Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 192: Ch 192: A request for help - Part 2
The tension in the air made Layla look tense, and she looked at the statue in front of her with a hopeful expression.
But her hopes were dashed as soon as she tried to make something of them.
[Child who came here from beyond, I understand your frustration and why you feel like the world is about to end. However, nothing is wrong with the flow of the creator. There is no need for you to worry.
You have been tasked with a responsibility that weighs the world's destiny. It would be best if you focus on that instead of spending your time on fruitless ventures]
Somehow, Layla felt she had expectations of this god, which was her first mistake.
Most of the gods in this world were detached and could care less about human affairs, but she had hoped that one of the three main gods would at least feel concerned about the end of this world.
"So, you have no intention of helping us out while this world meets its end? That's fine with me. I wanted your help to make things easier for the human race, but your involvement is unnecessary for my plans."
The god was necessary when Layla did not have a dragon. But now that she had a dragon, she did not need the god to show her the way and support her.
She had said it to annoy the god, but Layla did not expect the air to turn as tense as it did at her declaration.
[Your arrogance is not appreciated, child of human. If you continue to be this stubborn, then I would have no choice but to end your life. Perhaps being reborn again would change your perspective on what you can and cannot do as a human-]
Luna did not like what was said, so she opened her mouth and breathed magical fire at the stone.
It was not a normal fire, drawing a cursed flinch from the god.
No human could hurt a god, no matter what they did. But a dragon was an existence on par with the gods.
This world had no origin story, and even the original did not mention how it had been created. It only said that three gods were born alongside dragons at the beginning.
So, technically, gods and dragons were at a similar power level. But unlike gods, dragons could not share their power with humans (most of the time. Layla and Luna were special cases), and dragons also liked to live in seclusion.
[Tsk, this is why I do not like you greedy human children, and I will not share my power with you all. You gain a little power and let it get to your head. What more do you need now after you have a dragon on your side?]
The god asked, and it was a good question to ask.
Having a dragon by their side would be enough to dominate the world for almost anyone who was not Layla. The only people who could interfere with her would be another dragon. But even that was not a given.
"Unfortunately, my goal is not to dominate this world but to save it. Please consider what I told you and decide whether you want to help.
The evidence behind what I said would start to show up soon enough. After all, it is time for the original story to start."
There was no answer from the god of magic this time, but Layla felt that the entity had heard her out. Now, it was up to the god to decide whether it wanted to get involved.
Layla had finished her mission, and it was time to head out.
"Luna, there is no need for you to be this tense. We are heading home now."
Layla patted the dragon on the head before she headed out. This time, no one came to stop her, but she could feel people looking at her and whispering as she walked past them.
The illusion disappeared as soon as she excited that realm, and Layla quickly marked this place down.
Now that she had informed the god of the possible future, it was only a matter of time before it joined this war.
All three major gods lamented not joining the war on time and helping out. But this time, Layla had ensured no room for errors.
"One thing is resolved. Even if God Lucius did not agree to help us out now, I am sure he would change his mind soon enough. We need to start preparing to head back as well now."
Layla assured the dragon before she patted its head and signaled for the dragon to turn invisible.
There was a town nearby where Layla decided to wait for Mary and others to show up. She knew waiting in one place would be better than moving around.
The city she ended up entering was Kalris.
It was a city Layla knew well because it had a famous scene in the original work.
"So, this is the city where the male lead fights for the female lead's honor when someone proposes to her and asks her to be their mistress? Somehow, this place looks different than I expected."
The novel described this place as a rowdy town where misfits gathered to make a name for themselves.
This place had no order or structure, but it did have the philosophy that strong could do anything as long as they had the strength to back their decision. It was the perfect place for all the people who valued strength to gather.
But that was not why Layla was here. She was here because she had nowhere else to go and needed a soft bed under her back to relax.
'Tsk, I have become a spoilt brat, and I am not even ashamed to admit it. I need a soft bed and a pillow to get a good night's sleep. Mary has spoiled me a lot more than I expected.'
