CHAPTER 199: CHAPTER 199: YOU’RE IN FOR A TREAT
He Jinxuan looked at those strawberries and bayberries that had already gone bad and felt regretful, but he didn’t really mind.
He tossed the foam box directly into the garbage pit and carried the other items back.
By the time the convoy reached the Mechanical Factory, it was already late; most families were having dinner, and he headed directly to the small courtyard where Yu Xinyan lived, carrying the items.
Before he even reached the door, he heard his little nephew Ye Siyan’s voice: "Sister, this is really delicious, it’s a pity Uncle can’t taste it."
Yu Xinyan looked at him with a smile: "I really don’t know if you’re concerned about your uncle or secretly pleased that he’s not around to compete with you."
Ye Siyan laughed: "Uncle is so pitiful."
Ye Silai raised a hand and patted his back: "Delicious food can’t even stop your mouth."
After chiding his brother, he looked at Yu Xinyan: "Sister, do you know when Uncle will be back?"
Yu Xinyan smiled and patted his head: "Miss Uncle?"
Ye Silai nodded honestly: "Mm."
Ever since Mom’s accident, they finally settled down with Uncle; Uncle not only didn’t mind them being there but also treated them well. Since living with Uncle, they hadn’t been apart for so long.
Yu Xinyan placed a fried cake into his bowl: "He should be back soon."
No sooner had Yu Xinyan finished speaking than she heard noises from outside. Just as she stood up, Ye Siyan excitedly shouted: "Uncle."
Ye Silai was the first to stand up and run over: "Uncle, you’re back."
He Jinxuan, holding a heap of things, responded with a smile: "Back, have you been good these past few days?"
Ye Silai reached out: "Uncle, let me help you with that."
Ye Siyan jumped and replied: "We’ve been very good, if you don’t believe me, ask Sister."
As he spoke, he looked over at Yu Xinyan, waiting for her to confirm it.
He Jinxuan looked up at Yu Xinyan; the two exchanged glances, causing his heart to skip a beat. During these days away, what he thought of most was not his two nephews but this young lady slowly entering his heart.
Yu Xinyan casually greeted: "Brother He, you’re back?"
He Jinxuan nodded to her.
Yu Xinyan looked at him with a smile: "You haven’t eaten yet, right? We just started."
As she spoke, she went under the eaves to fetch an enamel basin: "Put down the things first; I’ll fetch water, you wash your hands, and then sit and eat."
He Jinxuan, hearing her words, quickly placed the items he was holding onto the stone platform by the stove shed: "I can do it myself."
Yu Xinyan waved her hand with a smile: "It’s fine, it’ll be quick."
While Yu Xinyan fetched water, He Jinxuan had already put down the things.
Seeing that Uncle’s hands were free, Ye Siyan reached out: "Uncle, hold me."
He Jinxuan, who had become accustomed to the two children, missed them quite a bit during the days outside. Not wanting to show favoritism, he squatted down and picked both nephews up: "Did you miss Uncle?"
Ye Siyan wrapped his arms around He Jinxuan’s neck and pressed his face against the side of He Jinxuan’s neck: "Yes, a lot."
Unlike his more outgoing brother, Ye Silai’s personality was different, but from the smile on his face, it wasn’t hard to tell the little guy was very happy.
Yu Xinyan came out with water and saw the uncle and nephews with their heads together; Ye Siyan was even laughing out loud, so she called over: "Get down quickly and wash your hands; the fried cakes won’t taste good if they cool."
Ye Siyan remembered and struggled to get down: "Uncle, hurry up and wash your hands. Sister made fried cakes; they are delicious, you’re in for a treat."
Yu Xinyan teased with a smile: "Our little Siyan is getting better at talking."
