Greta reached out, desperate to pull Cameron into a hug, hoping to offer somefort. But Cameron just red at her, his eyes red and filled with usation. "Stay away from me. I don''t want to see you."

Greta''s defenses crumbled. Tears streaming down her face, she pleaded, "Cameron, all you ever do is me me. Have you ever stopped to see that I truly care?"

"Nina was sick, and her treatment drained us every day. You worked yourself to the bone just to cover her medical bills. You had no time for a wife drowning in postpartum depression, no time to notice when Nellie''s kidney problems red up, and definitely no time for Nina. I was the one who stepped up, doing the things a husband should have done. I put up with Nellie''s temper, took all of Nina''s cold res and misunderstandings, and still had to watch you and Nellie parade your love around in front of me. Cameron, you treat Nellie so well, but you''re cruel to me."

    Cameron said nothing.

His hands balled into fists, knuckles white. When he finally spoke, his voice was rough and unsteady. “Greta, my wife and daughter are gone. That''s a tragedy nothing can describe."

He suddenly looked up, eyes bloodshot and cold. "You were the one taking care of them, and now they''re dead. And you want me to thank you for it?”

Greta shook, her whole body trembling. "What are you saying? You can''t possibly think I had anything to do with their deaths, can you?"

Cameron nodded slowly. "When I left, they were both okay. Sure, their health wasn''t great, but there''s no way they should''ve died like that."

Greta broke downpletely, sobbing uncontrobly. "Cameron, how can you be so heartless? I''m the one who''s always been there for your family, and now you turn on me like this?"

Suddenly, she spun around, grabbed a fruit knife from the table, and pressed it to her wrist. "If you don''t believe me, then I''ll die right here to prove it!"

But Cameron lunged forward and caught her arm, stopping her before she could hurt herself.

He opened his mouth, but all that came out was a tired, broken whisper. "Greta, just go. Leave me alone."

    Greta ran out, sobbing.

Cameron buried his head in his hands, his body wracked with violent sobs. "My love... my little girl... I will find out what happened to you. And if someone did this, I swear I''ll make them pay."

Nathalie stood frozen, her mind reeling.

She remembered everything from her past life the way Cameron had forced Nina to donate blood to Greta, which led to Nina dying from an infection. And she, crushed by her daughter''s death and he own failing health, had ended her own life.  ?wnovel

How could Cameron, the person responsible, not know how they died? He was the one who caused it all!

Nathalie realized there was more to this story than she''d thought.

She quietly followed Greta out of the room.

The woman who''d been sobbing her heart out in front of Cameron was someone else entirely once she stepped into the hallway. Greta''s face suddenly glowed, almost smug.

Nathalie''s gut told her Greta wasn''t as innocent as she pretended.

She tailed Greta down the hospital corridor, all the way to the director''s office at the end of the hall.

Greta slipped inside and immediately locked the door behind her, ncing over her shoulder just to be sure.

She went up to the hospital director, anxiety written all over her face. "Cameron''s starting to get suspicious. What do we do? If he finds out about the IV needle, we''re finished."

The director shot her a cold look. "Why are you so scared? The needle''s gone, and Nina''s already è been cremated. No one, not even a geniusdetective, could figure out that the virus that killed her was nted."

Greta exhaled, relief flooding her face. "But Cameron still thinks I killed Nellie. What do I do?"

"Nellie was an easy mark. All you had to do was lie to her, and she actually believed Cameron forced Nina to give you blood. I''m betting the drugs we gave her made her start seeing things, too. That''s why she spiraled and couldn''t think straight anymore."
