"No wonder it’s an external creature, its sense of smell is very sharp."

Watching the monster that had already escaped from afar, Jia Yan had no intention of pursuing it.

He gently emerged from subspace into space, his expression indifferent.

If he were to chase, not to mention his current energy being depleted, what use would there be in killing the opponent? The external Biochemical Starfield forces have countless Secondary Level creatures, and Jia Yan doesn’t believe that just because they’ve invaded once, they won’t be able to do so again.

As Jia Yan appeared in space, a massive creature that had recently fought the escaping monster drew near cautiously.

It was a monster resembling a long snake, its entire body enveloped in a blood-red flame, and with its body wounded from the battle, the flame appeared even more vivid.

"Thank you Mister Jia Yan for your righteous assistance. I am called Flame." The snake head spoke.

It was evident that, unlike the Lion Monster, this Flame was not fond of speaking.

"Hello, I am Jia Yan." Jia Yan nodded.

There wasn’t much idle talk between them. Jia Yan could tell this Snake Monster felt a subtle fear of him, so he didn’t make things difficult. They nodded to each other and maintained a distance as they flew together toward the Command Star of the Kawai Defense Line.

"Welcome Lord Flame and Lord Jia Yan in triumphal return."

Upon reaching the Command Star, the Great General, whom they had seen in communications, came out to greet them.

The Great General had an appearance very similar to that of humans, which naturally engendered a close sentiment with Jia Yan, thus he was warmly receptive to Jia Yan.

Of course, Jia Yan reciprocated the warmth.

After exchanging pleasantries for a few words, the group of creatures entered a well-fortified building on the Command Star.

"This building is quite good, likely capable of resisting attacks from many Star Space Level and Dignitaries."

"Haha, you flatter us, Lord. Being able to resist Star Space Level and Dignitaries is essentially useless; if those secondary-level beings like the ones before show up, the building is pointless."

The Great General shook his head at Jia Yan with a bitter smile.

Previously, he was extremely confident in the building’s defenses, but after witnessing the external Secondary Level creatures, his confidence had dissipated.

"Lord Jia Yan, there were some things I didn’t dare to say in front of my subordinates, but now that it’s just us, I must tell you frankly: I have learned from previous intelligence that the forces invading our Orion Arm are far from simple. The Secondary Level beings that infiltrated earlier are weaklings to these forces; there are Semi-permanent Star Level beings above them, and even more terrifyingly... Stellar Level ones we cannot even fathom."

In a secluded place, with only Jia Yan, Flame, and the Great General present, he spoke of the intelligence he had gathered with a hint of astonishment.

While he spoke, he scrutinized Jia Yan’s expression closely. Upon seeing Jia Yan remain unperturbed, he seemed to comprehend something.

"Perhaps when Lord Jia Yan captured that Dignitary, he realized something. Or, as those monsters said, maybe you’ve actually been outside?"

He asked probing further.

"Hehe." Jia Yan shook his head, and then without hiding, confirmed: "Indeed, I have been outside, and to more than one place. I understand even more than you the terrifying aspects of these external forces."

As soon as these words were spoken, not only did the normally reticent Flame stare at him agape, but even the well-prepared Great General was taken aback.

"Turns out Lord Jia Yan has indeed been outside; no wonder you are so powerful." The Great General was shocked for a while before shaking his head with a wry smile, as if finding a justification for Jia Yan’s strength.

"Don’t get it wrong, even outside, strength doesn’t just come from the environment, but rather depends on the individual. However, compared to Orion Arm, there are more Strong Ones outside, and thus broader perspectives, allowing for higher achievements."

Jia Yan spoke calmly of his analysis. In reality, although he believed that in the Orion Arm space there is comparatively less energy than in the external star areas, this does not fully explain why the Orion Arm is so much weaker. Even in some areas of the external star regions energy is sparse, yet they still produce powerful Semi-permanent Star Level beings; though Stellar Level is harder to speak of, requiring stringent conditions for emergence.

In the Orion Arm, there are only two creatures akin to Semi-permanent Star Level beings, and even their true combat power is much weaker compared to ordinary Secondary Level beings outside. Given this situation, it cannot compare to the entire Biochemical Starfield forces.

"Lord Jia Yan is right; our Orion Arm is indeed somewhat isolated now, but largely because we can’t leave. While I don’t know how you managed to go outside, and have no wish for you to reveal the method."

"Because I know that with my strength, going outside might mean swift demise, but I still hope you can bring some elements for strengthening to our Orion Arm. Otherwise, this passive situation of being battered will persist for generations, and wouldn’t that be a tragedy for our Orion Arm?"

Jia Yan didn’t say much, merely nodded.

After steering away from the topic of strength, some secrets that even Jia Yan didn’t understand finally emerged.

"Lord, you don’t yet know the secrets of our Orion Arm, nor why the other side is unable to enter, yet you are willing to fight for us against the strong ones. I feel immensely grateful, and now I shall tell you the secret of our Orion Arm, it’s a long story."

The Great General exchanged a glance with Flame, then Flame turned back to look at Jia Yan briefly before nodding discreetly.

Jia Yan observed all of this, feeling a slight stir in his heart.

He understood that while the Orion Arm is a vast territory, it’s by no means a desirable place. In this galaxy, there are still unoccupied territories; the other side wouldn’t bother fighting to death over an inaccessible land.

So, the invading force must definitely be after something necessary within the Orion Arm.

"Lord, the outside world thinks the sacred beast Houyi mentioned by our Great Empire refers to the predecessor from thousands of years ago, but they are mistaken. When we refer to the divine beast Houyi, we are actually talking about the great ancestor from hundreds of thousands of years ago."

"Hundreds of thousands of years ago?!"

Jia Yan was shocked.

He hadn’t expected this Great Empire to know about events from hundreds of thousands of years ago. Yet thinking carefully, it made sense—they had access to more sources of intelligence and would surely know about that evolutionary beast predecessor from the Orion Arm who became famous across the entire galaxy, even battling several other great entities of the Milky Way.

"Indeed, that predecessor is the most powerful being in the history of our entire Orion Arm, perhaps even one of the top few strong ones in the history of the Milky Way. His magnificence back then is beyond our imagination, and Lord, you only need to know that the barriers appearing across this vast Orion Arm, spanning hundreds of lightyears, were created by him. Even today, tens of thousands of years later, it still blocks the entry of external strong ones into our Orion Arm..."

Although Jia Yan had already deduced this information, hearing it again from someone else’s mouth, he couldn’t help but exhale deeply.

Facing such a strong one, what did his strength count for? At that level, even one look would be enough to kill Jia Yan.

But why were they telling him this? What sort of setup did it lead to? Jia Yan didn’t believe they would bring up events from tens of thousands of years ago just to memorialize their ancestors; there must be a reason to follow.

Could it be that the predecessor left something behind?!

Jia Yan’s heart stirred.

Sure enough, after the Great General said all this, he continued, "That great predecessor left behind an item, and it is this item that the intruding enemy seeks. They invaded merely having the vague sense that we still possess it. If they knew it truly remains within our Great Empire..."

He sighed bitterly and shook his head, "Then it wouldn’t just be a simple force attacking us. Possibly, all the forces within the Biochemical Star Region would swarm like moths to a flame. You have to know, although the barrier left by the great predecessor is strong, over tens of thousands of years, we speculate that if a stellar-level being were to attack, it might be breached."

"What exactly is it that attracts them so much?"

Jia Yan asked.

"The essence blood left behind by that great predecessor!"

Essence blood!?

Jia Yan felt a shock in his heart.

He wasn’t unfamiliar with such things, because on his true body he still retained a vast amount of essence blood from his predecessor, which served as a way for a stellar-level and above strong one to voluntarily leave behind benefits for future generations after their death.

The batch of essence blood Jia Yan acquired is now saved for future advancement to stellar-level, as the predecessor from whom it was obtained was formidable at the time within that level. Hence, using his essence blood for advancement should be very effective.

Then what level would the essence blood of that evolutionary beast predecessor, far greater than the one who gave the inheritance, be?!

"Could it be..."

Suddenly, an idea struck Jia Yan, and his entire being trembled.

Seeing Jia Yan vaguely grasp the situation, the Great General revealed a peculiar glint.

"Mister Jia Yan, having traveled the outer world, you must be aware that above the stellar-level, there exists a more powerful level, akin to that of our ancestor!"

"Indeed, our Great Empire is now quite ignorant and has forgotten what this level is called, only knowing they are the true supreme beings of the Milky Way. And the essence blood left by our predecessor has a certain potential to help those on the verge of advancing to stellar-level achieve that grade. And even if this effect is yet to be tested, once the word gets out..."

Hearing the Great General’s words, laden with deep fear, Jia Yan too almost skipped a beat at heart.
