Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 132: Ch 132: The worthy Sacrifice - Part 2
'H-Huh? Why did I do it? What can I do now? Shit! I did not mean to hurt the first-class professor-!'
The professor panicked as his hand moved on his own. He had gotten so angry hearing the first-class professor say all this that his hand had moved on his own, and he ended up smacking the dragon before him.
The lizard looked back at him with an annoyed face, but it looked unharmed for the most part.
"I will forgive you this time since you are young and ignorant. I will not take the same insult twice, so you better be careful."
It was a warning for the professor to stay in his lane, and the professor did that quickly. He backed away and withdrew into his shell.
If he could not even look up to the first-class magician and his experience, he did not know what else to look up to and make his purpose in life.
Raziel kept watching this from the sidelines. He wanted to go after Mary as well, but he also knew that his master would prefer that he stay here and gather more information.
But once he was sure he had enough, Raziel left for the temple. He had a feeling that Mary would require his help during this case.
...
"H-Hey! Do you feel this cold as well? I don't know what is going on?"
"Do you think this is a ghost haunting us? Should we close the temple for now and do a purification ritual? I am sure we can….ahhhhh"
The temple worker yelled loudly as his eyes fell on Mary and the person in her arms.
Mary did not bother saying anything as she clutched Layla harder. Her eyes looked determined and ready to take on anyone, and her voice was crisp and clear.
"I would like to have my master treated as soon as possible. Her core was injured, and I need to fix it before a lasting injury occurs."
Mary spoke in as calm of a voice as she could keep at the moment.
The pair in front of her looked conflicted, but they quickly got to work when they heard her words.
"Of course! Please come with us! We would like to ask you a few questions, and we hope you will answer them. Please give us your name and affiliation so we can check our inventory for any leftover material and previous records."
The temple worker asked as she led Mary behind her.
Mary hesitated to step inside the temple before taking a deep breath and stepping over the footing.
The divine power burned at her senses, but she was a high-class demon and healed it immediately.
She just needed to keep walking, and this amount of pain was nothing for her. After all, she had taken much worse injuries during her days at war.
"Does it matter who I am and what my affiliations are? I have an injured person with me, so please help me first."
Mary was even politely begging right now. It was something she hardly did, and it showed how awkward her words were.
But the pair in front of her looked conflicted and still asked her the same question.
"Miss, please don't be difficult. You are the one who is delaying the treatment. We need to know if we need to get any specific priest or if we can-"
"Fine! We are from Duke Lockhart's household. This is one of his wards, Layla. Happy now! Now, please hurry up and treat her quickly."
Mary's words made the workers pause, and an awkward expression spread across their faces.
It was clear what they thought of the Duke and his household.
'Tsk, I did not want to tell these people who we were. I knew we would be discriminated against even before I explained my situation to someone.'
Mary gripped Layla's body tighter, and she could feel it going colder in her grip. It made her feel awkward, and the pair in front looked equally concerned and baffled about what to do.
'Should I just break in and kidnap a high-level priest? No, that can make the high-level priest an enemy, and he can injure Layla further. And also-'
Mary was too much into her head and did not notice a pair walking up to her with a determined expression.
"Excuse me, but do you need help? We heard your words, and I-I want to help. I can take you to my mentor, and she can help."
The young girl with pink hair and pink eyes tugged at Mary's clothes as she spoke. She had an innocent look and air around her, telling Mary she was not out there to hurt her.
But compared to her gentle air and actions, her eyes looked committed and ready to help.
The boy standing behind the pink-haired girl looked much less agreeable. He was sullen and…looked a lot like his master. But unlike his master's origins, Mary knew this kid's origins well.
'A bastard of the royal family and a human familiar of God Horace (God of War)? That is an amusing comparison. Should I take their offer? These kids are young, but they might be able to help.'
Just when Mary was about to take this offer, she heard footsteps approaching her.
Priestess Cana all but ran toward her, and her eyes fell on Layla with a flinch.
"Tsk, I heard what happened from the brat. Shit! He should have told us that the situation was this bad. Hurry up and bring her this side. If we don't hurry, we might lose Layla completely due to her core's leakage."
The news Priestess Cana gave Mary was not optimistic, but Mary was determined to do whatever it took to make her mistress fine once more.
She followed Kana quickly, and the pair of kids followed her.
The priests who had hesitated still looked stunned at what happened. They tried to move, but the pressure made them collapse instead.
"We will report you both to the head for not helping a patient, and you will get in trouble."
Rosette yelled as she ran out of the hall.
