Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 182: Ch 182: Hatched Egg - Part 2
The temple was calm, and the prayers were interrupted. Everything indicated this would be a normal day for the temple's people, who enjoyed peace and quiet.
It was such a tranquil morning that no one was prepared for the sudden rush at lunchtime.
Someone ran past the temple's main gate, and they headed directly toward Cardinal Bishop's room. The urgency in the person's steps made it seem like the world was ending.
Unfortunately for them, the Cardinal and his assistant, Priestess Cana, were not in the temple today. They had been sent to a remote location to care for a beast causing havoc.
The temple guard tried to explain that to Mary, but the female's face looked unwilling to believe him.
It made the guard sign, but he also knew that there was nothing much he could do to make these people believe him if they did not want to.
The immense divine power of the kid of this group had also worried the guard, who wondered if he was accidentally causing a problem for someone high up in the temple order.
But as things stood, he could only apologize for being unable to help the pair and turn them away.
"Tsk, that turned out to be useless. Should we just track that stupid Cardinal down and make him take a look at Layla anyway? His stupid mission is not as important as the life of our young miss is."
Mary spoke in a bitter tone.
The cardinal was responsible for saving thousands of lives during his mission, but none of these lives had any significant impact on this world. On the other hand, Lady Layla was too impressive and hard-working not to be saved.
"Should I check for the Cardinal? Saintess Cana gave me a seal that can be used to track them. She said to use it in emergencies, and this is one."
Raziel had no hesitation in his voice when he asked this.
The seal had been given to him for an emergency in *his* life. But an emergency on Lady Layla's life was a much bigger deal.
The dragon kid was also a problem they had to deal with.
It had used its magic to turn invisible and lay down on Layla. Its noodle-like body was curled over itself, and it looked like the dragon was not paying attention.
But Raziel could feel the dragon taking everything in and judging this place. If triggered, it would put their lady and this place in danger.
'It's just one problem after another. Why did this have to happen to our lady? She was so young and full of ambitions just hours ago.'
Lady Layla seemed to have fallen into a coma, but the dragon's presence acted as a small beacon of hope that she would not die. A dragon won't let its partner die that easily.
But still, it was a good idea to have her miss treated as soon as possible.
The pair was a little hung up on what they could do when they noticed a person heading their way and dragging a silver-haired male behind them.
Pink hair was the first thing Mary and Raziel noticed before they saw that familiar face.
"What are you two doing here? The cardinal said that he would be back next week. Can I get another Cardinal to help us if it's an emergency? There is another one in the temple right now."
Rosette asked in a small but firm voice.
She had noticed Layla's unconscious form in Mary's arms, and she had also noticed that weird but powerful energy that was lying on top of Layla's chest.
It made the heroine want to reach out and confirm whether Layla was alive or not for herself. But her instincts told her that it would be a foolish thing to do and she might lose her life.
"Yeah, we got the notice. We cannot do anything but go after the Cardinal on our own. You kids do not have to worry about it."
Mary assured the kids, and Adam looked resigned and also relieved at the notion. He had no intention of betraying the temple and going on a journey outside. He was content with what he had.
But Rosette was a different case. Her eyes turned determined, and she turned to look at the maid with a firm expression.
"Take me with you. I want to help you find the Cardinal as well. I feel you will need my help during this journey."
Rosette offered herself, and Adam jolted in her grasp.
"NO! We are not abandoning the temple for people we do not even know. Rosette, do you not remember the rules? We will be thrown out if we take this mission without the temple's orders. And we have no orders to head out. We are on prohibition."
Mary and Raziel had no idea what had happened, but something must have happened for the pair of kids to be prohibited from leaving.
But no matter how much Adam pleaded and said not to help out with this case, the female made up her mind, and it was clear behind her eyes that she would not regret anything she did.
"It's fine! I do not mind whatever is going to happen. I was thinking about leaving the temple soon as well. This place differs from what I imagined, and I am tired of being here."
Rosette complained, but the pain was clear in her eyes.
The young female had a choice, and it was clear her choice.
"Are you sure you won't regret this choice? Once you choose us, you won't be able to return to your easy-going temple life. You still have time to make a different choice."
Mary pointed out, but Rosette shook her head to indicate that she had no choice other than the one she had made.
"No, I am sure this is what I need to do. Miss Layla is important to me, so if I had to leave the temple for her and start anew, I would do that without hesitation."
