[You acquired the Title Skill: Necroterra’s Guardian and Savior Lv1.]
[By defeating and subjugating Necroterra’s ruler, you have inherited its Divine Throne.]
[You have obtained the Divine Throne of Zombies, Infections, and Diseases (Necroterra).]
"Haha, not bad! I got a ton of bonus stats. This is a total win for me. And those two new skills look pretty interesting. What do they do?"
Maria examined the newly acquired abilities. The first, Mutagenic Zombie Virus Creation, allowed her to generate the virus from her own body and modify it using Mana, Spirit Energy, and Nether.
The second skill depended on the first. It only affected zombies infected by the virus, enabling her to mutate them further and guide their evolution.
As for the title, like other Savior Skills, it boosted her stats within Necroterra and deepened her connection to the world, allowing her to sense disturbances.
But the most surprising reward was the Divine Throne itself. Apparently, the Zombie Mother Queen had been carrying it all along.
"For now, I want you to create a massive field where we can produce mutated Undead using your virus and my necromancy," Maria said. "Here, take these Undead of mine. I’ve modified the virus so it can infect non-living beings by feeding on their Mana and converting it into Nether to empower them."
Maria shared the altered virus strand with the Mother Queen, who absorbed it and began synthesizing it within her body.
Simultaneously, she released a black and red ooze from her jaws, spreading it across several kilometers. The Hive Insectoids, chosen for the first experiments, entered the area and were promptly infected.
Soon, they began mutating, groaning in discomfort as their bodies sprouted fleshy tendrils, veins, extra limbs, and eyes. Their forms grew increasingly grotesque—but this was only the beginning.
They entered large cocoons crafted by the Queen’s psychic powers and began metamorphosis. The process demanded immense energy and resources, but Necroterra had plenty. Maria sacrificed a few thousand of the billions of zombies to fuel it.
Additional "small fry zombies" would be produced by the massive colonies Maria planned to build. The Hive Princess, now an Undead and the only one spared, was designed to lay infected eggs. These would serve as fuel for the process. Maria also intended to create more minor queens to scale production.
It felt like a grotesque resource management game. She began establishing zones, drawing resources and spirit treasures from her Soul Realm to support the effort. Forests of Bone Trees, Necrotic Trees, and gardens of Blood, Poison, and Moonlight Flowers stretched across kilometers.
She also harvested and refined new herbs and materials, including mutated plants with fleshy traits and hundreds of new species. Each produced specks of Nether, Blood Energy, and Lifeforce—valuable components she used to cultivate vast gardens and farms.
Meanwhile, Lucifer, Emeraldine, and Partner watched in awe as Maria transformed the land into a factory of resources and Undead.
The Zombie Lords, summoned earlier, became the farmers and gardeners of this burgeoning world.
Tireless and versatile, they helped modify and enhance the virus with their own mutated strains, proving immensely useful.
Maria even considered letting them mate with the new Hive Queen—formerly a Princess—to create stronger Undead. That, however, would wait until she departed.
Her plans might seem wicked, even repulsive to most, but Maria was an Outer Goddess and a Necromancer. This was her nature.
"Alright! Whew, that was a lot of work," Maria sighed, wiping sweat from her brow. "I’ve left Phantom Clones and other mechanisms in place to ensure production and mutations continue to improve over time."
"What in the world are you trying to build that needs this much investment?" Lucifer asked.
"I told you already. I’m going to create the strongest Undead Army," Maria replied with a shrug. "One capable of leveling entire worlds as we ascend the upper floors and battle Olympus and the rest."
"I... I suppose that’s a good reason," Emeraldine said with a smile. "Wow, the lifeforce of this world is fading. Will the humans be alright?"
"Don’t worry. This area is isolated," Maria assured her. "I’ve placed an atmospheric barrier using my new Divine Throne. It’s quite fascinating—I can control diseases and infections, even reverse their effects. I can create a healing disease that restores an area, allowing green plants to flourish and boosting immunity."
"Oh wow, that sounds amazing! Even if I don’t understand half of it," Emeraldine nodded. "As long as they have a place to thrive, I think it’s fine. It’s clear they don’t want to leave their home."
"I know," Maria said. "Eventually, I might relocate this entire zone to another continent. We’ll see how things develop. For now, let’s head back to the Survivors Camp and meet everyone. I think it’s time for lunch, then we can continue."
