Reborn: I Won't Chase You Anymore, School Prince
Chapter 441: Four’s Company
CHAPTER 441: CHAPTER 441: FOUR’S COMPANY
Ariana Grant quickly returned to her dormitory to sort out her things.
After Wendy Alden and Ashley Shaw were taken away, things hadn’t been fully packed.
Just as Ariana left, another girl with ear-length short hair pushed the door open and entered.
She was alone, pushing two suitcases, dressed simply, and upon seeing the two, she smiled.
"Hello... Are you also living here?"
Ashley Shaw answered first, "Yes, are you in this dormitory too?"
"Yes, I’m Lynn Redding, nice to meet you."
"Hello, I’m Ashley Shaw, just call me Ashley."
Jocelyn Hayes was even more succinct, "Jocelyn Hayes."
The three briefly got acquainted and then began to focus on their own tasks.
Ashley Shaw finished organizing her things, placed her toiletries in the bathroom, and came out to see Lynn Redding hadn’t even made her bed yet but had opened her laptop to play games.
Although she didn’t know what Lynn was mumbling, it was clear she was talking to her teammates in the game.
In a previous life, Ashley also had a roommate who loved gaming, so she considered herself quite knowledgeable about gaming fanatics.
They generally weren’t afraid of trouble, but wouldn’t actively seek it either.
Because whenever they had time, they’d spend it on gaming, hardly having time for drama or games.
In any case, compared to Wendy Alden, she was certainly much easier to get along with.
Ashley Shaw just wanted to seriously learn something over these four years, to be able to work in a hospital later, so she really liked Lynn Redding, who didn’t cause trouble.
The class meeting time was set for six-thirty in the evening.
During which, Ashley Shaw and Jocelyn Hayes went to the school cafeteria with Ariana Grant for a meal.
The food in the cafeteria was much tastier and richer than they had imagined, not just rice, but various kinds of noodles too, offering students from across the country a variety of choices.
During the meal, someone recognized Ashley Shaw, which made the three feel inexplicably suppressed while eating.
Finally, after finishing the meal, Ashley suggested bringing some dinner back for Lynn Redding.
Jocelyn Hayes asked puzzledly, "She didn’t ask us to; why should we bring some for her? What if she doesn’t need it?"
"If she doesn’t need it, that’s her issue. We just do our part," Ashley said.
"What if she thinks we’re trying to please her? I don’t want anyone to think I’m someone who likes to ingratiate myself."
"Don’t worry. Relationships between people are reciprocal. If you treat her well, she’ll feel it. If she doesn’t, that’s her issue, meaning she’s not worth our effort."
"Is that right..."
Ashley Shaw realized that Jocelyn Hayes indeed seemed a bit slow regarding interpersonal relationships.
She explained, "See, when you were harassed, I helped you, and you felt my goodwill, so you’ve always been nice to me. So these things are reciprocal. If you hadn’t felt it at that time, I wouldn’t be such good friends with you now."
Using Jocelyn Hayes as an example, Jocelyn understood.
"Then I’ll bring extra for her."
"No need, just bring one normal serving of noodles; too much might feel burdensome to her."
Jocelyn Hayes nodded, understanding somewhat, saying, "I realize making friends is truly a big lesson."
After speaking, she looked at Ariana Grant with envy.
"Ariana, really envy you for knowing Ashley so early."
Ariana Grant smiled warmly, "No choice, lucky by nature."
"Then I’m also lucky; I couldn’t make a single friend before, now suddenly I have two, it’s almost overwhelming with happiness."
Her previous friends included only Jensen Hayes.
But topics to talk about between boys and girls were too few, so even with someone to chat with, she occasionally wished for a few female friends.
Now, it’s come true.
The three chatted as they brought noodles back for Lynn Redding.
Just as Ashley had predicted, the fifteen-dollar noodles quickly bridged the gap between them.
Lynn Redding even began talking about her own life.
Her dream was to be an esports player, and her idol was The Wolves from Stardust Team.
But her dad happened to be a doctor—a doctor in a small town clinic.
So, her dad really hoped she’d go to The Medical University and work in a large hospital.
"My parents divorced early; I haven’t seen my mom since I was four, and my dad’s dream is this, so I could only apply to The Medical University."
As Lynn spoke, her eyes reddened, "But I really love gaming. If it weren’t for my dad, I would definitely pursue this path."
"No worries!" Ashley Shaw patted her shoulder, saying, "There’s a saying, ’A doctor who can’t play games isn’t a good doctor.’"
"Who said that?"
"It must have been Confucius."
"Pfft..." Lynn laughed, expressing her true feelings, "When I first entered the dorm, seeing how beautiful you both are, I thought you’d be hard to get along with. Turns out, I judged by appearance."
Jocelyn Hayes spoke more bluntly, "No wonder you didn’t really talk to us at first, just started gaming after entering the dorm."
Lynn felt a bit embarrassed, "Sorry about that, bear with me!"
"Don’t worry, we didn’t take it to heart," Jocelyn quickly changed her tone, saying, "But have you ever openly talked to your dad? If you have a clear conversation, maybe he’ll stop forcing you to be a doctor."
Lynn sighed, "At this point, telling him won’t change anything; might as well go along with him."
By then, she had made up her mind to go through the motions, later not being able to get into a big hospital would make her dad accept she wasn’t cut out for being a doctor, so he’d stop forcing her.
Suddenly, Ashley Shaw recalled a news story from another life.
It was about a female doctor who, after making hospital rounds, saw a young patient gaming, probably playing poorly, and she showed off her skills.
This scene happened to be filmed by a lifestyle-loving female internet celebrity in the same ward and posted online.
Thus, the female doctor became famous and received lots of gaming platform invitations.
Eventually, the female doctor crossed fields to become a formidable gaming industry leader.
But Ashley had at the time only skimmed through the news, not noticing the female doctor’s name.
Looking at it now, could Lynn Redding be that female doctor?
But Ashley quickly dismissed the thought, thinking it couldn’t be such a coincidence.
The relationship between the three dorm girls speedily grew closer, thanks to a bowl of noodles, during which Wendy Alden and her mother returned.
The two entered without saying a word, just hurriedly packed and left.
Just before leaving the dorm, Wendy’s mom softly uttered "Thank you."
Ashley Shaw gently curved her lips in response.
When the two left, it was almost time for the class meeting.
Originally planned for Ashley and Jocelyn to head to the teaching block area together, now Lynn Redding was joining them too.
