CHAPTER 199: MARIA IS PREGNANT?

Ravina walked out of the training ground.

She had already discarded her armor, which she had worn prior, and was back to wearing her maid outfit.

Since she had done all the training she needed to do with Exlor, she could wait another day for Exlor to finish his rest before she came back.

For now, she could fully focus on her duty as King for a kingdom.

A duty she never wanted to uphold in the first place, a duty she only walked for the sole purpose of obligation.

As she walked down the hallway, the other elf maids greeted her with smiles on their faces, always happy to see the face of their savior.

True.

Revina never once told anyone how she was able to gather so many elves under her.

In truth, any time she headed to war, she would make sure to scan the neighboring towns for survivors, and more than 70% of the time, they would either end up being elves or other species under the demon race.

Those who were not elves were given jobs in the capital, and those who were elves were given the choice to work in the castle, where she, the King, resided.

To her, it was simply a way of connecting to her people because only elves alone understand the burden of being an elf.

Finally getting to the throne room, she sighed. Knowing if she were to open the door, there would be people from the board ready to dump their duties on her as always.

And with Alex out of the capital for some work, she could not shift the work onto him like she always does.

"What a bother..."

She opened the door.

But something rather strange happened when she did.

The moment the door was swung open, she felt a strange mana flow into her body.

Actually, it was the same mana she was used to, only this time, it felt stronger and purer than she had ever sensed.

There was only one person she knew who was capable of having such a unique mana.

A bit of excitement played on her face before she raised her head, only to see Dorian seated on her throne, with his legs crossed.

Standing at his side was Ciel, his ever-trusted dragon, and at the other side, Maria, ensuring her position as his knight and wife.

Wiggling his fingers, Dorian uttered out loud, "Hey there, Your Majesty. Long time no see," he grinned.

Revina was so eager to say something, clearly shown as she took a step away from the door, her left hand resting on her chest.

But the moment she noticed the suspicious look on Maria’s face, she returned to her senses, her calm persona taking over.

"It has." She turned around, walking back towards the door to close it, after giving out an exasperated sigh. Then she turned around.

"Dragon Monarch, what brings you here? It’s been two months since you left the capital. I didn’t think you’d be coming here anytime soon."

As soon as she uttered these words, Maria looked away, a trail of sweat at the side of her face.

To this, Dorian replied, "I came to check on my favorite King. Also, how are the sales going? Pretty great?"

Revina was a bit confused as to why Dorian would be asking her something like that.

For starters, the entire business he had started throughout the entire capital is being supervised by his people, and they have multiple headquarters scattered everywhere.

The business became so big that the entirety of the capital became famous across other nations, who were now looking to purchase the machine to use for themselves.

Hell, a week ago, Dorian and his team discovered a new oil mining ground towards the east, not too far away from where his Dukedom was located.

So why would her input on the matter suddenly hold any weight?

She finally responded, "From what I heard, everything seems to be going great. I remember Alex mentioning how the kingdom’s finances have increased drastically with all the foreign trade and all that."

Dorian smirked. "Is that so? And the new Duke you appointed, I do hope he is not causing any trouble?"

"Not... any that I noticed..."

After Duke Valerie was locked in prison, a replacement was made. The former king’s brother took on the role as the new Duke, completely changing the name of the entire place and how it operated. Dorian had never met the new Duke, so Revina overlooked the fact he asked.

Then right after, silence settled for a long time.

"Oh, by the way..." Dorian clasped his palms together. "Do you happen to remember how the monarch baby-making thing works again?"

"I’m sorry?" Revina’s face turned bland at the question.

"I remember you spoke about how those who bear the child of the Dragon Monarch stand the chance to die if they are unfortunate enough to birth the Child of Becoming. Was that how it went?"

Revina replied, "Yes, that was exactly what my father told me."

"Does this apply to only you or everyone else?" Dorian asked yet another question.

"I am afraid I do not know the answer to that. All I was told was I should carry out the role. But if I am to guess, then I assume it doesn’t extend to just me. Is there a problem? You look rather spooked."

In that moment, Maria was looking directly at Dorian, her eyes bubbling with tears with her cheeks pouted.

Dorian pinched the bridge of his nose as he uttered his next words. "Well, see the thing is. Maria is pregnant. And I am the father, apparently. I was worried the Child of Becoming crap would affect that, and now it’s just nothing but a nightmare."

Nothing after "Maria is pregnant" resonated in Revina’s head. All that followed was a loud ringing, along with Exlor’s voice, reminding her how she should act before he slips through her fingers.

Maria was pregnant.
