Chapter 748: The Twins’ Journey
CHAPTER 748: CHAPTER 748: THE TWINS’ JOURNEY
Knowing about their great wishes for their people and their homeland made her feel compelled to help them. Thus, Seraphina as well.
However, due to her status, Arabella needed a good justification, hence why she had to ask Seraphina to provide a good reason why she should act.
{Fine. Fine. I knew you would do something anyway.} Alwin relented when he knew Arabella had already made up her mind.
[She also helped all those needy people who came to ask her for help. I shouldn’t get in the way when she’s trying to be good. This is better than her plotting to raze Riva again.] Alwin internally said to himself.
’It’s not like I was born evil! I was just gullible and was led astray!’ Arabella wanted to counter but just kept it in.
Princess Seraphina was prepared to speak so she focused on the latter.
"Thank you very much, Your Majesty. I believe the information I will provide would be invaluable to you," the princess sighed in relief once Arabella had sworn a sacred oath.
Emily, Jacob, and Harold were visibly delighted and relieved as well.
"Then, please enlighten me of your situation and what it is that I need to know before the war," Arabella urged the princess to continue.
"For Your Majesty to understand the entire situation, I would like to begin from me and my brother’s story and why we want change for Crux."
Princess Seraphina then relayed a more detailed story about why she and her twin were different to most nobles in Crux.
Seraphina and Sebastian were both born to the late Queen Samantha of Crux. Their mother was their father’s first wife and was from one of the most powerful families in Crux, Alba Household.
However, when Seraphina and Sebastian were six, their mother was assassinated by someone from the second wife who was now the current Queen of Crux, Queen Trista of the Ruela Household.
The Alba and Ruela Household had been fighting for power and Samantha becoming Queen made them more powerful. Thus, the Ruela Household devised her demise by killing her and replacing her with Trista.
The twins were supposed to die with their mother but their mother’s most loyal servant saved them by making them wear commoners’ clothes and bringing them to a small boat.
The said servant made the boat float downstream to the commoners’ area before running off to leave false traces.
Unfortunately, their mother’s loyal servant was killed by their pursuers while Sebastian and Seraphina could do nothing but watch in horror as the boat floated downstream and they were hidden by the tall grasses.
The twins were found by the couple Emily and Jacob. Since two children were traumatized by everything they witnessed, they were unable to speak for years.
Emily and Jacob decided to raise the two as their children. They lived as a family for four years and it was where the twins experienced the life of commoners.
However, due to the increasing abuses of the nobles and the cruel treatment to slaves, the couple became a part of a revolutionary group who wanted to stand against the cruelty of the nobles.
And one day, the couple discovered that the twins were the missing royals. They immediately knew the two were not supposed to be alive so they quickly relocated to hide them from Queen Trista and the Ruela Household
However, Harold who was a loyal knight of the late Queen Samantha and the Alba Household managed to find and return them back home to reunite with their father.
Emily and Jacob were blamed by Queen Trisha to have abducted Sebastian and Seraphina. Thus, they were about to be sentenced to death but in the heat of the situation, the twins were finally able to speak again and defended their saviors.
Their father then allowed Emily and Jacob to remain by the twins’ side knowing that they would not hurt the two after raising them as their own for four years.
Emily and Jacob were labeled as the twins’ slaves by other people but they remained to share close bonds behind closed doors.
For their safety, the couple told Sebastian and Seraphina to pretend not to recall anything about the day they went missing so that Queen Trisha and the Ruela household would not try to kill them again.
They also informed their father about the truth of their mother’s death.
The King was furious at the truth he learned and wanted to punish Trista. However, doing so would mean making the entire Ruela Household an enemy of the royal family.
Thus, their father could not get justice for Sebastian and Seraphina since there was no other proof aside from their words.
Likewise, the King had already had more children with Queen Trisha and the Ruela Household had already grown too powerful.
Still, their father tried to protect them by allowing people they trust to be able to remain by their side.
However, when they still got assassination attempts from Ruela, the twins had no choice but to ask Harold and their mother’s household to protect them since what Emily and Jacob could do were limited behind closed doors.
Now, the Ruela Household was more powerful than the Alba Household with Trista remaining as the Queen of Crux and had given birth to two sons and two daughters.
Queen Trista’s first-born son was already declared as the heir of Crux as the Ruela Household and their allies insisted that the birth of twins in the royal family was unlucky especially since the other twin, Seraphina, was female.
Both Sebastian and Seraphina were stripped of their right to the throne and were instead set to be married off outside the kingdom to ensure the Alba Household loses power and the twins never get a chance for the throne.
Seraphina and Sebastian were fine with it at first. However, they could not cast aside the people they had become close with.
The twins treated commoners well and did not like calling Emily and Jacob as slaves or treating them like one.
