Reborn as the Villain in a Romance Fantasy
Chapter 238: Ch 238: Breaking the Curse - Part 2
When Layla opened the door, a loud noise was heard. She walked inside and did not look around as she sat down on the couch opposite Mary.
She noticed how the kid looked, relieved to see her. She was sure Mary had grilled the poor kid and made him feel a little traumatized by her actions. The kid opened his mouth and sighed in relief as soon as he was no longer alone.
"Miss, where did you find such an amusing toy for me? First, that illusion, and now this? You also brought Raziel for me. Moments like these make me glad that I serve you."
Mary spoke with as much happiness and charm as she could show. Her face seemed lit up, and her eyes showed care and acceptance as she looked at Layla and the kid.
Layla sighed in disappointment, and Raziel understood the assignment. He placed himself between Layla and Mary to cut off the demoness's line of sight, which was making the unnamed kid nervous.
"Kid, you need to breathe. It almost looks as if you are about to be killed by someone. Just relax your breath and let it escape your mouth naturally."
Layla placed a hand on the kid's back to put it and help him breathe. But her touch had the opposite effect of what she wanted, and the kid let out a loud gasp as he clutched his chest and tried to calm his fast-beating heart down.
This place did not seem dangerous, but his instincts still told him to be careful. It felt as if he was being watched by a lot of predators that could end his life in a second.
"I…I am fine. I have never been in a place this refined, so I don't know how to act. Other than that, I am completely fine and have no problem."
The kid assured Layla, but his hands were shaking just so slightly. He looked increasingly nervous by the second, and Layla did not blame him.
She placed a hand on the kid's shoulder this time and gave it a gentle squeeze.
"It's fine. Take your time. In the meantime, I will start with undoing your curse. Luna, you know what you need to do."
The kid looked confused and opened his mouth to ask who 'Luna' was. But he did not get to ask his question when he felt a sudden burst of warmth pass through his body as magic made its way through him.
He could instinctively tell that this magic was helping him out, but it was also beginning to burn from the inside. The intensity of magic he was experiencing was a little too much…
*Gasp*
The kid let out a gasp of pain as he felt his insides burn. It was hurting him, but in a way that was not dangerous or life-threatening. It was just overwhelming.
"Lune, be gentle with the kid. He cannot take the same intensity of magic that most of us can. I would appreciate it if you do not kill him off."
Layla spoke softly, and the intensity of that burning feeling lessened instantly. The kid gasped in relief as he felt his core being unbound slowly.
There was no way for this kid to keep track of how long he had been under the influence of that magic, but he knew that once he opened his eyes, he could feel much better than before.
The stiffness in his limbs seemed to be gone, and he could move them around as he wanted to. This made him feel much more alive and active than before.
Luna let out a chirp as soon as she was done. It was her way of indicating that she was done and not disturbing her for the time being.
The dragon curled around herself before she went back to sleep.
"How are you feeling? Do you feel better than before?"
Layla asked the kid as she watched Luna enter her world. From experience, she knew there was no point in trying to get Luna to do anything now.
The kid looked startled when Layla suddenly called out, but then he blinked his eyes and noticed that the constant weight that plagued him was no longer there.
"I feel fine. Moreover, the organization I was telling you about. It-"
The kid stopped speaking as he continued. He clutched his neck and noticed that the usual weight blocking his voice was no longer there.
It stunned the kid, and he blinked before trying to say things he knew would get him into trouble.
"The organization is a fraud, trying to trick people. I tried to warn everyone, but they were all too charmed by that organization to pay me or other kids any attention. I-"
Once again, the kid paused as he waited for the pain to assault him. He felt as if he should feel a prick in his throat or something similar because he had spoken too much. But the more he said, the more he was convinced he was safe.
Nothing of notice was happening to him after all.
"Looks like your seal is gone. You should not have any problem telling us about anything that happened, right? Then, start speaking. We don't have the whole day to sit around and talk about useless things."
Layla spoke with confidence, but the kid suddenly looked sharp, and his eyes became determined to find out the truth.
"Alright! I will tell you what happened and what that organization is up to. It all started on a night almost six months ago. Do you remember those riots that took place for the working class? It was the trigger and also a front. In reality, a bigger conspiracy was brewing behind the surface that could shake the whole foundation of this country.
And it is all because of 'him.' He calls himself a 'son of god' and the only one who can save us from the impending doom that will put this world into deeper peril."
