Reborn as the Failed Lord with my Resource Gathering System.
Chapter 9: Locating new resources.
CHAPTER 9: LOCATING NEW RESOURCES.
"Let’s do this thing!"
Dorian yelled, both hands on his waist as he stood before the trashed land.
It looked exactly as he remembered. It was still difficult to see the ground because of the waste, mud, and dirt that were all over the place.
Even the hole Dorian had dug to extract the first dragon iron ore had become littered with trash.
Maria, covering her nose, finally spoke.
"My lord, is this where you dug out the dragon iron ore? The trash ground for the barony?"
"Eh?"
Dorian turned around to look at her. "This is where people dump their garbage?"
"Wasn’t it obvious? Why else would there be dirt here?"
While he knew people from the barony were the ones dumping dirt here, he didn’t think it was something everyone would actively be doing. Hell, he was already planning to catch the person dumping the dirt and bribe them to work for him.
’If this is where they are dumping their dirt, then this might be an issue for me? I’ll have to create another place for that to take place.’
Suddenly, his gaze diverted to the side, where he could see an empty space at the side.
Then, an idea kissed his brain.
Without saying anything to Maria, he faced the unsanitary terrain.
’Activate Resource Gathering.’
[Resource Gathering has been activated.]
[10 iron ore have been located.]
Right then and there, Dorian’s eyes glowed, quickly catching a glimpse of every single iron ore the system had tracked down for him.
Many of which were buried even deeper in the ground.
Just when he wanted to act, another prompt came in.
[20 iron ore have been located.]
[34 iron ore have been located.]
[23 iron ore have been located.]
Before Dorian knew what was happening, golden lines had filled the entire place, pointing towards the direction of every single position of the dragon iron ore.
In that moment, Dorian had never felt any other type of joy, not since arriving in his new world. Why? Because he could smell money miles away.
"Maria, quick, make a mark over there!" he shouted, pointing to the far right of the site.
Maria raised her brow. "A mark? My lord, are you—"
"Just do it!"
Seeing how serious he was, Maria couldn’t help but act accordingly.
She grabbed the nearest stick she could find and sprinted towards where Dorian was pointing. Then, she swept the garbage to the side before then using the stick to make an X mark on the ground.
"Go there, put a mark!"
Dorian pointed to another place.
Acting quickly, Maria did the same thing, using the stick to mark an X on the ground in a different spot.
They both kept at it; Dorian would point at a different position, and Maria would do the honors of putting an X mark there.
After a while, they were finally done.
Maria had her back rested on a tree, panting heavily while using the stick as support. Her chest rose and fell, sweat trickling down her cleavage.
"I—is that all, Lord Dorian?" she asked.
"Hmm, yeah, sure."
Dorian replied half-assedly, his gaze completely glued to the system screen.
Click.
His finger pressed against the screen.
In response, a bright golden light shone before him, summoning his trusty summon, Diggy.
Diggy stood before his master, his shovel resting on his shoulder while standing like a soldier preparing to go to war.
"Diggy, I want you to dig that spot for me, very deep, about ten feet, can you do that?" Dorian issued as he pointed to the only spot in the entire terrain close to where he was that didn’t have a marking on it.
"Fuuu~"
Diggy replied.
With a single leap, Diggy was right in the spot Dorian had assigned to him. Turning its shovel into an axe, the summon began digging as fast as possible, no different from a machine.
While Maria was watching with shock, wondering how Dorian was able to make a summon, Dorian’s expression was entirely different from that.
His smile had stretched towards the corner of his face, his eyes glittering with money as he realized with a summons like this, he wouldn’t need to do any labor, at least not for now.
In less than a couple of minutes, Diggy had dug a ten-foot hole. The work of a single man for about three days was done in a matter of minutes.
Dorian could not be any happier.
He moved closer to the summon, rubbing Diggy’s head excitedly.
"I take back every bad thing I said about you; you are the best summon ever. I might be in love with you," Dorian voiced out, his eyes fixed at the deep hole.
Diggy, on the other hand, who was enjoying every praise he was getting, could not help but wear a smug look on his face, allowing every word to get to his head.
Soon after, Maria joined Dorian close to the pit.
Though, she was there for a different reason.
"How are you able to tame a summon? Last I checked, Lord Dorian, you’re not a summoner," she inquired, her arms folded.
Dorian rubbed his finger under his nose.
"What can I say? I am just that special; I woke up one morning and realized I could do this shit. I guess the world just favors me."
Of course, Maria didn’t buy a single word that left his mouth.
"Lord Dorian, a person can only have one class: warrior, summoner, mage, or alchemist. You were a mage class, were you not? How are you able to make a summon?" she pressed.
’I am? Did Dorian ever even try to find out his class? Wait, no, now that I think about it, did I even know classes like these existed?’ Dorian squeezed his face. ’I only knew Maria was a master rank; I definitely didn’t know her class or whatever.’
He glanced to the side, desperately trying to find a lie to come up with.
Luckily, a distraction was around the corner.
An unknowing villager was headed in their direction, pushing a platform stacked with dirt and waste materials.
