Reborn as a Mind-Reading Empress
Chapter 820: It Did Not Feel Right to Simply Watch
CHAPTER 820: CHAPTER 820: IT DID NOT FEEL RIGHT TO SIMPLY WATCH
Thus, their decision to protect Alwin was not only for him but for themselves as well as their people.
"You do know that your mana cores are very important, right?" Raymond reminded Alwin.
Under his elders’ scrutinizing gaze, Alwin replied, "I know. But I just used this spell since it felt like she would die if I didn’t. It didn’t feel right to just watch her die there when I could still do something to save her."
Zion and Raymond glanced at Emily.
[She would die indeed since this poison is especially lethal to magicians which is why it’s usually used against the long-lived races.]
[Since they are our allies, it is only right to try to save her. But not at the cost of his mana cores.]
Using mana cores to save someone had become a target to fool and use the long-lived races for their cores. Many had fallen prey to such tricks only to realize they were not truly loved but simply used.
Thus, using one’s mana core to save people was prohibited and was limited to one’s mate, family, or very important people in the caster’s life.
{Alwin knows about His Majesty using mana cores to save him when he was a child. He must have been reminded about it.} Rendell said to Zion and Raymond.
{Ah, I see. Then, that must be it.}
{This was exactly why Alwin was not supposed to know about that.}
To Alwin who had such high standards for himself, letting someone die in front of him would weigh heavily on his conscience since he was someone who was saved by random kindness.
Most especially since he was just a stranger to Ferdinand when he saved him with a lot of his mana cores.
Zion and Raymond decided to stop for now at the look on Alwin’s face.
"Alright. It’s good that you are compassionate," Raymond let up.
"Let’s heal this lady first," Zion changed the topic.
Zion seemed to make something pop out of thin air as two bottles of potion appeared in his hands.
"Here, drink one for yourself too."
Zion gave Alwin one bottle since he did not get injured just to experiment out of curiosity.
He would have let Alwin suffer the after effects of the poison for a bit more to teach him a lesson if Alwin had not admitted it was because he wanted to find an antidote for Emily.
"Aren’t there specific steps to do first?" gullible Alwin asked.
"No. I just said that," Zion admitted and Alwin’s jaw dropped when he realized he was tricked.
[He just said it so they could question me?!] Alwin could not believe he fell for it so easily.
Zion laughed and said, "Alright, just drink that and undo the spell on the lady."
[Tsk. Fine. I should be grateful that he gave me an antidote and would heal Lady Emily. I won’t have to maintain the spell until I can make the antidote myself.]
Alwin sucked it up and just drank the antidote. He was wide-eyed as he felt it take effect.
"It’s so strong. This potion is several thousand years old?" Alwin eyed Zion incredulously.
"Yes, and it’s made with extremely rare ingredients so you better be grateful, brat," Zion grinned at the look of amazement on Alwin’s face.
"Thank you for the potion," Alwin genuinely thanked his elder.
[Haha. It’s been a while since he thanked me like this.]
Zion patted Alwin’s head and said, "Alright, undo the spell on the lady."
Alwin touched Emily’s wrist and closed his eyes to focus as he said a spell in his mind.
Emily’s body glowed with magic for a few seconds and once it was gone, Emily’s complexion darkened due to the poison.
Zion quickly opened Emily’s mouth and made her drink the potion.
Emily’s complexion gradually turned back to normal in a matter of seconds as the antidote worked its magic.
Her vitals returned to normal so Alwin teleported her back to the room Princess Seraphina was in so she would not panic when she wakes up.
Shortly after, Alwin coughed up blood once again.
"This is why that spell is forbidden. Did you also get permission from the Overseer to use it as you please?" Raymond said as he touched Alwin’s shoulder and shared some of his mana again.
Alwin had used up all the mana Raymond gave him earlier for the spell to undo the one on Emily.
He had used up another mana core too so it was taking a toll in his body.
"Yes, he agreed that I can use it as I deem fit," Alwin said after he wiped the blood off his mouth.
"I see. You are indeed favored by the Overseer. And much more than he let up for him to allow this," Raymond stopped transferring mana once Alwin had a better complexion.
"Be grateful that you are receiving mana so easily from a Great Elder Dragon," Zion reminded Alwin this was not something others had access to even if they waited for several millennia to receive it.
Yet, Raymond was sharing it so willing without Alwin even asking for it first.
"I am very much grateful," Alwin said politely but it was obvious in his face he still did not understand just how great of a blessing this was to him.
After all, he grew up with them taking care of him so even if he greatly respected them, he did not understand how for other long-lived races, it was hard for them to even meet them in person.
Raymond clearly did not mind though since Alwin was also like his first child just as much as he was like Ferdinand’s.
Zion did not mind either but just wanted to remind their Prince to be grateful of what he has.
In truth, Alwin barely needed their help most of the time so they actually were more than fine with helping him out when they had the chance.
"You should check on the battlefield at the borders now," Alwin reminded Zion so he would not receive another scolding from him anymore.
