Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance
Chapter 183: Something’s Wrong
CHAPTER 183: CHAPTER 183: SOMETHING’S WRONG
"Mom, don’t cry, it’s all over."
Ye Hao wanted to lift his hand to wipe away his mother’s tears, but as soon as he moved his leg, the pain was excruciating.
He gasped.
"Alright, you’re just starting to recover, don’t move around. When Yiyi comes back later and sees you not behaving, she’ll criticize you."
Ye’s mother said with a smile.
"Mom, do you really like Gu Yi?"
Ye Hao looked at the expression on his mother’s face.
"Of course, without her, we wouldn’t dare imagine living like we do today. And she’s not only good to you but also to us. What’s wrong, why are you asking this?"
Ye Hao watched his mother’s delighted expression and listened to her praises of Gu Yi.
How come she seems like a completely different person from how he remembers her?
Ye’s mother suddenly felt there was something unusual about Ye Hao today.
Normally, whenever she mentioned Gu Yi’s merits, Ye Hao would always seem proud.
But today, he appeared a bit skeptical with a frown.
"It’s nothing, just odd that Gu Yi seems different from how you describe."
Ye Hao didn’t directly say Gu Yi wasn’t good, but Ye’s mother could still read his implication.
"Hao Hao, what’s wrong with you? Why would you say such things? You’ll hurt Yiyi’s feelings if you talk like this. Just think about all she’s done for the family. Even during your injury, Yiyi stayed with you. While you were in the ICU, she was outside waiting, and since you came here, she’s been by your side."
Ye’s mother finally detected that something was off with Ye Hao.
"Mom, I’m fine, just a bit dizzy."
Ye Hao saw that his mother was getting emotional too, so he didn’t want to directly tell her about what Gu Yi had done, choosing to change the topic instead.
Sure enough, as soon as Ye’s mother heard that Ye Hao was uncomfortable, she immediately became anxious and forgot about scolding him.
"Dizzy? I’ll call a doctor."
"No, Mom, I just need to rest for a while. Could you help me adjust the bed up a bit?"
Ye Hao quickly stopped his mom.
Ye’s mother helped Ye Hao adjust to a comfortable position.
Soon, Gu Yi came back with things she had bought.
"Ye Hao, you’re awake. Are you feeling better? Hungry? The doctor said you still can’t eat other things, so I bought some congee for you. I’ll feed you a bit."
Gu Yi put down the things in her hands and dragged a chair to sit next to Ye Hao.
She prepared to feed him the congee.
"No need, just leave it there, I’ll eat later."
Ye Hao felt a bit uncomfortable at the thought of Gu Yi feeding him.
"I bought it warm, if left it’ll get cold. If you’re not very hungry, we can just eat a little, okay?"
Gu Yi softened her voice to coax him.
Originally, Ye Hao wanted to refuse, but Ye’s mother was giving him signals with her eyes.
"Alright."
Ye Hao reluctantly agreed.
Gu Yi quickly scooped a spoonful and brought it to Ye Hao’s mouth.
Ye Hao glanced at his mom, who kept making gestures for him to eat.
He then looked at Gu Yi, who was also full of expectation.
Ye Hao opened his mouth and took a spoonful.
As Gu Yi prepared to feed the second spoonful.
Ye Hao quickly blocked it with his hand.
"I’ll eat by myself, my leg is injured, my hands are fine, and I’m sitting comfortably."
Ye Hao reached out to take the congee.
Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao, then at his hand.
Ye’s mother watched anxiously from the side.
She also knew that Ye Hao was very stubborn.
"Yiyi, Hao Hao has been determined since he was a child. Even when he was bedridden from illness, he insisted on feeding himself and refused to let me do it. Maybe let him eat on his own."
She quickly stepped forward to mediate.
"Alright, take your time."
Gu Yi wasn’t sure if it was Ye’s mother’s explanation that convinced her, or if it was the look in Ye Hao’s eyes, which seemed to regard her as a stranger, that made her back down.
She handed the bowl over and got up to pour him a cup of water to cool.
In the evening, Gu Yi stayed with Ye Hao in his ward.
After Ye’s mother left, Gu Yi quickly fetched water to wipe Ye Hao’s face.
She wrung out the towel, and Ye Hao quickly took it.
After wiping his face, he handed the towel back to Gu Yi.
And even said thank you.
Gu Yi was taken aback to hear it.
Ye Hao had thanked her before, but never so coldly.
"Ye Hao, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else, dizzy?"
Gu Yi thought Ye Hao must be hurt somewhere, possibly what people often refer to as a concussion.
The more Gu Yi thought about it, the more she believed it.
Otherwise, Ye Hao would recognize her, but his attitude seemed cold.
And when he was with Ye’s mother, he wasn’t particularly enthusiastic either.
Actually, Gu Yi didn’t know that Ye Hao had talked quite a bit to Ye’s mother when she was out.
But when she came, Ye Hao felt a bit awkward, so he even spoke less to his mother.
"No, just feeling a bit sleepy. You should rest early too."
Ye Hao finished speaking and leaned back against the pillow, closing his eyes.
Gu Yi sighed deep down.
She lowered Ye Hao’s bed.
After getting ready at the sink, she pulled out the side chair, laid a quilt on it.
After turning off the ward’s door and light, she lay down.
With the light from the hallway shining in, she glanced over at Ye Hao.
He must be asleep, as he hadn’t made a sound.
Gu Yi sighed again and closed her eyes.
Early the next morning, around five o’clock, a nurse knocked on the door.
To draw Ye Hao’s blood and test his urine.
The nurse drew a vial of blood and left Gu Yi with a urine collection tube and a small cup.
Yesterday, Ye’s mother had been the one helping Ye Hao with a basin when he needed to go.
Since Ye’s mother left, he hadn’t called for her.
"Do you feel like you need to relieve yourself now?"
Gu Yi asked, looking at Ye Hao on the bed.
Ye Hao nearly choked on his saliva hearing it.
"It’s fine, let’s wait until mom comes."
"Why wait for your mom? I’ll get a basin."
Gu Yi went to the bathroom to fetch a basin and was about to lift Ye Hao’s blanket.
"Hey, wait a minute, I’ll do it myself."
Ye Hao quickly held the blanket tight.
Since he had just been moved from the ICU and his thighs were injured, he was currently bare.
Covered only by a cloth on top.
If Gu Yi were to lift the blanket too high, he might expose himself.
What was originally a perfectly normal thing had Ye Hao blushing all over his face.
Gu Yi felt as if she was about to take him by force.
"I’ll close my eyes, okay?"
Gu Yi understood his concerns, saying so as she closed her eyes.
She fumbled to lift the blanket.
After a long struggle, they finally completed the task.
She filled the nurse’s tube and after cleaning up the rest.
She washed her hands and poured some water for Ye Hao.
Adjusted his bed up a bit.
And prepared some warm water so Ye Hao could rinse his mouth and wipe his face.
"Drink some water first, I’ll go buy some food in a bit. Are you hungry?"
These days, Ye Hao had been on a liquid diet, and yesterday he only had a bit of congee.
Gu Yi figured he must be hungry by now.
Since he used to eat two big bowls of rice per meal, congee wouldn’t keep him full.
"It’s fine, I’m not that hungry. Do you want to sleep a bit more?"
Ye Hao took the cup and drank some water, seeing that it was still dark outside, he spoke to Gu Yi.
"No need, I’m already up, can’t sleep. Give me a moment, I’ll be back soon."
Gu Yi took Ye Hao’s cup, placed it on the table.
Quickly washed up and headed out.
