"If we finish all the formalities, we should head out now. I have already filled out official forms for you two to accompany me. Don't worry! We won't be going too far."

Layla assured, and Rosette had a happy smile on her face.

It was likely the first time the pink-haired girl was leaving the temple, but it would not be the last.

The book describes how the female lead felt when she was taken out of the temple for the first time. The feeling of gratitude and acceptance that this action invoked in her made her look away from the devious deeds her master had made her do.

Layla did not think those same feelings would extend to her since Rosette was still young and not as desperate to get out as she had been in her original timeline, but she did want some of Layla's goodwill if she could get it.

"Woah! So, this is the outside world? It looks…. ordinary! There is not much of a difference between here and the temple."

Rosette sounded a little disappointed as she stepped outside the temple.

"That's a given! We are still inside the temple boundary, and the real town doesn't start until we hit the market. Now, stop bouncing everywhere and stay close to us."

Adam assured as he tried to grab Rosette and keep her close.

They both looked like kids enjoying their time outside, making Layla smile looking at them.

She had never been able to act her age because it felt childish to her, but to see others doing this was not that bad.

"Miss, should I do something about our escorts?"

Raziel asked in a deadpan voice as he watched the pair play around and not do their work. But Layla waved her hand to let them be.

"Let kids be kids for now. I just asked for them because I thought it would be good for them to go out occasionally. I don't need their protection…But marking them with a tracking spell might be a good idea."

She had read the original work, so Layla knew how accident-prone these two were.

They had a habit of getting into danger, even if they were just standing at a place. Layla did not doubt that this situation would be similar if she did not keep an eye on her.

"Raziel, do you feel anything when you look at Rosette? Does your heart flutter?"

Layla asked, only to get the most deadpan look she had ever gotten from the man.

"I don't know what you mean, miss. I am healthy and will have no issues escorting you to our destination. However, that is also fine if you prefer not to have me here. I will have someone else take over my post for now-"

"No need. I was just asking because I was curious. Think nothing of it…. where did those two kids go?"

Layla asked as she looked around. She only briefly took her eyes off them; they were already gone.

"Great! This is all ending up in a disaster. Now, what should I do about all of this?"

Layla asked, but she did not get an answer. Not that she expected to get one, either.

"Miss, come this way. I can sense those kids, and they went this way. Do you want me to track them down?"

Raziel asked in a tense voice. He felt slightly guilty about distracting Layla with his questions and causing this problem.

Layla just sighed as she looked at her partner.

"Yes, find them for me. This time, I will put a spell on them as soon as I meet them."

Layla rubbed her forehead as she followed after her guard.

Looking after kids was difficult, and Layla saluted any parents who dared to do it all the time.

It had not even been an hour, and Layla was exhausted already.

...

"Rosette, stop running. Do you even know where you are going? You will get lost in the forest if you keep going like this."

Adam yelled at his partner, and Rosette finally stopped running.

She had been excited to be free for the first time and could not handle herself.

As a result, she reached this deep into the forest and did not even realize it.

"Huh? Where are we, and when did I walk here? All I remember is walking out with Lady Layla and…where are we?"

Rosette finally noticed that she was lost. She tried to find her way back but could not remember where she had come from.

Adam reached her in record time, but he was just as lost as she was.

"Shit! Looks like we managed to get lost here. What should we do now? Rosette, don't cry! It will all be fine! We will find a way to head back."

Adam assured her with a slight smile. He tried to be calm and positive for Rosette, but it did not help.

It just made things worse, and Rosette started crying in earnest.

"I…. I am sorry! I did not mean to get us lost like this. I will find a way out, I swear. But I just…"

"This is not your fault, Rosette. I-It is all that Layla's fault for taking us out and not even keeping an eye on us. So, if you are going to blame someone, blame her…"

Rosette cried even harder at that excuse.

"It is not her fault! She did us a favor by taking us out. I-I can't believe that we managed to get lost and cause her trouble-"

Tears flew out of pink eyes, and Adam sighed annoyedly.

He wanted to make Rosette stop crying but did not know how to.

"It will all be fine. You said that Layla is a good person, right? Then she will forgive you for what happened. So, stop crying! And also, you need to pick yourself up if you want to repay her for her kindness, right?"

Adam asked, and Rosette finally pulled herself together.

"Repay? Yes! We do need to repay Layla when we grow up. I will repay her for all this."

Rosette made a firm decision, and her eyes hardened.
