Reborn: I Won't Chase You Anymore, School Prince
Chapter 474: Treating Him Like a Child
CHAPTER 474: CHAPTER 474: TREATING HIM LIKE A CHILD
Warren Prescott elongated the vowel sound, saying "Oh?" and asked, "Do you mean that Mark is lying to me?"
Assistant Lowell was sweating profusely from his forehead.
"Me, how could I dare lie to you?"
Warren turned to Ashley Shaw: "So it’s you who’s lying to me?"
Ashley’s mouth twitched, what on earth was all this?
After a second of silence, she said, "He didn’t lie to you, and I didn’t lie to you either. It’s just that he might have gotten the wrong person; the one you like isn’t me, it’s someone else. Assistant Lowell is not very familiar with me, so he might have mixed me up with her."
She paused and looked at Assistant Lowell again, with a smile on her face: "Isn’t that right, Assistant Lowell?"
The expression on Assistant Lowell’s face was one of utter despair.
Both sides are trying to kill him here!
But what could he do?
Ashley had already said things to this extent, so he could only follow her lead and vaguely say, "Mr. Prescott Jr., I’ve been with you for less than three months, maybe I really got it wrong..."
Warren furrowed his brow.
Mark hadn’t said that to him before.
He actually didn’t believe it at all, but looking at Ashley’s expression, there wasn’t the slightest hint of guilt, and she seemed very certain.
And as for Ariana Grant next to them, she also had an expression of "that’s exactly how it is."
He had just met Ariana today, but it was clear she was a timid and honest person. If Ashley was lying, there was no way she’d look so calm.
So could it really be that Assistant Lowell was wrong?
Warren’s mind couldn’t quite wrap around it for a moment.
He had been following Mark’s words and his own instincts to do things.
Now, what Ashley said completely overturned his original worldview, how could he calmly and quickly accept it?
After half a day’s silence, he asked, "Then who is it that I like?"
Ashley responded with calm certainty: "Rosalind Lynch."
Warren tried hard to recall, but now when he tried to remember, his head didn’t hurt, but he felt very irritated.
It was like a computer that was jammed after being used too long, and you’re eager to search a webpage, but it just keeps refreshing without loading, making one irritable.
The name "Rosalind Lynch," even after searching for a while, elicited no reaction.
Not even a basic sense of familiarity.
Unlike with Ashley.
When Mark initially mentioned that name, a very strong, yet indescribable sense of complexity arose in his mind.
He no longer believed what Ashley was saying.
"Do you have any proof?"
Ashley chuckled lightly: "What need is there for proof? Just casually ask someone from our high school and you’ll know."
Rosalind, unlike her and Warren, didn’t repeat a grade. Although she graduated a year earlier, the school was full of her "little brothers."
The little brothers had long spread the word that the one Warren liked was Rosalind Lynch.
Seeing how certain she was, Warren furrowed his brows again.
"But..."
Ashley directly interrupted Warren, saying: "If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn’t have remembered. As soon as you mentioned it, I recalled that several of your old friends have come to Aethelgard to study. If you want to remember, you can find those friends. Maybe something will come to mind."
"What about you?" Warren asked, "You don’t care about me anymore?"
This question left Ashley momentarily speechless.
"How should I care for you..."
"You promised Mark to help me recover my memory."
Assistant Lowell felt another chill run down his back.
Why sell him out again?!
Ashley remained calm, having treated Warren like a child since he lost all his memory, and children do like being cared for, don’t they?
So she calmly replied, "I don’t have that much time to care for you. Tomorrow our classes officially start, and we’ll only have a little time on weekends. You’re not very familiar with me, so instead of waiting for me, finding your old classmates will be just the same."
"So does that mean you’ll have time on weekends?"
Ashley didn’t know how Warren came to that conclusion and patiently said, "There might be, but it’s not certain."
"Then I’ll come find you to play on weekends."
Ashley thought: See, he really is a child, always talking about playing.
She was quite understanding towards "children," so she said, "We’ll see then, if I have time, I’ll play with you, alright?"
Warren nodded contentedly.
Assistant Lowell and Ariana, both of whom hadn’t lost their memory, instantly recognized that Ashley was just humoring a child.
Their expressions varied, but no one said anything.
"Did you all eat enough just now?" Warren said, "I saw you didn’t seem to eat much of the food here, how about we change places?"
Ashley realized then.
The food here really didn’t suit her taste; Warren must have noticed, which is why he asked the server to remove the dishes.
However, she waved her hand and politely declined.
"We also promised a friend to bring something back, so we won’t eat."
Warren asked, "Eating so little, aren’t you hungry?"
Ashley shook her head: "I have a small appetite by nature."
Warren immediately looked at Ariana.
That expression clearly said: Ashley has a small appetite, but surely you don’t, right?
Ariana felt a bit awkward, but she didn’t dare argue with Warren.
So she said, "I have a big appetite, but I’m on a diet recently, I ate enough just now, I can’t have more."
Warren looked regretful.
Had he known earlier, he wouldn’t have teased Noelle, maybe he could’ve kept her a bit longer.
"Since that’s the case, let me take you both for a look around nearby, and get some snacks and fruits to take back..."
Ashley waved her hand again: "No need, we promised a classmate to bring back a cake; we’ll just buy something at the cake shop."
"Then I’ll take you to the cake shop..."
Perhaps fearing Ashley would reject him again, he quickly added: "I’m not full either and want to get a cake to take back."
With him saying that, Ashley couldn’t refuse anymore.
And seeing him like this... he seemed quite pitiable.
Not remembering anything, he probably just wanted to make some friends.
So she nodded in agreement.
Warren’s face showed clear happiness, making Ashley and Ariana find him even more pitiful.
In life, even though some memories are painful, if the happy ones are also gone, the body would become a walking corpse.
After deciding, Assistant Lowell drove them to a chain cake shop.
Ashley picked two palm-sized small cakes, one for Jocelyn Hayes and one for Lynn Redding.
Ariana chose a bag of whole wheat bread for breakfast the next day.
Then it was Warren’s turn to choose.
He came here just as an excuse to spend more time with Ashley. Even though he didn’t remember anything, he really enjoyed being with her.
He was acting purely on instinct now.
So when the two of them looked his way, he subconsciously grabbed the small cake closest to his hand.
Ashley looked over.
She saw that the small cake Warren was holding was a very childish cake with a Pretty Lamb doll on top.
She sighed inwardly: He really has become a child indeed.
