CHAPTER 396: CHAPTER 397: NO TURNING BACK

Shi Mei felt as if her scalp were about to explode, her mind a blank in that moment.

The foreign man’s face was twisted in savage rage as he mercilessly pulled the trigger, his teeth clenched as he growled, "Die!"

"Ah!"

Shi Mei didn’t know where the courage she unleashed came from, but she screamed and lunged forward, grabbing the hand that held the gun.

’Bang’

The bullet whizzed by her waist, the searing heat almost setting her on fire.

With eyes red and seemingly oblivious to it all, Shi Mei pushed off with her legs and threw her entire weight at him.

Caught off guard, the man stumbled, and the next instant, amidst the woman’s heart-wrenching scream, the cold gun butt struck his face with brutal force.

Shi Mei was like a madwoman, instinctively gripping the gun in her hand and smashing it down on his face with all her might.

The man screamed in agony, forcefully kicking her away as he clutched his bloodied face and wailed.

Shi Mei crashed to the ground, her vision swaying, but in the next instant, she came to her senses and chambered a round into the gun.

The man never expected this ’idiot’ was not only not stupid but also knew how to load a gun!

Hearing the sound of the gun being chambered, the man went on high alert, rolling on the ground to stand, but his head was buzzing from the blow, and he nearly fell again.

This woman’s blows were targeted, aiming for the most vulnerable parts of the human face: the eyes, the nose bridge, and the temples.

Even for a well-trained ex-mercenary, it would take some time to recover.

Barely managing to open his eyes, blurred with blood, he could only see the red haze around him. Guided by instinct and years of training, he raised his handgun once again.

But before he could pull the trigger, a gunshot rang out.

A bullet struck his shoulder squarely on the main nerve.

With a scream, the gun in his hand dropped to the ground.

Upon seeing this, Shi Mei hurriedly ran towards the car, but the searing pain from the gunshot wound in her waist made her stagger.

She moved as quickly as she could, gripping the handgun tightly, its muzzle pointing at the man, her entire body tense, blood flowing incessantly.

This was the first time she truly experienced such despair.

More than once she had thought how cool it must feel for soldiers to navigate through gunfire and fight for survival.

But now, personally experiencing this utterly devastating situation, she realized just how much courage and tenacity a regular person needed to face tests of life and death.

Soon Shi Mei reached the driver’s seat and pressed the ignition button.

But when she inadvertently looked up, she saw the man picking up the gun from the ground once more.

Shi Mei’s body trembled, her voice sharp with a warning, "Don’t push me!"

The man had already raised the gun, but in the next second, a heavy off-road vehicle they had driven there, charged at him like a lightning bolt.

’Bang’

The large, sturdy body was knocked down as the bullet fired into the sky.

The man couldn’t even let out a scream before being solidly run over by the heavy vehicle.

The crunch of bones filled the air, crushing all traces of life from him.

And the vehicle, just like that bullet shot into the sky, went off without looking back.
