Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 178: Ch 178: Rocky Times - Part 3
"Lady Layla, I will distract them all. Please, run away as fast as you can. You need to make it to safety, at least."
Raziel spoke like it was his last mission; given the circumstances, it might as well have been.
Looking at Raziel made Layla feel odd, but she did not want to make his sacrifice go down in vain. So, as soon as she realized that Raziel was intending to sacrifice his life for her, she decided and decided to run.
"Oh shit! The kid is trying to get away. We need to catch her as soon as possible."
One of the shadows noticed, and they tried to go after Layla, but Raziel blocked their path. He was a form soldier blocking others from being able to follow his master.
"You are not going anywhere. I will block your path before you become a problem for my master."
Raziel was resolute as he stood his ground. He had confidence that he would be able to survive until Mary arrived.
"Tsk, we don't have time to entertain you right now. Hey, you both follow the kid right now. I can take this kid alone."
The tallest shadow spoke, but Raziel attacked the other shadow to halt his way.
The tallest shadow looked taken aback by the sudden attack, but he did not give up.
Instead, he gestured for the youngest shadow to leave first.
"Hey, you go after that kid. We will take care of the matters here. It should not be that difficult for you to care for a single kid alone."
The tallest shadow ordered the youngest, and Raziel changed his target toward the youngest.
Unfortunately for him, his attacks were seen-through, and the tallest shadow blocked his attack before it could make it through.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and head out. I won't be able to hold this kid back forever."
The tallest yelled at his companion, and the youngest flinched before he ran after Layla.
Raziel felt irritated that he had failed to follow through and protect his master, but he had bigger fish to fry.
The two shadows in front of him were looking viscous but also cautious. They were not approaching him out of fear and caution.
'I need to take care of things fast. I no longer have the luxury to wait for Mary to come and save us.'
Little did Raziel know that Mary was having problems of her own.
Since this was a human world, a demoness like her could not exert her full power without the consent of her master. But she had decided not to get this consent because she did not think she needed it for this fight.
That was an oversight on her part that she regretted now.
The shadows she was in turned out to be a little more irritating than she had hoped for, and one of them had healing powers, making this fight drag out a lot longer than she had hoped for.
"Tsk, why won't you stay down when I attack you? Are you that desperate to get hurt by my hand? If so, you don't have to go through all this trouble."
When she spoke these words, Mary smiled on the outside, but her irritation was clear.
Her opponents spoke nothing. They did not even acknowledge her presence or what she had been saying.
Mary was not angry because her opponents commonly did not acknowledge her. But what did irritate her was the formation she was facing.
'A healer and a buffer with two attackers who are protecting them. Tsk, these darn people were ready for this fight. First, I need to remove the buffer since he's the less guarded of the two. Then, I can get to the healer.'
With her plan made, Mary went in for the kill on the healer first. She made it subtle that she would attack the healer, which made the defense shift toward her.
But as soon as Mary was close enough, the arch of her axe caught the buffer's side instead, and he went down.
Her attack had been fast enough not to be seen.
'Now that the buffer is down, I have ten minutes of room to take care of the healer. Otherwise, she would heal the buffer, and I will have to deal with all of them.'
It was easier said than done, but Mary did not doubt that things had become easier for her now.
"Y-You-! When did you-!"
"Hey, focus! We are here to attack that woman and kill her. If we are not careful, then the ones who would be hinted down would be us instead."
The leader of this small team spoke in a harsh voice. He looked at Mary with a very expression now, and he also looked certain that Mary was someone he needed to be careful of.
"Aww, did I scare you by being mean and attacking you like this? Then, would you like me to hold back a little more? I don't want to, but if you promise not to go after my young miss, I might be able to make an exception."
Mary proposed, but it was clear that her opponent had no intention of doing anything about it. It was a shame, but that is what Mary got.
She also had no time to waste here. She needed to head to her young miss as soon as possible and protect her. More people had arrived to harm her young miss, and Raziel alone wouldn't be enough to protect her.
"Tsk, are you looking down on us because you took one of us down? That is your mistake. Healer, you take care of the fallen soldier. We will protect you-"
The man never finished because Mary broke past his guard with her immense speed and took care of the healer first.
With both the healer and the buffer down, these people had been reduced to mere attackers with mediocre powers. It would be easy for Mary to pick them apart now.
