Chapter 818: Still Hiding Something Else
CHAPTER 818: CHAPTER 818: STILL HIDING SOMETHING ELSE
However, since Alwin was too prideful and did not want to admit he needed help, he made it seem like it was simply out of curiosity of the new kind of weapon he encountered.
"I see. Then, it was to save someone," Raymond and Zion nodded in understanding, now regretting that they scolded Alwin a lot.
Alwin could have saved himself the scolding if just admitted the truth right from the start.
Even Blanca now looked guilty for acting rudely earlier because she thought Alwin truly just did it out of curiosity and for his experiment.
"Then where is Lady Emily now? She has to take the antidote immediately or she will die. That poison affects everyone who uses magic," Raymond said.
"You have an antidote?" Alwin inquired.
Raymond glanced at Zion and said, "He has. It took a lot of time to study it but an antidote was successfully made after it killed a lot of the long lived races in the Great War."
Arabella learned another new history lesson in their conversation. One of the things that killed a lot of the long-lived races during the Great War was poison and this was one of it.
"Where is she? We need to give it to her now," Zion said, ready to teleport to which room it was.
"I’ll give it to her myself. You should head to the battlefield now. The magicians there must have also used necromancy," Alwin said.
However he was not looking Zion in the eye.
[Why is he not meeting my gaze?]
[Is he still hiding something?]
Zion and Raymond noticed as well.
{Should I hand it to him and leave?} Zion asked Raymond.
{No, he’s still hiding something. He doesn’t seem to want us to see Lady Emily. There must be something else.} Raymond replied.
"There are steps needed to be followed before it is taken. There’s no time to teach you now. I must attend to her first before I depart or else she dies with the poison," Zion said and Alwin gulped.
[What should I do? They might recognize the spell I used.]
Alwin hesitated and was lost in thought for a few seconds.
Zion and Raymond exchanged glances as Alwin’s actions confirmed that he was indeed still hiding something.
[The mana Raymond gave me is enough so I can perform the spell to undo it but I cannot remove the spell before we enter the room since she might die from the poison. I don’t know how long Zion would take too before giving her the antidote. If I undo it first, she might die.]
Alwin continued to ponder with a conflicted face.
’What spell did he use that he has to hide it from his elders?’ Arabella wondered.
She could tell Alwin that Zion and Raymond had noticed his actions were suspicious but Arabella did not know yet whom she should side with.
What if Alwin used a dangerous spell?
[Please don’t tell Alwin, Your Majesty. Alwin might be hiding something that he knew he would be scolded about again so it must be something dangerous.] Raymond thought, knowing that Arabella heard his thoughts.
"What are you hesitating for? Time is of the essence," Raymond said to Alwin.
Alwin bit his lip and finally replied, "Alright, I’ll bring her here."
[I hope they don’t recognize the spell. I’ll silently undo it if they do not notice.]
Alwin then flicked his fingers and in a second, Emily was with them lying unconscious on a bed. He had this much control of the Magic Tower if he wanted to.
Arabella and Blanca gasped since Emily looked like she was not breathing anymore.
However, Zion, Raymond, and Rendell noticed something else.
"This spell is...?!!"
[She’s frozen in time!]
Alwin’s elders glanced at each other already knowing what was going on.
Arabella did not understand what they meant but it must be why Emily did not look like she was breathing but her skin tone told them she was still alive.
[They recognized it?!] Alwin tensed at the reaction of his elders.
"Alwin, how did you know about this spell?" Raymond inquired.
[His Majesty had hidden all forbidden scrolls and books in his domain so Alwin could have not found it there.]
{Did you have any scrolls or books with you about this in Estrella?} Raymond asked Zion.
{No. All resources I have about this were also hidden by His Majesty.} Zion replied.
[Then, where would Alwin read about this?]
Raymond and Zion had the same thought as they eyed the unconscious Emily and was sure the spell was right.
"Alwin, don’t tell me you sneaked into the forbidden section of the library in the Overseer’s palace?" Zion eyed Alwin incredulously.
"No, I asked The Overseer to teach me about this," Alwin raised both hands at the looks his elders were giving him.
"He taught you about this?" Raymond asked in disbelief.
"He did. I asked him to teach me and he gave me a book. He taught me the specifics after I understood the book," Alwin desperately explained himself so he won’t get scolded again.
"The Overseer does like Alwin a lot. But would he really agree to teach Alwin a forbidden spell like this?" Zion pondered out loud.
"But spells like these were forbidden due to its cost and possible side effects," Rendell was confused as well.
Arabella learned from their thoughts that Ferdinand and everyone else did not teach Alwin spells like these since it required the use of the caster’s mana core. One for casting it on the person to be frozen in time and another one for undoing the spell.
Meaning, Alwin had already lost a mana core for this and would lose another soon.
Since the long-lived races’ population had greatly dwindled, spells like this were prohibited after the Great War since it might lead their younger generation to death.
"Do you know how dangerous this is? It takes too many risks to use this. And yet, you used it while you are low on mana?" Raymond eyed Alwin seriously.
Another scolding might just be coming for him.
