Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 190: Ch 190: A horrible feeling - Part 2
"System, show me where I am. I need to know my exact location."
Layla asked the system to open the map and show her location. She had noticed how the forest looked familiar, and she felt a weird sense that she knew where she was.
Staying in her subconsciousness allowed Layla to recall many details about the original story she had forgotten.
What she did not remember, her brain did, and she was able to refresh much of her memory about this story.
This dark and gloomy forest also felt familiar, and she felt relieved once she looked at the name of this place.
"Dark Shadow Forest? Perfect. I never expected fate to lend me such a hand."
Layla felt satisfied to know where she had ended up coming. Mainly because this forest was also the place where the only Temple that worshiped the God of Magic was situated.
"Tsk, it's a pity that the original work did not have a detailed explanation for this part. No human was able to get this god's protection."
But that was what made this god such a powerful force.
His magic was not shared among others; he was also the most powerful god of the three.
Layla did not need his contract or even his protection. She just wanted God to know what was about to happen to this world.
One of the main reasons this world had fallen into such a dark place was that none of the gods saw the end coming. Even the gods of fate and prediction were taken by surprise and killed off first when the time came.
"Let's go…do you have a name? No, of course, you don't have one. Usually, a dragon's partner gives them a name. Shall we go with Luna? It's easier to remember."
Layla asked, but the dragon did not seem to mind the basic name it had been given.
Dragons were prideful creatures that could kill someone if they did not like something. They were also not patient and liked to make a mess. That came with being the strongest beings with no natural predators.
But Luna did not seem like a dragon. It felt more like a lazy dog that could not get up and check what happened until it was too late.
It was also small enough to rest on Layla's shoulder and not move an inch as she walked through the forest.
Because Luna was near Layla, no creature dared to approach her, making her journey much smoother.
She reached the temple's gates without much difficulty, but this was where the real test began.
"I am here. Now, the only thing left is to move forward. There would be no going back once I entered this temple."
Layla was worried about being allowed to enter this temple, which was not a place where ordinary people could enter.
She could feel the strong barrier repelling people and trying to keep something inside.
But Layla was fearless, and she finally breached the barrier.
The bright light assaulting her senses almost made her go blind, but she blinked and forced her eyes to open slowly.
It took her a long time to adjust to the light, but she could open them quite well once she did.
"What is this place? Is that the temple? Somehow, it looks different."
Layla commented as she saw the drastic change in scenery before her.
Gone was the forest and that dense tree population. Instead, it had been replaced by limitless cliffs and blue skies way above the grounds.
The temple, which had been quiet and empty until now, was suddenly filled with the hustle and bustle of people from all around.
No matter where Layla looked, she could only see more and more people, causing her to feel as if something was wrong with this place.
But she did not give up looking around, and she quickly backed away until she collided with the barrier that had been cast to keep this place from collapsing.
That caused people to notice her, and they all froze. Suspicion filled their eyes as they regarded Layla with a wary look.
Suddenly, she felt someone attacking her, and Layla backed away before that attack could hit her.
The weapon missed her quite a wide margin, but Layla was not given time to rest.
"Who are you, and what do you want? This place is not friendly with trespassers. So, if you want to be here, you must prove that you deserve to be here."
Someone asked as they rushed at Layla.
She was about to fight back when she felt her side blaze suddenly, and before she knew it, a huge dragon was blocking her way with its body.
*Garr*
The dragon looked annoyed and pissed off. It growled at the people to keep them at bay while it protected Layla with its body.
Most of these people had never seen a dragon before, so they all looked awed. They could say nothing to a dragon anyway except have their jaws dropped in fear and awe.
"I-Is that a dragon? A living dragon? Hurry up and tell the Master that a dragon is here."
Someone yelled, and there was a lot of movement around Layla suddenly. The attitude of the people around her changed as soon as she showed that she could control a dragon.
"O-Our apologizes, esteemed dragon trainer. We did not know who you were and what you were here for. But now that we know, we have nothing but respect for you and your companion. Please, come inside and allow us to serve you."
The lady bowed as she welcomed Layla and Luna inside the temple. She looked nervous and excited simultaneously, and Layla quickly followed them inside. She felt as if she was here for a reason.
The deeper Layla walked inside that temple, the more she felt like she was dancing to someone else's tone. But this time, she accepted it and made the best of it.
