Reborn in the 80s: She Rewrites Life with Radiance
Chapter 192: Returning to the Troops
CHAPTER 192: CHAPTER 192: RETURNING TO THE TROOPS
After Ye’s mother left, the two of them continued with their own tasks.
Ye Hao couldn’t help but keep watching Gu Yi. He felt that after Gu Yi made a phone call today, she seemed a bit strange, as if she was in low spirits.
Even though she pretended to be the same as usual, Ye Hao could sense the difference.
"What’s wrong with you? Are you feeling down?"
Ye Hao suddenly asked Gu Yi.
After asking, he was taken aback himself, not knowing why he suddenly wanted to show her concern.
Gu Yi heard this and turned to look at Ye Hao. She was stunned for a moment, but soon reacted.
"No, I’m feeling good."
She said this and turned back to continue drawing her picture.
"Is it because you’re looking after me that you’re feeling bad?"
Ye Hao thought this might be the reason, and his mood became a bit gloomy too.
"No, it’s just that I miss home a bit."
Gu Yi glanced at him and decided to tell the truth.
When Ye Hao heard this, realizing it wasn’t because of him, his mood visibly improved.
"If you have time, go back and visit."
He said this and continued reading his book.
Gu Yi nodded slightly and didn’t say anything more.
That day, the doctor came to check and said that Ye Hao could be discharged and just needed to recover well at home.
Upon hearing this, Gu Yi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She was so anxious staying in the hospital every day.
The atmosphere wasn’t good, and Yang Lin kept hovering around.
Since she was the doctor, Gu Yi had no reason to ask her to leave.
With Ye Hao being discharged, there would be no more reason for her to come see him.
She thanked the doctor with a smile and quickly made a phone call home to tell Ye’s mother not to bring meals, saying they’d eat at home soon.
Gu Yi then called Li Yitian, asking him to come to the hospital to pick them up.
Ye Hao watched as Gu Yi, in a good mood, packed up their belongings.
His mood improved as well.
Even though he was holding a book, he hadn’t read a single word, constantly sneaking glances at Gu Yi.
"Ye Hao, stop watching. Pack up, we’re going home soon."
Gu Yi suddenly turned back to say this, startling Ye Hao.
"Okay, I’ll pack right away."
Ye Hao quickly moved forward to help.
Yang Lin came over to talk to Ye Hao, but he didn’t pay much attention to her.
The two of them quickly completed the discharge procedures.
Gu Yi was particularly glad that, knowing Ye Hao was going to be discharged, she had asked Ye’s mother to take things home bit by bit over the past few days.
Now, they only had one big bag and a small backpack.
She first took the big bag outside and came back soon after, carrying the backpack and supporting Ye Hao as they walked out.
"It’s okay, I can walk by myself."
Although the backpack didn’t look big, it was filled with heavy items.
Seeing her struggling with it, Ye Hao told her not to support him.
But he didn’t say it was because he felt concerned for Gu Yi.
Gu Yi paused for a moment, pretending not to hear him, and continued to support him as they walked outside.
For some reason, Ye Hao was particularly enjoying the current moment.
But his good mood didn’t last long.
When they reached the entrance, Li Yitian got out of the car and took Gu Yi’s backpack to place it in the car.
"Ye Hao, congratulations on being discharged. Get in the car, and I’ll take you home."
He said this while putting the backpack into the car.
Then he came over to help support Ye Hao.
"We can go by ourselves."
Ye Hao seemed somewhat uninterested in accepting the help.
"It’s not convenient to catch a ride from here. That’s why I called Yitian over. Let’s get in the car quickly; it’s blocking the road."
Gu Yi, worried Ye Hao might be stubborn, quickly explained.
"Yes, Ye Hao, it’s a small favor I’m happy to help with. Please get in the car."
Li Yitian also said with a smile.
Gu Yi was afraid he might say something more, so she held one of Ye Hao’s hands with her own hand.
With her other hand, she wrapped an arm around Ye Hao’s waist.
Ye Hao felt like he had been electrified for a moment, and after he reacted, he looked proudly at Li Yitian.
Li Yitian was a bit puzzled; he didn’t know what Ye Hao was trying to show off.
He didn’t think much of it, and quickly got them into the car and drove away to avoid blocking the road.
When they got to the community, Li Yitian helped carry the luggage up.
Gu Yi followed behind, supporting Ye Hao.
Ye’s mother, upon seeing Li Yitian, urged him to stay for lunch before leaving.
Li Yitian, who was used to being casual with Gu Yi, agreed to stay for lunch before he left since Ye’s mother insisted.
This left Ye Hao quite annoyed, feeling as if the two were being overly brazen.
"I want to go back to the base. I don’t want to stay here."
After Li Yitian left, Ye Hao said this.
"Isn’t it good here? We’re all here, the market is also close. Whatever you want to eat, we can easily buy. Besides, Qianqian and your dad need to open the shop, so I can’t really leave either."
Ye’s mother didn’t agree with him leaving.
"I don’t want to eat anything. I just want to go to the base. Gu Yi can accompany me."
Ye Hao didn’t want to stay here while Gu Yi and Li Yitian exchanged looks in front of him.
And from what he saw, Li Yitian was quite familiar with the place.
If Li Yitian kept coming by on a whim, wouldn’t he just die from frustration watching?
"Well?"
Ye’s mother didn’t know what to do, so she looked at Gu Yi for a solution.
"Sure, the base has bungalows. It’ll be easier for Ye Hao to go for walks. I’m on vacation now, so we can go to the base."
Gu Yi felt that staying at the base might be better for his recovery.
Plus, the base was a familiar environment for him, so maybe he’d remember everything in a few days.
That’s why Gu Yi agreed immediately.
Seeing Gu Yi so straightforward, Ye Hao glanced at her several more times.
He admitted that his mood, affected by Li Yitian earlier, had already improved.
"Alright then. If you’re there, I feel more at ease."
Seeing Gu Yi agree, Ye’s mother didn’t have any objections either.
She thought that if the two spent more time together, it might help Ye Hao stop being so confused.
Originally, Gu Yi thought about letting Li Yitian send them there.
But once Ye Hao found out, he firmly refused.
"We can take the bus over. If not, I’ll walk over, but I won’t have him give us a ride."
With no other options, Sun Ming used his dad’s car to take Ye Hao and Gu Yi to the base.
Ye’s mother also went along to help tidy up the house, and then went back to the city with Sun Ming.
Gu Yi looked at Ye Hao sitting on the stool and found it both amusing and exasperating.
This injury seemed to have made him behave like a child.
One moment he’s happy and smiling, the next he’s sulking and putting on a cold face.
Ye Honglian and the others knew that Gu Yi and Ye Hao had returned.
They brought groceries and other food items over.
This made Gu Yi feel a bit embarrassed.
"Once Ye Hao recovers, I’ll treat everyone to a meal."
She thought that once Ye Hao was better, she’d treat everyone to a meal to express their gratitude.
Gu Yi clearly noticed that Ye Hao’s mood had improved a lot now that he was back at the base.
Actually, something Ye Hao found frustrating was the sense that Gu Yi had some resistance towards him too.
At the hospital, they each slept in a separate bed, one on the hospital bed and one on the companion bed.
Back at the house near the school, Gu Yi slept with Ye Qian.
Now that they were back at the base, she was sleeping in another room again.
Without even asking him if they should sleep together, she just decided on her own.
But what Ye Hao didn’t know was that, typically, he avoided Gu Yi more often.
Gu Yi was also afraid that the closer she tried to get to him, the further apart they might end up.
