CHAPTER 6: MY FIRST SUMMONS IS A DIGGY.

"Dammit to hell, losing all my money in one go really hurts like hell!"

Dorian cried, rolling continually on the bed while whining about his loss at the tavern.

Actually, that was the first income he had ever made since coming to this world, and in an effort to show off and gain the people’s trust, he lost it all in one go.

While it was a good turn of effect, his love for profit and savings far exceeded his reasoning.

After swarming about on the bed to work out his stress, Dorian finally came to his senses and calmly sat down on the bed with his legs crossed.

’Tsk, I can forget about the money, because I’ll make them earn it back several times over. Not to mention, after I sold the dragon iron ore to the old man, I noticed something...’

Now his eyes were focused in front of him, where the glowing screen had presented itself.

Written on it was the following information:

[Title: Sale merchant.

Effect: 5% luck in sales negotiation.]

[Current points: 100 epoints.]

"Immediately after selling the iron ore, this appeared, the points i got were way more than i got when i dug up the iron ore as well, so the points i can gain are not fixed. Good, it would be a pain in the ass if I had to accumulate only 40 points per event.’

He turned his eyes to the side, where another window popped up.

[Summoning station.

Price per pull: 90 points.]

’Then there is this as well, which also appeared after I got to 100 points. And also this...’

[Would you process a skill scan?

Cost: 50 points.]

’Skill scan’ has something to do with me getting skills. If I presume, the question here is, ’I have only 100 points,’ meaning my options are limited to just one of these. Hmm...which do I go for?’

[Just pick one.]

’There comes a time in a man’s life where he is forced to make the difficult decision, a tough decision.’ Dorian rubbed his chin. ’While having a skill sounds cool and all, a summon sounds badass. What are the chances I pull for a massive dragon? hehe , or a hard-working laborer. That’s it; I have made my choice.’

Without giving it a second thought, Dorian stretched his hand forward and clicked on the button.

[90 points have been deducted.]

[You have pulled for a summon.]

Right before his eyes, a green portal opened. From within, a creature walked out of it.

It was about knee-sized in height and was wearing what looked to be red diapers with a white fabric dancing around its body. It also had a single antenna sticking out of its head, coupled with wearing drawings on its stomach to match its lively red eyes.

However, Dorian paid little attention to such mediocre details. To him, all that was standing in his room was a dwarf-like wannabe creature.

"What is this?" he uttered aloud, his face filled with disbelief. Eyes twitching as though he were slipping away to insanity.

Then the notification popped up again.

[Land diggers.] Description: Armed with unrivaled stamina and an unnatural skill for digging and mining, these creatures have all the necessary abilities to assist you in labor.

[Current rank: Tier 1.]

[Job: Miner, civil worker.]

"NoooooO!!!! I wanted a dragon!!!"

Dorian fell to his knees, his arms on the floor as he cried his eyes out.

’Dammit, another loss. First my money, now my points. just kill me already.’

Land digger stared at its master, tilting its head to the side in confusion as to why its master would be lying on the ground.

Then another window popped up, sounding just like a horror cry.

[Would you like to pull for a summon-based weapon?]

[Cost: 3 points.]

Dorian raised his head.

’The hell is that? You’re just looking for an excuse to drain me dr-’

He halted his words.

Next to the window was a hologram of a weapon. It looked like an axe, but its shape and size spoke differently.

[Summon-based weapons are guaranteed weapons meant for summons to fit their needed occupation.]

’That is rather convincing. Now that I think about it, maybe a summon like this is not to bad. Fine, do it.’

[3 points have been deducted.]

[A new weapon has been obtained.]

[Work weapon:] Description: This weapon reduces fatigue and also changes shape depending on what is needed when working.

[Current Epoints: 7.]

’OHoh, interesting, this little fella will definitely be handy for digging out more iron ore.’

"I should give you a name, though."

The summon nodded happily.

After thinking of a name, Dorian pointed at it.

"Your name will be Diggy."

[Wow.]

Diggy stared at Dorian, clearly unimpressed by the name.

Not that Dorian cared; his attention drifted elsewhere as soon as he passed on the name.

"Oh, that reminded me, father came home today. I haven’t had the chance to speak to him, but i heard he called for Maria. Esh, i wonder how that is going."

....

(The baron’s visitors room.)

Maria was seated on the couch, and opposite her was the baron himself, James Aurelien.

He was dressed in a suit, the very cloth he had on after he came back from his trip from the capital.

The dark circles under his eyes were evident, enough proof to tell he was exhausted. And despite the fact he had not been home for quite some time, rather than calling to see his son, he called for Maria, the guest, instead.

Silence settled with James simply observing the beautiful girl seated in front of him.

She was so composed and calm that it was hard to tell what she was thinking at the moment.

Even though James was the baron, he was still quite nervous from her presence.

Nevertheless, he spoke his mind.

Unexpectedly, his action managed to catch Maria off guard as he bowed his head while sitting, both hands on his lap.

Then came his weak and somewhat confident voice.

"I am sorry for the trouble my idiotic son must have caused you. If he had bribed or threatened you in any way to come home with him, please, you need not be afired, i will see to it that he cease all illegal actions towards you. Please, Maria, you can go home with my words in your heart. My son will not harm you, over my dead body."
