CHAPTER 182: CHAPTER 182: WAKING UP

Once they reached the ICU, everyone worked together to lift Ye Hao onto the hospital bed.

Perhaps it was due to the motion.

Ye Hao slowly awakened.

"Ye Hao, can you hear me?"

"Hao Hao, Hao Hao, are you awake?"

Ye Hao had just woken up and felt a bit dazed.

Gu Yi and Ye’s mother quickly stepped forward and spoke softly.

"Dad, Mom, I’m okay, don’t worry."

Ye Fu said, his eyes slightly red.

Ye’s mother nodded continuously beside him.

Li Yifan also stepped forward to check on Ye Hao’s condition.

Seeing Ye Hao not speaking, Gu Yi assumed his leg was hurting.

She gently lifted the blanket from his leg, carefully checking Ye Hao’s leg.

But since the doctor had wrapped the wound well in gauze, nothing was visible.

Gu Yi covered him again with the blanket.

Poured some water, sat at Ye Hao’s side.

Used a cotton swab to moisten Ye Hao’s lips.

"Why aren’t you talking to me? You have no idea how scared I was with you injured lying in the emergency room?"

Gu Yi felt a bit aggrieved as Ye Hao continued not speaking to her.

"I know."

Ye Hao was startled hearing his own voice.

This sentence seemed reflexive.

He was surprised that his parents listened to what Gu Yi said, suggesting how close they had gotten during his incapacitated state.

She told them to go, and they went, leaving him directly to Gu Yi.

What had Gu Yi done for his parents? Otherwise, with his mother’s temperament, she wouldn’t let Gu Yi take care of him.

"You know, yet you’re not talking to me."

Gu Yi disregarded his patient status, sounded slightly resentfully.

Ye Hao looked at Gu Yi strangely.

Was she being coy with him?

Earlier, with his parents there, it made sense that she pretended.

But now it was just them. Was she continuing the act?

Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao after speaking, wondered why he was staring at her without responding.

"Alright, this isn’t the time to argue with you now. Close your eyes, get some sleep. I’m right here with you."

Noticing Ye Hao’s unusual behavior, Gu Yi chalked it up to his recent recovery and didn’t mind.

She held Ye Hao’s hand, gently kissed it near her lips.

But her act clearly startled Ye Hao.

With energy from who knows where, Ye Hao pulled his hand out from Gu Yi’s grasp.

"I’m a bit tired, go take care of your own things, no need to stay here with me."

Ye Hao said and closed his eyes.

Gu Yi felt Ye Hao really different now.

She only consoled herself, thinking due to Ye Hao’s serious injuries his mind might still be confused.

She stayed quietly at his bedside watching Ye Hao.

Actually, Ye Hao hadn’t fallen asleep.

He knew Gu Yi was watching him, pretending to find a comfortable angle for his head.

Turning his head to the other side.

Gu Yi didn’t mind.

After sitting for a bit, she saw Ye Hao seemed fast asleep.

She lay down at Ye Hao’s bedside, holding Ye Hao’s hand.

She hadn’t rested much these days, constantly waiting outside the ICU for Ye Hao.

Every visit, allowed just twenty minutes at a time.

Now Ye Hao was finally back by her side.

Gu Yi soon fell asleep.

Ye Hao opened his eyes once she was asleep.

He turned over, looked at the top of Gu Yi’s head, then their tightly held hands.

Ye Hao didn’t understand what was happening to himself, his rational side told him to keep his distance from Gu Yi.

But thinking about the deep shadows under her eyes made him feel somewhat tender-hearted.

He tried pulling his hand away, but any shift made Gu Yi tighten her grip.

Eventually, he gave up.

Ye Hao stared at their tightly clasped hands.

Soon enough, he drifted to sleep.

Ye Hao woke up feeling a bit dizzy after sleeping.

He opened his eyes looking at the ceiling, mind blank.

"Hao Hao, did you wake up?"

Seeing him open his eyes, Ye’s mother gently asked.

Ye Hao heard the voice, instinctively looked at the spot where Gu Yi used to sit.

To find his mom sitting there instead of Gu Yi.

Ye Hao felt a hint of disappointment inside.

He couldn’t fathom why he felt this emotion.

"Are you looking for Yiyi? She went to buy towels and toothbrushes, she’ll be back soon."

Ye’s mother noticed Ye Hao looking at her then his hand, guessing he was searching for Gu Yi.

"Mom, I apologize for worrying you, your son was unfilial."

Ye Hao didn’t acknowledge his mother’s remark about seeking Gu Yi.

"It’s alright, son, Mom knows since you left home, these choices weren’t up to you. Mom just feels sorry for you taking such a huge toll."

Ye’s mother spoke while lifting her sleeve to wipe her eyes.
