Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 805: Stay Inside the Barrier
CHAPTER 805: CHAPTER 805: STAY INSIDE THE BARRIER
Oscar believed this was part of their duty as her assistant especially since she even tried to protect them from this.
[I don’t want to see it but everyone wants to. But after what I saw last night, I’m also curious what could be worse than that. Just how bad is it really?]
Narcissa was scared but her curiosity was also killing her after she saw the rescued Prudencians in the third step.
Meanwhile, the others were all curious as well and would rather see for themselves than have their imaginations torture them.
They also wanted to see what Arabella herself had seen.
They wanted to be like Ivan, Nadia, and Odette whom Arabella could entrust with other tasks aside from the usual in the office without worrying that it might be too much for them.
Arabella was glad they all had the courage to step out of their comfort zones so she concluded she had to respond in turn and let them see what the rescued Prudencians looked like in the first step.
She also included her maids for them to be aware why she had to work hard everyday reviewing and signing as many documents as she could and why she does not spend her monthly allowance carelessly.
"I have asked His Eminence to use a spell so none of us will be visible to the rescued Prudencians," Arabella explained.
She was worried about what kind of expression her assistants would make upon seeing the rescue Prudencians so she asked for this setup.
The rescued Prudencians had been through a lot so they would be sensitive to facial expressions everyone around them makes.
Thus, since her assistants would likely be shocked, she had asked for a barrier from Alwin.
It also serves as protection in case someone pretends to be a Prudencian to infiltrate and try to harm them.
The nobles must have become wary after all the Prudencians they were hiding in several locations had suddenly gone missing.
"Remain behind this line. Only Nadia is allowed to go out," Arabella instructed.
Nadia was here to do her work interviewing the rescued Prudencians and consolidating the records.
"Yes, Your Majesty," her assistants replied obediently.
Arabella then glanced at her maids and said, "The same goes for you. Except for Blanca, all of you will remain behind this line."
"Yes, Your Majesty," all her maids replied as well.
"Blanca, remember your role. In case His Eminence and the other magician’s run out of mana, you have to help in healing. In the worst case that recovery potions are not enough and there are still people in critical condition to heal, you will get Dimo to help us well. Do not forget his blindfold," Arabella reminded Blanca of their plan.
[She knows how to use magic?!!] Everyone who thought Blanca was just Alwin’s fiancee and a noble from an old fallen house were surprised to hear she could use magic too.
"Yes, Your Majesty," Blanca said with determined eyes. She was ready to help as well.
Blanca had already seen wars much worse in her time so she was also fine. After all, she also knew of what happened in Safiro.
Arabella did not want Dimo to be involved in this but if they had no choice, she would have. But she had him wear a blindfold so she would not see the state everyone was in.
Dimo had gotten better in healing spells since Alwin and the others had focused on teaching him such instead of offensive magic.
Alwin himself said that when it comes to control and precision in a lot of spells, Dimo was even better than Blanca now.
Arabella had spoken with Dimo several days ago and he was more than willing to participate to test his skills.
Rather, Dimo repeatedly asked to participate but Arabella forbade it unless it was totally necessary due to circumstances.
He was still young so as much as possible, she did not want to expose him to these things yet. Thus, even when circumstances demanded it, she had asked him to wear a blindfold to cover his eyes. And he was not allowed to remove it.
A capable knight was assigned to guide and protect him in case he was called in.
"Unless you want to die by His Majesty’s hand, you are not allowed to leave Her Majesty’s side until I return," Alwin warned Zion, who was here to guard Arabella while Alwin did his task.
"I know. You don’t have to remind me, little brat," Zion patted Alwin’s head like he was a child.
[This brat sure is getting ahead of himself just because he has grown tall now. I have allowed him to replace me since he was throwing a fit, now he’s even ordering me around. Hays. He’s still a kid so I should be forgiving. Telling His Majesty to increase his training time should be enough punishment.] Zion thought.
Zion was about Raymond’s age so he was one of Alwin’s elders.
From his thoughts, Arabella learned that he was supposed to be the one to come here in Valeria as Ferdinand’s magician but Alwin insisted on replacing him.
Alwin insisted repeatedly and kept wanting to be useful.
Thus, his elders could not disappoint Alwin who was still a child in their eyes so they gave in to his demand.
"Tsk," Alwin could not talk back much since Zion was his elder and owed his current position in Valeria thanks to Zion backing down.
[Is he a relative of His Eminence? They somehow share a bit of the same aura.]
[Who is he?! He just called the all-powerful master of this Magic Tower a brat?!] Arabella’s assistants and maids wondered.
Arabella chuckled and Alwin glared at her.
"Your Majesty, do not ever get out of this line no matter what. You are to stay within my protective barrier here unless you are brought to safety elsewhere due to the circumstances," Alwin reminded her.
He nagged at her to let out some steam since he could not talk back to Zion.
{Remember that you are forbidden to die if our plans are to work.} Alwin added.
