CHAPTER 853: CHAPTER 853: LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE

"Life and death coexist. Allow death to exist or this world will have no meaning."

Ferdinand and the others were all against it at first.

But after eons passed and they went through a lot, and yet, never perished, they finally understood.

Life without death becomes meaningless.

All primordials understood this.

Their seemingly unlimited time made them bored with life and pushed them to chase after death instead.

Likewise, they needed to let other living beings fulfill their purpose and follow their fate.

Ferdinand understood this too after the ones he had tirelessly revived still left so they could move on to their next life.

In the past, they may have been able to delay it for some time, but eventually, life must go through death in order to live again.

Ferdinand and the other primordials will go through it as well someday.

The Dragon God had already assured them repeatedly, they would die in time if they just continued living as usual and waited it out.

It was just that, they had an awfully long life compared to the others.

Thankfully, this time, Ferdinand had found someone to spend it with.

His sweet Arabella.

With her around, as he envisioned a life with her, Ferdinand could finally look forward to the future — something he never thought he would do after so long.

Was it his imagination or her scent was so strong in this room?

"Alwin is becoming increasingly reckless recently," Raymond’s voice dragged Ferdinand’s mind back to the matter at hand.

Ferdinand could not help but agree, "Indeed."

"I thought going to Umbra all alone was the last time. But now he does this," Zion agreed as well.

"It’s not his fault. He’s just enjoying a taste of freedom after getting imprisoned on that island," Alvis contradicted them.

Alwin was sleeping soundly again so Alvis was back to joining their conversation.

"He was never imprisoned on my island. He was free to roam and do as he pleases," Ferdinand corrected.

Alvis still kept on insisting they intentionally hid Alwin.

"When he was young, His Majesty offered to return Alwin to the elves.

We repeatedly did as well.

But it was Alwin who refused.

He chose to stay by my lord’s side even as he grew up," Raymond added.

"Then why did he never leave that gloomy island?"

Alvis was on it again. He always does this every chance he gets.

Ferdinand usually just ignored him and let Raymond or Zion handle him.

"Because he was busy learning and growing," Ferdinand stated matter-of-factly.

He knew it would irritate Alvis further but he said it anyway.

It could not be changed since it was the truth after all.

Alwin was a curious young elf but he was wary and suspicious of new places and new people.

Even getting out of the palace walls took a while.

Ferdinand had to be with him on such matters.

Alwin would have never stepped out of the palace perimeters if Ferdinand did not make him ride on his back and give him a view of the island from above.

Alwin’s curiosity helped him slowly explore the island little by little as time went by.

As for people, it took even longer for Alwin to accept other people.

It was just Ferdinand at first.

Alwin followed him everywhere.

Then after some time, Alwin opened up to Zion and Raymond.

Rendell and the others took much longer.

"He could have learned and experienced so much more and freely roamed Estrella," Alvis countered.

"Yes, we wanted that too.

But he was not interested in going out of the island when he was younger.

He did later on anyway.

We understand you wanted to have met him sooner but it cannot be helped anymore since it already happened.

It is what it is now," Ferdinand pointed out.

"Is this person truly the Great Primordial?" Alvis dramatically covered his mouth as if in shock and asked Raymond.

"Of course. And we are in Valeria. You are being rude," Raymond reminded.

"Oh, I wasn’t trying to.

I’m just genuinely shocked.

Since when did the Great Primordial of Frost speak so much?

Is this the effect of becoming an emperor?"

Alvis acted overdramatic.

Perhaps because Ferdinand was responding to him now instead of just ignoring him when he acted like this.

After all, Ferdinand was just doing the bare minimum of what was required of him so his life would not be extended.

Thus, he did not put in much effort in anything and stopped once he was done with his task.

The same was true with conversations. Especially when people keep running around in circles.

But now, somehow, Ferdinand had gotten used to talking a lot more than he usually did.

Even to the point he still responded to Alvis’ antics because he was not able to raise his only nephew.

Ferdinand used to just leave Alvis while he was talking, once he got like this since he was too much of a pain.

But now, probably due to seeing how Raymond treasured his children, and since Ferdinand now had future plans to have children with Arabella, he began to truly understand how Alvis must have felt.

Perhaps it was why he could entertain Alvis now.

"Ugh, this is giving me goosebumps.

Fine, fine. Whatever.

Get this over with so Alwin can sleep peacefully," Alvis backed down.

The former already used a spell so Alwin would not hear them though.

They then resumed with their supposed topic.

"I believe we need to do something so Alwin would not act so recklessly again," Raymond began.

"You mean, he needs a punishment?" Ferdinand tilted his head.

"Yes," Raymond said and got a glare from Alvis. Thus, he corrected, "Not necessarily a punishment but something that would remind him not to do this again."

It had always been Raymond who laid down the rules.

Ferdinand did not really care much about rules since he explored freely when he was young.

Thus, back then, he did not mind Alwin doing anything he wanted.
