CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 106: DISCUSSING EMILY ALLEN’S FUTURE

Godfery Shaw escorted Amelia Wright back to the old district.

Without receiving the slightest hint of being asked to stay, Godfery Shaw left gloomily.

Edward Allen and Hailey Smith were sitting at the entrance.

Seeing Amelia Wright appear, the two, looking as if they hadn’t slept all night, stood up simultaneously.

Hailey Smith took a couple of steps forward: "Master, you’re back. I’ve been watching over, Emily is fine."

Amelia Wright thought of Godfery Shaw’s reaction after getting drunk and shot Hailey Smith a cold glance.

Hailey Smith thought she failed to protect the Young Madam and that she was angry, so she didn’t dare to look directly at Amelia Wright, muttering to herself: "I’ll go rest next door, so tired..."

After Hailey Smith left, Amelia Wright looked at Edward Allen: "Mr. Allen, come in and let’s talk."

Edward Allen hung his head and followed Amelia Wright inside.

This was his second visit; the first time, he was so consumed with anger he didn’t notice the surroundings.

Amelia Wright and Emily were living in such a poor place, surprisingly.

Emily, who was inside, just finished making breakfast. Seeing Amelia Wright return, her eyes lit up: "Auntie, you’re back."

After calling out, Emily noticed the man behind her aunt and her expression instantly turned sullen.

Edward Allen looked apologetic, wondering how he could have misunderstood Amelia Wright as Emily’s biological mother.

Emily called her aunt.

Aunt.

If his sister were still alive, she might look much like Amelia Wright.

Edward Allen, being a fundamentally upright person, even to the point of rigidity, felt so guilty knowing he had wronged Amelia Wright and even repaid kindness with enmity, causing her face to be ruined, that he couldn’t bear to look her in the eye.

He only wished to atone.

Amelia Wright took out an extra set of bowls and chopsticks: "Mr. Allen, you haven’t eaten yet, right? Join us for breakfast."

Edward Allen silently accepted the utensils.

The three of them ate breakfast quietly, and Amelia Wright’s gaze gradually softened.

Never in her life had she imagined she could have a peaceful meal with her family.

For her, it was a luxury.

Too afraid to acknowledge, she was already very content with this.

Amelia Wright asked as calmly as possible: "Mr. Allen, regarding Emily’s future, I think we need to discuss it."

Edward Allen immediately put down his utensils, looked at Amelia Wright, then at Emily: "My personal thought is to bring Emily back to the Allen family. I wasn’t aware of this child’s birth before, but now that I know, I ought to fulfill my fatherly responsibilities."

Amelia Wright felt distressed. Her brother was still the same as in her previous life, a genuinely good person.

No matter how Emily came into this world, her brother still wanted to bring her back for proper upbringing.

In her previous life, because of her interference, her brother was forced to keep Alma Cooper, leading to the subsequent tragedy.

Amelia Wright suppressed her emotions, her voice lowered slightly: "Mr. Allen... I understand your thoughts, and I don’t object to Emily going back with you to the Allen family. After all, for Emily, following you would mean a better life, but..."

Edward Allen listened attentively.

Emily bit her lip without speaking, her dark eyes just staring at Amelia Wright.

Little Emily’s small body was evidently tense.

Amelia Wright patted Emily’s back and continued: "However, I hope that whatever decision is made, it’s based on Emily’s willingness, and no one should force him."

Emily immediately said: "I want to stay with Auntie."

Edward Allen smiled bitterly: "Child, don’t be nervous, it was my mistake to forcibly take you away before. If you don’t want to go back with me to the Allen family, I won’t insist. But if possible, can you come with me to Capital City? My parents want to see you, it won’t take more than a few days, will you be willing?"

Emily looked towards Amelia Wright, seeking her opinion.

Hearing about the parents, Amelia Wright’s heart ached, and even her fingertips trembled slightly.

Seeing her silence.

Edward Allen hurriedly added: "If you’re worried, you can come along. Rest assured, I won’t force Emily."

Amelia Wright refused without a second thought: "I won’t go to the Allen family, but I agree to Emily going there once."

She couldn’t possibly go to the Allen family in this lifetime.

Unworthy, and without the face to go to the Allen family.

Amelia Wright asked Emily: "Emily, are you willing to go once? Don’t worry, Auntie won’t abandon you. Remember what Auntie once told you?"

Emily nodded: "I remember."

Never abandon him, ever, even until death.

Amelia Wright knew Emily didn’t want to interact with the Allen family, but she selfishly hoped Emily would have more contact because she wasn’t sure how long she could live. If she still died five years later, Emily wouldn’t be left uncared for.

Her ’forever’ had a time limit, with death as its deadline.

Emily saw through his aunt’s intention and didn’t want to make her feel uneasy, so he nodded with a serious look towards Edward Allen: "Okay, I’ll go with you once."

Edward Allen breathed a sigh of relief, looking at Amelia Wright with gratitude and guilt: "Amelia, your face... I will find the best doctors to treat it."

"No need, this injury isn’t your fault, I don’t care about it."

Edward Allen hesitated to speak; what girl wouldn’t care about her appearance, especially having been so beautiful?

He secretly decided that after returning to Capital City, he would find the best doctors.

After eating breakfast together, Edward Allen offered to take Emily to kindergarten.

Emily thought, Auntie’s face was injured, and Uncle Hailey was limping too.

Surely Auntie wouldn’t agree to him going to school by himself, so he agreed.

Amelia Wright watched as the identical-looking big and small figures walked out of the room, her expression growing increasingly tender.

This life, everything was different.

Her parents wouldn’t come to Riverwood City, her brother would have a wonderful life, and Emily would grow up healthy.

Everyone would be well.

Except for her.

...

Edward Allen took Emily to kindergarten.

Along the way, Emily was as silent as a mute; no matter what Edward Allen said, he didn’t respond.

Completely unlike how he was obedient and well-behaved in front of Amelia Wright.

Edward Allen didn’t mind, continued speaking to himself: "Emily, I will release a piece of news, revealing your identity."

Emily looked towards Edward Allen cautiously.

Edward Allen explained: "Don’t worry, I’m not trying to dispute your guardianship. Instead, in Riverwood City, there are rumors claiming you’re Amelia Wright’s illegitimate child. She doesn’t want you to be hurt and has been handling the rumors gently, enduring lots of insults and grievances. We can’t let the rumors continue to hurt her, do you understand?"

"Okay."

Edward Allen escorted Emily to kindergarten.

Just as they arrived at the kindergarten gate.

Some children ran towards Emily.

"Emily, you’re here, I brought you some candy today."

"Emily, the question you taught me yesterday was amazing, even my brother didn’t know it."

"Emily, today I’ll help you wipe the desk."

Edward Allen was surprised; Emily, who seemed so solitary, was so popular?

Emily calmly said: "Auntie worries I’ll be isolated, I don’t want to make her worry."

Edward Allen instantly understood, he wouldn’t be able to take this child away in the future either.

This child was far too wise and rational, rational to the point of not seeming like a child.

To the people of the world, he didn’t care, except for the one who pulled him out of the fire, Amelia Wright.
