'He's a good speaker. I can tell why he was the face of this competition. He knows what to say to make people fall for his words.'

The announcer was not using any magic but simply speaking facts.

He also catered to the majority so they would agree with him. It was a nice strategy, and Layla was a little impressed.

But she was not convinced by this annoyance.

"I don't think it matters if someone has a few more months of training. I have hard work issues and put in as much effort as possible to get to this place. I won't give up my place just because you want me to."

The other commoner who had placed in the top 10 spoke up.

He sounded angry, and for good reasons. Layla wanted to join in but let the other man speak first.

"Constant Liam, hold your tongue. I already said we must investigate this problem, so please keep your temper. If you can't, we will have to disqualify you."

The announcer warned the constant, and Liam went quiet.

He still looked angry but decided it was not a cause worth fighting about.

"Please wait an hour for me to review what happened."

The announcer pinned Layla and Liam as targets before he left. This made them the odd ones; others pointed toward them and gossiped.

Layla did not care what these kids thought of her; she just found a chair and sat in it.

Of course, that caused the young masters who did not like her to frown and turn toward each other.

Their eyes shined with a light of agreement, and Layla knew she was about to face trouble.

"Hey, get off the chair, you cheater."

"Yeah! Someone like you does not belong here. You cheated your way into finals. So, you don't get to sit at the same place as we do."

The kids continued to call out to Layla, but her lack of response triggered them even more.

Finally, one of the kids could not take being ignored like this anymore, and he decided to assault Layla physically.

"You stupid bitch! Who said that you could sit in that chair? Get off it."

Layla noticed that the kid was about to try to push her off the chair, so she quickly got off to avoid him. She also cast a spell that would make the child lose control of himself.

As a result, the child ended up smacking his legs and stomach in the chair, and he let out a painful moan.

It was a petty move from Layla since the opponent was just a kid who was 1/5th her true age. But that did not stop Layla from acting out and showing her dominance.

"You all can gossip as much as you want to. But, if you think that I am here because I cheated, then you better think again. I won't mind taking out a few more of you before the final round."

Layla threatened as she held her position.

It was not difficult for Layla to stand out like this among this small crowd.

No adult was around to stop her; even if there were, she doubted they could.

"What proof do you have of your power? You could have-"

"She's telling the truth. I can do that if you want someone to vouch for her abilities. She almost defeated me."

Daidus Lukewater was a virtuous kid who could not see past his shortcomings. He was also proud and fought with Layla right before all this happened.

He was the last person she expected to help her out. But here he was, taking Layla's side and also defending her.

When Layla looked at him questioningly, the man quickly looked away with a flush on his face.

Layla would have considered this a crush if their age had been a little older. But at present, she could only think of it as embarrassment.

Whatever the reason had been, it no longer mattered.

Since the future Duke had spoken up, the other kids were no longer in a position to ask her any questions.

Layla watched as the kids huddled around the future duke and asked him questions. He tried his best to maintain his position but had already admitted to losing to Layla once.

There was no way most kids would take him seriously for his power.

But that was the least of Layla's problems. Most of her attention was taken away by Liam looking at her.

His eyes felt like they would dig deep into her soul and drag out all of Layla's secrets.

She had seen kids like these before. The kids had been forced to grow up too fast and did not know what to do anymore.

It was always a sorry sight to see these kids, but the more Layla lived, the more she saw of these kids.

After a while, Layla had become desensitized to it.

She and the other kids waited for the verdict about what would happen to her and the participants.

It took a lot longer than she expected for the announcer to return, and when he did, he looked pale and lifeless.

He also made a sorry face when he looked at Layla; she knew the news was not good.

"I am sorry, but after reviewing what happened, we decided you violated the previous round's rules. As such, we cannot allow you to do whatever you want.

I hope you understand what I am saying to you. If you know what is good for you, you won't interfere with this decision."

The announcer warned Layla and Liam about the consequences of going against him and the other nobles.

He might have thought he could suppress them with his power and authority, but things would not have been that easy.

Layla had no interest in backing down, and she could tell that Liam would not back down either.

She was interested to see what game this announcer had planned next for her.
