"You need to pay your dues. First, do it by dying!"

Mary raised her axe and brought it down in a perfect arch. She would have killed the fake professor if his lizard familiar had not moved and changed shape before grabbing Mary's weapon and deflecting it away.

Once the familiar had ensured that the fake was secure, he stepped in front of it and looked at the maid and her party in front of her.

"Were you looking for me? Unfortunately, I am not in the mood to meet anyone else. As you can see, I am a little busy with an experiment."

The newly-turned human sounded bored when he said that. Half his attention was on his staff, and he wanted to head back and pay attention to it instead of the danger in front of him.

Mary's eyes twitched at this behavior, and she was not ready to accept his excuse from the half-dragon.

So, instead of accepting what the professor said, Mary attacked him.

Since a maid attacked him so ferociously, the professor had no choice but to defend himself. He gritted his teeth as the attacks gazed at him too closely.

"Fuck it! Slow down a bit here! I don't know what pissed you off, but I told you that it was not my fault-"

"It is your fault! You are why my young miss is in this situation in the first place! Do not try to lie and get out of this situation! It won't work on me anymore!"

Mary's eyes held no light as she cornered the lizard back into a corner. The fake professor cried out in distress as his bonding partner was forced to be subjected to such behavior.

"Y-You! What are you doing? Do you have any idea who that person is? You will die for going against us-"

The fake professor yelled, and Mary felt her headache at the unnecessary commentary she had to hear.

She looked at Raziel from the corner of her eyes, and the young kid got the notice.

Before the fake could sprout more bullshit, he had lost consciousness, and he lay on the ground with a big dump on his forehead where he had hit it on the ground.

"Hey, be careful with him! I do not want him to turn stupider than he already is. Do you know how difficult my life is already because of him?"

The half-lizard complained, and he tried to head toward his companion. But Mary blocked his way.

"You do not get to go to him. Not until you tell us where you sent my young miss to! If anything were to happen to her, you would find yourself in a world of pain and suffering, mister!"

Mary threatened, and the lizard sighed before he snapped his fingers, and an orb appeared in his hand.

"Don't worry! Your young miss and the other kids (they were not supposed to be there) are safe for now. This test was made keeping your young miss's level in mind so she will not die. As for getting her back? Why don't we wait-"

The man spoke softly, but Mary grabbed his shoulder before knocking the wind out of him by punching him.

It immediately made the man touch his tender stomach and cringe at the pain he was feeling.

"W-What the-"

"Get my young miss out of there right at this moment. I don't care how simple or well-adjusted this test is. Things always go wrong when you are involved.

I thought you had gotten much milder since you got a human leash, but now I can see that it only made you wilder. I will have to ask someone to reseal you at this rate."

Mary threatened and was the only one who could make the half-dragon flinch, mainly because her threats were not ideal.

It would happen if Mary said she would do something, and you could do nothing about it.

*Sigh*

"Fine, I get it! I will stop this experiment and bring your young miss back! Are you happy about it now? You are making a mountain out of mole-hill at this rate…"

The half-dragon assured the maid before he reached for the orb and put his magic inside it. He was forcing the barrier to collapse to get the kids to safety.

But as soon as his magic touched the orb, the professor frowned worriedly.

He pulled the orb back and immediately examined it before an embarrassed expression overtook his features.

"So, about that thing you asked me to do…It seems like I would need some time. The magic barrier around the field is not listening to me. I will need to try some things out to see the best solution.

If you could wait a moment-"

The half-dragon tried to assure, but the other professor suddenly gasped as he pointed toward the orb and spoke shakily.

"T-This is not good! Layla's condition does not look good. She is too pale, and her magic also looks unstable. She might form cracks in her magic core if she pushes herself too hard."

Mary took in a sharp breath before she immediately grabbed the half-dragon in front of him and brought him eye-level to herself.

"You better pray my young miss is alive and unharmed, you scoundrel! If not, then this would be your last day on this earth. I am not forgiving, and my temper is rising much faster than you can anticipate."

Mary's yes held a darkness that made the half-dragon nervous.

He knew how powerful the maid in front of him was, and he always ensured that she was on his good side if something like this happened.

"I-I get it! I will teleport us all to the training ground right now. Just let me go alive this time, and brace yourself. It is going to be a bumpy ride for us."

The professor warned before focusing and forming a magic circle around the room. He was going to make this quick.
