Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 211: Ch 211: The Attack - Part 1
These people's illusions about Layla and their ability to subdue her easily were crushed by Layla within seconds.
As soon as one of these people had died, the others looked more alert, and their eyes looked for ways to be able to escape. They no longer felt they could take her on and win this fight.
"What's wrong? Didn't you say that you could take me on? And that you had other uses for me because I was beautiful? Are you not going to try anymore?"
Layla asked smilingly, but her words made these people flinch. They stepped back, realizing they had made a grave mistake they could no longer take back.
"F-Fuck! Hurry up and run away. That girl is crazy. I don't know where that warrior we were asked to take care of it, but I don't want to stick my head in crazy for that pitiful amount of reward."
The boss of these killers spoke as he ordered his people to run away.
"Hey, I wouldn't try to run away if I were you, especially not that way. Oh, it is your fault you did not listen to me. I tried to warn you not to go that way."
Layla spoke in a fake sympathetic voice as she watched these people try to open the door that led to their deaths.
As soon as the door opened, fire jumped at these killers, and they ended up being burned to ashes.
"Tsk, I told these people not to take such measures, but then they went ahead and ended their lives. What do I do with their charred bodies now? Luna, we need to get rid of the evidence as well."
Layla told the dragon that she had made her shoulder its resting spot. The dragon let out a lazy yawn before it flickered its wings.
Magic cleaned this place up more advanced than anything Layla had ever done. Before she knew it, she could not see a single speck of dust or blood anywhere.
"A dragon's power is too handy. Now, shall we go to sleep? We have a huge journey ahead of us tomorrow."
Layla spoke softly as she petted her dragon before opening her room door and sleeping.
She kept an eye (her magic and traps did) on other intruders, but no one approached her once she fell asleep.
...
"Are you ready to head out? You can ditch your armor and mask now that we are alone. We are not a threat to your safety."
Adam pointed to Layla, who had decided to wear the armor again.
She knew that she could ditch the armor and tell these two her identity, but she did not want others to know who she was just yet.
As much as Layla trusted the male and female leads, she also knew nothing about what had happened since she fell unconscious. It is possible that these two were her enemies now, and she needed to be careful of them.
"Rosette, stop trying to get him to drop his armor. If you are curious about how our guard looks, you must wait for him to get comfortable with us and show us his face."
Adam pointed out in a calm voice.
Unlike the pink-haired female lead, he seemed much more mature and level-headed. This was a surprise, and Layla had not expected to hear from the male lead.
Layla did not show her face, but her amusement must have shown on her face because Adam looked uncomfortable when he addressed her.
"What? Why are you looking at me with those eyes? What the hell did I do to gather your attention? If you have something to say, then just say it."
Adam asked with an uncomfortable expression on his face. He pretended he did not care whether he was being judged, but his profile in the original novel told all about his internal struggles and thoughts.
It must be eating away at him to have Layla look at him but not say anything.
Layla's lack of answers made the situation even more awkward than it already was. She tapped her feet to show her agitation, but that turned out to be more of a distraction than helping her out.
They traveled for a little while before Rosette decided to speak up.
"By the way, do you know why we travel like this? It is because we are looking for someone. Our leader, Lady Layla, is missing, and we are looking around for her. Do you have any idea where she might be?"
Rosette asked in a solemn voice.
Her voice did not give away what she thought about this situation, but it was clear that she had feelings about this issue….and many of those feelings.
"Lady Layla? Can you describe her to me or something? I don't think I've ever heard of her before."
Layla lied through her teeth but wanted to know more about her character and what Rosette thought about it.
This was a gamble, and her heart skipped a beat when Rosette's eyes turned dangerous. She clenched her fist while biting her lips to show anger and annoyance.
"How can you not know Lady Layla? She is-"
"Rose, please! I've told you before that Layla is only well-known to the general public with her name. Not many people know what she looks like or even her identity. You cannot expect everyone to know Layla when you tell them about her."
Adam did damage control, but it backfired. Instead of calming down, Rosette turned toward him, annoyed.
"Tsk, you are beginning to annoy me, Adam. Sometimes, tolerating you is hard, but I won't say anything if you believe in this."
Rosette pouted before she turned her head around to look outside. She was not hiding her disappointment in her friend and his thoughts about her and her beliefs.
Rosette pretended to be tired of all the bullshit she was hearing about, but the real tiredness could be seen on Adam's face as he looked at his partner.
