CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104: WITHOUT THE YOUNG MASTER’S PERMISSION, YOU CAN’T LEAVE

Amelia Wright withdrew her hand from the door handle: "I heard arguing in the room."

Joyce looked at Amelia Wright warily, saying: "Young Master Shaw and Young Master Shaw have some personality conflicts, but this is not something Miss Wright can deal with right now."

Listening to Joyce’s titles and noticing his guarded look, Amelia Wright felt a sense of self-mockery in her heart.

Once, Joyce was kind to her, and she thought she really had a relative.

In fact, Joyce only cared about Godfery Shaw; he never really considered her family.

She said coldly: "I understand, it’s indeed not something I should be dealing with. Let Godfery Shaw know that I’m leaving."

"Miss Wright, please wait. Without Young Master Shaw’s agreement, you cannot leave Imperial Garden."

"Does he plan to illegally detain me too?"

"Please forgive us, Miss Wright."

Amelia Wright was slightly annoyed, knowing that in Imperial Garden, Godfery Shaw’s orders were paramount.

It was already dark by then.

She went downstairs and first called Hailey Smith from the hall.

"Hailey Smith, how is Emily Allen? How’s he feeling today?"

Hailey Smith’s voice sounded a bit sluggish: "Emily is fine, I’m keeping an eye on him. When will the master return?"

Amelia Wright glanced upstairs, where there was no movement: "I’m not sure when I’ll be back, just make sure Emily falls asleep. Before I return, don’t let anyone take him away. Did you understand?"

"Understood."

"Let Emily answer the phone."

On the other side, Hailey Smith limped his way to the kitchen and handed the phone to Emily Allen: "It’s the master’s call."

Emily quickly got off the small stool, wiped the water off his hands, took the phone, and dutifully said: "Aunt."

Hearing his voice, Amelia Wright’s gaze softened considerably: "Were you scared today, Emily?"

"No, I knew Aunt would come for me."

"That’s right, if you’re not willing, no one can take you away. How did you end up meeting Godfery Shaw today?"

Emily was silent for a few seconds before truthfully saying: "I went to find Uncle to help Aunt."

"Uncle?"

"He told me to call him that. Isn’t he Uncle?"

Amelia Wright felt a headache coming on.

It seemed that after Godfery Shaw learned that Emily wasn’t her illegitimate child, he wasn’t planning on divorcing her.

What Amelia Wright didn’t know was that Godfery Shaw’s change wasn’t related to any illegitimate child, but was entirely about her safety.

Suppressing her irritation, Amelia Wright gently said: "In the future, he won’t be. I may return a bit late today. Don’t wait up for me, Emily. Children need to ensure enough sleep, or they won’t grow tall."

"Alright, goodbye Aunt."

Amelia Wright hung up the phone and headed towards the Imperial Garden’s entrance.

Two bodyguards suddenly appeared at the entrance, blocking Amelia Wright.

"Move aside."

The bodyguards at the door remained silent and didn’t budge.

Amelia Wright noticed Basil Smith not far away; her gaze shifted, and Basil quickly averted his eyes, pretending he hadn’t seen her.

Seeing this, Amelia Wright knew that as Joyce had said, unless she forced her way out, she couldn’t leave without Godfery Shaw’s word.

Amelia Wright suddenly felt nauseous.

Afraid that Basil would notice anything abnormal, Amelia Wright restrained her urge to gag and turned towards the kitchen.

So much had happened today; she was exhausted and her stomach felt uncomfortable.

Thinking about the child in her belly, Amelia Wright decided to eat something.

She made herself a bowl of noodles.

While eating, she saw someone.

Sometimes, foes are bound to meet; Evelyn Dawson was walking over from afar.

Evelyn wore a plaid skirt, her hair tied up in a high ponytail, her face devoid of the scars from a fall—it was either completely healed or covered with makeup—looking as youthful as the first time Amelia Wright saw her.

Seeing Amelia Wright, Evelyn jogged over, seemingly having completely forgotten the unpleasant encounter at the racetrack.

She stared with her big eyes, her face full of concern: "Miss Wright, what happened to your face? My God, did Young Master Shaw ruin your face because of me?"

Evelyn was let out; the explanation Basil Smith provided was that her face injury couldn’t be exposed to sunlight, so she was grounded for better healing.

Now that the wound was mostly healed, a bit of foundation could cover it up enough for her to go out.

But Evelyn always felt something was off; Young Master Shaw’s attitude was off.

Clearly, in front of outsiders, Young Master Shaw was willing to ruin Amelia Wright’s face for her.

But this time, the grounding felt like she was punished for scheming against Amelia Wright.

Unexpectedly, she met Amelia Wright again in Imperial Garden today, and to her surprise, Amelia Wright had a new scar on her face, looking more serious than the one she intentionally caused.

Evelyn’s first thought was that Young Master Shaw had injured her.

Amelia Wright glanced at Evelyn.

If Evelyn were truly a clean person, Amelia Wright would even wish happiness for Godfery Shaw despite feeling somewhat upset.

But this Evelyn was just better at pretending.

She wasn’t worthy to stand next to Godfery Shaw, and neither was Evelyn.

Amelia Wright ate her noodles, not even looking at Evelyn, asking: "What, are you happy that Godfery Shaw ruined my face?"

Evelyn hadn’t expected Amelia Wright to be so blunt; her barely concealed schadenfreude stiffened, and she said with grievance: "Miss Wright, I didn’t mean that. I’m just feeling sorry for you."

On the surface, Evelyn appeared aggrieved, but inside, she was dissatisfied and envious. After all, Amelia Wright was just Young Master Shaw’s castoff, how dare she boldly call Young Master Shaw by name.

Amelia Wright looked up at Evelyn and laughed: "Sorry to disappoint you, but it wasn’t Godfery Shaw who hurt me; he just brought me back and applied medicine."

Young Master Shaw applied medicine?

How could that be?

This woman was definitely lying.

At this moment, Joyce came out of Godfery Shaw’s room, breaking the tense atmosphere between the two women.

Joyce, looking displeased, said: "Miss Wright, Young Master Shaw wants you to go over."

Amelia Wright put down her chopsticks, raised her eyebrows at Evelyn: "Godfery Shaw wants to see me. Do you want to come too?"

Evelyn finally faltered: "You..."

Amelia Wright directly went upstairs.

Evelyn impulsively wanted to follow, but remembering Godfery Shaw’s warning last time, she pulled back her foot after stepping forward.

Amelia Wright had already noticed that this Evelyn seemed to be living on the first floor, not allowed onto the second.

It seemed indeed that way.

Those Young Master Shaw truly trusted could be on the second floor of Imperial Garden.

It appeared the relationship between Evelyn and Godfery Shaw wasn’t as good as it seemed.

Amelia Wright went back upstairs, seeing Godfery Shaw’s room door was open.

She knocked twice and entered, looking around, only seeing Godfery Shaw calmly sitting on the sofa without Young Master Shaw in sight.

Amelia Wright bluntly said: "If you have nothing, I’m leaving."

Godfery Shaw on the sofa, his expression unclear: "You really want to leave."

Amelia Wright’s expression was indifferent: "Yes, I don’t want to stay a moment longer in Imperial Garden. We must divorce quickly; you’re delaying me from remarrying."

Remarry!

Godfery Shaw abruptly looked up at Amelia Wright: "Who are you going to marry? Is it Marsh Smith?"

Amelia Wright was about to say something even more heartless.

Then the man, with grievance, accused: "Why don’t you want me!"

Amelia Wright was stunned.

Only then did she notice the strong smell of alcohol in the room.

Godfery Shaw was—drunk?
