Chapter 453: So Happy
CHAPTER 453: CHAPTER 453: SO HAPPY
"Why are you here?"
Helping Tian Dan move the pickled vegetables to Zhao Jingmiao’s dorm across the street, placing them beside a cabinet visible as soon as you enter, Zhao Jingmiao asked Gu Lingling.
"Didn’t I just run into Zhu Jing? Talking led us here, and I was just about to ask if you’re going home this weekend. We can go together," Gu Lingling said.
She got off work early, went to Yang Yunhai’s place and cleaned up, still finding no news of him, and left disappointed once again.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Zhu Jing and followed her to find Zhao Jingmiao, witnessing this scene.
"I’m going home, let’s go together," Zhao Jingmiao said with a smile.
Tian Dan was a bit uneasy, "Didn’t you all smell the pickled vegetables?"
Seeing them talking without any sign of distaste, Tian Dan cautiously asked, fearing that they might dislike them.
"Can I taste your pickled vegetables?" Gu Lingling had been curious all along.
Supposedly, the pickled vegetables should not have such a strong smell since they were in jars, but she had indeed smelled the distinct aroma of Tian Dan’s family’s pickles earlier.
To be honest, it’s not very pleasant smelling.
"Of course... of course you can." Tian Dan excitedly turned around to find her bowls and chopsticks.
She had been at the factory for quite some time now, yet it was the first time someone actively requested to try her pickles. Not to boast, but although the smell was strong, they were truly delicious.
"This is so good," Zhu Jing exclaimed, surprised.
She tried it out of courtesy since Zhao Jingmiao and Gu Lingling had tried it, but it was far better than she had expected.
No wonder Tian Dan always enjoyed pickles with wo wo tou and hot water so much; she had thought it was just her usual meal.
Turns out, the pickles really were delicious.
Even though Zhu Jing had already eaten, if there were such a dish of pickles, she felt she could eat another bun.
"Delicious." Gu Lingling was astonished from the first bite.
She had tasted this flavor before, no, more accurately, she had in a previous life at the Overseas Chinese Restaurant, although the texture wasn’t as crispy as Tian Dan’s pickles.
But the taste was similar.
It was from the experiences Zhou Chengshan at the Overseas Chinese Hotel brought her.
Once, when Gu Lingling was scolded and in a bad mood, Zhou Chengshan invited her to the office, knew she hadn’t eaten, and it was past mealtime, so he gave her a dish of pickles and two buns to stave off hunger.
If not for Tian Dan’s pickles, Gu Lingling thought, the pickles she had in her past life would have been the best she’d ever tasted.
Unexpectedly, Tian Dan’s skills were even better than Zhou Chengshan’s.
Just not sure if there’s any relation between the two.
"Can I learn to make those pickles from you?" Gu Lingling asked, "It’s alright if you can’t."
"Of course you can," Tian Dan beamed with pride, "Our family’s pickles are the best in our village."
"They are very tasty." Gu Lingling took another bite, "Then teach me another day."
"I want to learn too," Zhao Jingmiao said.
Then, after some thought, Zhu Jing also chimed in to join them.
"I’m so happy you don’t mind," Tian Dan said tearfully, grabbing her clothes, "I’ll definitely teach all of you."
In her excitement, her hometown dialect slipped out.
But no one looked down on her like Liu Miao would have, instead, they comforted her.
Meanwhile, Liu Miao, leaving the dormitory building, cursed as she walked.
"Oh, who made you mad now?"
Zhou Ting’s voice.
