"Today, we have gathered here for the specific purpose of sacrificing our hard-earned sacrifice to the dragon god. Once we do that, we can get unlimited power and wealth from the gods.

Now, our dear god, please accept our sacrifice and grant our wishes as soon as possible."

The knife came down, and it neared Layla's heart. It aimed to pierce the female's heart and ensure her end.

But before the knife could pass through her chest, the pair of eyes opened, and the body shot up all of a sudden.

That action caused the priest who wanted to sacrifice the body to fall back and look at the reincarnated human in disbelief.

"What the heck happened? Where am I? And what am I doing here? And my voice…why does it sound this old and cranky?"

Layla compared as she rubbed her throat. It hurt her to speak up since she had not used her vocal cords for such a long time, but it also felt good to finally be awake and ready to take revenge for what happened to her.

She had no idea how long she had been unconscious, but it could not have been that long.

After all, she had managed to wake up on time…

"Y-Y-You! Why did you wake up now? You ruined our perfect sacrifice by waking up! Our offering…what do we do now?"

The man asked as he lamented his inability to sacrifice Layla to his god. He was not the only one who looked disappointed after what happened.

About two dozen people had been gathered in that clearing, hoping to know what was happening and how their sacrifice woke up after taking all the precautions.

"Ugh, so this is all your fault? I was getting a good night's sleep as well. But I guess I needed to wake up sooner or later. Now, what should I do with you?"

Layla asked as she looked at the terrified cult leader in front of her.

She still had no idea what happened, but she knew that she needed to end this fight as soon as possible and head back.

Knowing Mary, her maid would be looking for her by now.

"Once more, I have no idea what you mean by all this, but I don't have time for you fools. This place will not be allowed to exist for much longer now."

Had Layla been the person before she fell into the coma, she wouldn't have been able to do anything about this place. But because of her coma, she had learned a lot, and she had also learned how to use her link to get access to the dragon's power.

Because the dragon had eaten her core, the connection between the pair was one that even death could not undo.

Layla harnessed the power of the dragon, and her body glowed. Magic gathered at her fingertips more smoothly than it had ever before.

"A-A dragon? What have we done? W-We made a mistake. Please, forgive us all!"

The cult leader begged as it bowed to Layla and asked her for forgiveness. But Layla was not in the mood to do that.

She was not a naive girl who would forgive someone just because they apologized to her once.

"I am not in a mood, so I won't be able to do it. Now, goodnight. I hope you get reborn in a better next life."

Layla had a warm smile on her face as she ended two dozen lives in that cult. These people had tried to kill her, but they ended up becoming her prey anyway.

The cave she was in collapsed due to her powers, but Layla was the only thing that survived.

Once done, Layla stood on her shaky feet and moved slightly.

It was difficult to move her legs since they had not been used in a while. It felt like pins were pinching them all the time, but the more Layla walked, the better she felt about walking.

It also became easier for her to see things, and she finally found a mirror to take a look at herself.

The face that looked back at her was not her own. Or rather, it was not the face she was used to seeing for herself.

She was no longer a six-year-old but had grown up to be at least eighteen.

Despite her coma, her body looked well-developed and well-proportionate. She also looked radiant, almost as if the magic was getting out of her skin and moving all around her.

But the most important and striking thing was the temporary features she had gotten because of what she did.

The pair of small but curled horns on top of her head and the stilts in her eyes made it clear that she was not 100% human.

'Tsk, if someone were to see me now, they would take me as a monster. I need to hide while I calm down, and these features disappear. I am sure they are temporary.'

Layla also experienced this side effect during her coma when she used too much of the dragon's borrowed power.

But subconsciousness was different than reality, where she had grown a pair of horns just by thinking about it.

It was not as bad as it could have been, but it felt Layla in a worried state. She leaned her hand upward to feel her horns, only to hear a loud noise in the distance.

Something was charging toward her at full speed, and Layla felt her nervousness rise.

She did not know what was heading toward her, but she could tell that it was powerful.

That thing lunged at her, and Layla was ready to counter before she noticed the flash of black. She changed her mind at the last second.

Instead of leaning forward to kill that thing, Layla opened her arms to catch the entity burrowing itself into her arms. Layla felt like she had woken up for the first time since she woke up.
