise at the immense, ancient landscape before us. It was indeed awe inspiring for anybody that saw it for the first time.

Who would have thought that something of this size and caliber was hiding right beneath our noses? Perhaps this might also be the reason why there are so many islands with so many Nightmare Fields, right?

"Don’t tell me you don’t know either?" I asked, looking at her while crossing my arms.

"Uh, I mean... Hmm..." She groaned, trying to remember something.

"This is apparently some sort of ancient underground world... Like a Hollow Earth type thing. Have you seen those movies before?" I asked, looking at her rubbing her forehead with her cute paws.

"We found this hole after a giant Nightmare Beast Kaiju broke the surface of the island." I continued explaining. "It was a huge Godzilla-like dude! But it wasn’t that hard to beat, or maybe I’m just way too strong, hahah!"

"Eeh..." She looked at me with an annoyed expression, as if trying to remember. "Uh, I..."

"Oh yeah! And then hundreds of giant Nightmaresaurs appeared, swarming us after that!" Nyx said, as Beatriz only looked her more confused than anything.

"Nightmare... saurs? What the hell is that supposed to be?" Beatriz asked annoyedly. "Hmm..."

"Beatriz, don’t you know anything about this place?" Nyx asked. "Umm, is it related with your dad’s castle perhaps? Please remember anything, we really need some clues!"

Beatriz looked at Nyx and felt slightly moved by her cuteness, if she asked her so politely, even a Nightmare Demon like Beatriz would feel obligated to help out.

That was the rule of cuteness after all!

"Huh? Wait a moment...!"

Suddenly, Beatriz, who had fallen silent while looking around half-asleep, opened her eyes wide, fully awake, and also... remembering something.

"T-This place..." Although she seemed confused at first, it seemed she had finally begun to remember. "Yeah... I’ve been here before- Not exactly where I’m standing right now, but... in this jungle. In this enormous place, which felt as if we were in the surface, but not really."

These were amazing news! So she did remember!

"You do? Nice!" I said happily. "So? Do you know more about this place? Like, what’s called? How did it originate or if the Nightmare Demons live here?"

"Gosh, so many damn questions, Maria, keep it down, I still am sleepy..." groaned the grumpy black cat nightmare demon. "This place... it’s called the Ancient Nightmare Field."

"Ancient Nightmare Field?" Nyx asked. "I guess it doesn’t have that original of a name, huh?"

"I-I didn’t gave it a name myself!" Beatriz groaned. "Look, this is very ancient, and I think it was my father that called it this way..."

"Your father?" Partner asked her. "So you remember him in here? With you?"

"Could you try remembering more, for us?" Emeraldine asked with a gentle smile.

"I-I am not doing this out of goodwill ok? This is just because I don’t have any other choice either way..." Beatriz sighed. "Okay, so listen. I visited this place with my father and my family when I was just a newborn."

"A newborn?!" Nia wondered. "Wait, really? With monsters of this caliber roaming everywhere? That is so cruel..."

"That’s how we do it in here, the Nightmare Demons are cruel by nature, we are reckless and also greedy, and even more ruthless with our own children. Technically, this is all human’s fault, we are embodiments of their worst fears, traits, emotions, and nightmares." Beatriz said nonchalantly.

"Anyway, when my dad got me here, I was told to hunt to survive and then get back home through a Gate... Back then I was with my other siblings, I had over thirty of them, more than half died in this land, but those that survived alongside me become members of the higher ups, commanding over other Nightmare Demons," she explained.

"Huh, so I guess this wasn’t for every Nightmare Demon then?" Jonathan wondered. "It’s indeed a ruthless practice, but as you said, it might be ingrained within your culture or even your instincts..."

"Yeah, yeah..." Beatriz sighed. "Ah right! And there’s a Gate inside a Mountain, I remember that!"

"Inside a mountain? Which mountain?" Emeraldine wondered, looking around. "There are so many in here."

"Wait, wait, hold on a second," I said. "So you were dropped here with your siblings in the past by your father, the current Nightmare Demon King, correct?"

"Yes..." Beatriz nodded.

"So that means this place could be close where the Castle is, right?" I wondered. "Just what is this place, and its connection with the place you came from?"

"Hmm, it’s a little complicated, but I suppose I could explain it to you," Beatriz said. "Imagine the world like a big bun, okay? The big bun has a delicious curry flavored filling. Hmm, and now I’m hungry. Anyway, what was I saying? Ah yeah, imagine the world as a big doughnut with chocolate on top- Oh wow, that sounds really nice. Ah! Okay, so the doughnut it filled with... delicious custard cream. And... and there’s the hole in the middle, so that’s where all the negative energy goes and it created like... a hole in space, this hole distorted its surrounding area, but the range of its distortion is actually not that big at first, so only the interior was reshaped... and that’s how this place was born. Get it?"

"Eh?"

We could barely understand what she was even trying to say.
