In the interactions over the past half-month, Shi Mei had come to know that Gao Lian was a trustworthy person.

He was upright, honest and decisive, tight-lipped, straightforward, and, most importantly, a close friend of her cousin Tang Heming.

Tang Heming was the grandson of her great-uncle, two years her senior, and had just turned thirty this year.

Shi Mei had anticipated this reaction.

Bai Yuejie’s appearance and reputation were highly deceptive; even she had once been completely convinced of Bai Yuejie’s ’innocence and kindness.’

She told Gao Lian everything in detail and ultimately concluded, "She wants my heart, to replace the one she has now in her body, which came from Tang Wu."

Shi Mei laid out her logic clearly and her thought process was very distinct.

She combined all her conjectures with the current situation and presented Gao Lian with what essentially amounted to the framework of the truth.

Gao Lian listened, deeply startled, and murmured to himself, "To keep herself alive, she’s plotting to take the hearts of both you and Tang Wu?"

Shi Mei looked at his astonished expression and nodded firmly under his gaze.

She knew that with these revelations, Gao Lian might not fully believe her, but as a professional detective, he would certainly not dismiss her claims entirely.

She continued, "But I believe that, being a heart patient herself, even if she has the will to do many things, there is a lot she cannot achieve. At such times, she would need a capable helper."
