Reborn as a Tough Army Wife
Chapter 571 - 566: Pregnancy Confirmed
CHAPTER 571: CHAPTER 566: PREGNANCY CONFIRMED
Bai Jing observed Xu He’s reaction, thinking that she would have to interact with Xu He in the future, so this attitude was inappropriate.
She quickly smiled affectionately, patted Xu He’s hand, pulled her to a chair nearby to sit down, and began to lament, "You don’t know, I was originally Luo Zhiyong’s comrade’s girlfriend. But because of Fang Pingying’s interference, I ended up divorced and now I am living alone."
Upon hearing this, Xu He couldn’t believe it, "You were pregnant and she still caused you to get divorced?"
Bai Jing’s eyes flickered, and she merely nodded ambiguously.
Xu He became agitated and started cursing, "Fang Pingying is really despicable, even capable of splitting a happy couple."
The more agitated Xu He cursed, the happier Bai Jing was. She waited until Xu He had finished before pretending to clarify in order to dispel Xu He’s suspicions, "You see, you also hate Fang Pingying. Considering this, helping you is insignificant for me. I have already spoken with the doctor and even slipped him some money privately. He agreed to help you. If later someone asks, the doctor will repeat what you just said."
Since they shared the same enemy, Xu He felt much closer to Bai Jing and quickly expressed her gratitude, "Okay, okay, thank you so much, Sister Bai."
Bai Jing glanced at Xu He and silently chuckled. After casually chatting for a bit, she found an excellent point of entry.
Xu He was not only wicked but greedy too. Bai Jing deliberately told Xu He that she had slipped the doctor some money to see Xu He’s reaction.
Normally, it would be good enough that the doctor helped you, and you should be the one paying the money, but Xu He didn’t mention money at all, naturally assuming Bai Jing would cover it for her.
However, Bai Jing didn’t mind this small amount of money; realizing Xu He’s greed meant that it would be easier to manipulate her in the future. Perhaps no excuses would be needed at all—if money was given, anything could be arranged.
Thus, Bai Jing didn’t say anything about it openly but smiled at Xu He, "Remember, my name is Bai Jing. You can come to me if you need any help."
Xu He nodded slightly, then said somewhat awkwardly, "But Sister Bai, how can I contact you? I don’t have your phone number."
Bai Jing thought for a moment, took out a piece of paper from her bag, wrote down a number, and handed it to Xu He, "This is my home phone."
"Okay."
Right after Xu He finished speaking, they heard Zhou Yunmei’s yelling not far away, "Xu He, Xu He, damn it, disappeared in just a moment."
Xu He glanced at Zhou Yunmei annoyedly and muttered under her breath, "Old hag."
Bai Jing followed Xu He’s gaze and saw Zhou Yunmei calling out for people nearby, asking, "Who is calling you?"
"My mother-in-law."
"Your mother-in-law?" Bai Jing thought for a moment, then frowned and asked, "Is she Luo Zhiyong’s mother?"
"Yes."
Bai Jing’s eyes lit up, and then she pointed to Zhou Yunmei in the distance, "Alright, you go ahead, don’t keep your mother-in-law waiting too long. I am also leaving; standing too long while heavily pregnant is tiring."
Xu He immediately took down the phone number given by Bai Jing and responded, "Okay, okay, Sister Bai, I’ll be going now."
After Xu He left, Bai Jing also walked out, then carefully observed Zhou Yunmei, who was looking for Xu He, and smiled slightly before leaving the hospital.
On this side, now that Xu He was certain the doctor wouldn’t blabber, her respect for Zhou Yunmei had lessened, and she somewhat impatiently called out, "I’m right here."
It took Zhou Yunmei a while to spot Xu He in the corner, and she immediately ran over, asking irritably, "Where did you go? Didn’t you say you’d wait there for me? How come you disappeared the moment I turned around? It made me search for a long time."
Zhou Yunmei had only been looking for a mere five minutes, yet she dared say it took a long time.
Xu He glanced at Zhou Yunmei and said, "You’ve been through this, don’t you know pregnant women frequently need to use the restroom? I was at the restroom."
"You always have so many issues." Zhou Yunmei, eager to know about Xu He’s pregnancy condition, pulled her towards the maternity ward, "Enough talk, I asked around, the maternity ward is just here; let’s go see the doctor."
This time Xu He wasn’t scared; she readily followed Zhou Yunmei, "Let’s go."
Since the maternity doctor had accepted Bai Jing’s money, naturally, he said exactly what Xu He wanted, declaring that the baby was almost two months along.
That month, Zhou Yunmei confirmed, was safe.
Because at that time, Shuanzi had not yet come to collect high-interest loans at their home, and although Zhou Yunmei hadn’t thought much about Shuanzi and Xu He, she felt uneasy before.
Now, however, she felt reassured because, in any case, Xu He didn’t know Shuanzi two months ago, which meant the child in Xu He’s belly must definitely be Luo Zhiming’s.
Once this was confirmed, Zhou Yunmei was truly overjoyed; she wished she could hug Xu He and kiss her, lavishly praising Xu He’s belly for being impressive, even though the doctors had said Luo Zhiming could have difficulty fathering a child, yet Xu He still got pregnant.
Seeing Zhou Yunmei no longer had doubts, Xu He truly sighed in relief.
But she wasn’t foolish and immediately seized the opportunity to negotiate terms, "Mom, now that it’s confirmed I’m pregnant, you won’t tell Zhiming about yesterday’s incident, will you? Unless you want your Zhiming to end up without any heirs in the future."
"Let bygones be bygones; let’s not bring it up." Now that the child is paramount, Zhou Yunmei naturally wouldn’t dwell on yesterday’s issues any longer; she nodded, "I understand. If it weren’t for my Luo Zhiming getting involved with those loan sharks, yesterday’s incident wouldn’t have happened, so let it be."
"Mom, it’s best you think this way." Hearing Zhou Yunmei speak this way, Xu He knew her affair with Shuanzi would definitely not be brought up; she immediately smiled, holding Zhou Yunmei’s hand, "So, are we going home now, or what?"
Zhou Yunmei said, "Let’s head to the train station and see if there’s a train back. If there is, we’ll try to hurry back even if it means arriving at the county late at night. We must return tonight. If there’s no train, we’ll have to stay in the guest house another day."
Zhou Yunmei was somewhat worried that if Luo Zhiyong called home before they returned, when she got back, Luo Dashan wouldn’t have anything pleasant for her. If she were able to return earlier, she would find a way to prevent Luo Dashan and Luo Zhiyong from communicating.
"Alright, let’s see if we can also buy something for the baby." Xu He, feeling relieved, began to think of ways to get Zhou Yunmei to spend money, "The products in the provincial city are indeed better looking than what we have in our small place; some things we just can’t find in the countryside. Right now, your eldest grandson is precious to the Luo Family; we can’t use substandard items."
Speaking of the grandson, Zhou Yunmei suddenly remembered something and said, "Speaking of which, we need to stop by Fang Pingying’s house."
