Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes
Chapter 138: Amelia, Are You Lying to Me Again
CHAPTER 138: CHAPTER 138: AMELIA, ARE YOU LYING TO ME AGAIN
On the other side, Elijah went upstairs.
After going upstairs, he followed the instructions Amelia had given him earlier to find the room.
The first two rooms were empty, the last room had an electronic lock and wouldn’t open.
Elijah guessed that this must be the room.
He raised his hand and knocked on the door.
Inside the room, Godfery and Amelia both looked towards the entrance.
Godfery was in a state of uncontrollable agitation, thinking nothing of it, assuming that it was Basil bringing lunch.
Amelia, however, sensed something was wrong.
In the days she had been confined to the room, the door had not been knocked on once.
Even for three meals a day, Godfery went out himself to get them.
Who was here? Was it someone from the Imperial Garden?
If it was one of Godfery’s confidants, what were the chances she’d be able to escape if she cried for help?
Amelia thought of many things in a single moment, but had to admit, her chances of leaving were slim.
The time for the final round of the national painting exhibition was today, she wondered if she’d still make it.
Amelia hoped the person knocking would be her chance to leave.
Godfery got up to open the door.
As the door opened, Godfery’s expression darkened, and a surge of aggression arose in him.
"Elijah!"
This person dared to come back, after getting a pass on Jade Peak Mountain last time, and yet he dared to return to the Imperial Garden.
Elijah, however, looked past Godfery and saw Amelia in the room.
Amelia was leaning against the headboard, and the bed and floor were covered in a messy heap of paintings and calligraphy.
Amelia clearly saw him too, hope glimmering in her eyes, the opportunity to leave had truly arrived.
Godfery had already started attacking Elijah.
Elijah also immediately counterattacked.
The door was pushed open during the fight, the two of them battling into the room, with thudding sounds echoing.
Downstairs, Basil heard the noise, wanting to get up and go upstairs to help.
Emma tapped Basil on the shoulder with a baseball bat, "If you make a move, I’ll knock you out with one swing."
Basil couldn’t fight back against Emma, only glaring at her angrily.
Emma, however, wasn’t looking at Basil. The reason she hadn’t gone upstairs wasn’t because of him, but because she was paying attention to movements outside.
Outside, Hailey seemed unable to hold on for much longer.
Upstairs also seemed to have erupted into a fight.
Emma had personally experienced Godfery’s skills, knowing ordinary people were no match for him.
If it continued like this, it wouldn’t be in their favor.
Emma made a decisive decision, striking Basil and the cook twice with her bat.
Basil’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Emma said unceremoniously, "It’s better to knock out people who only make things worse."
Basil didn’t have time to react before he was knocked out, just like he hadn’t expected Emma to hit him, nor did he expect Emma to knock him out so casually.
It was utterly humiliating for Basil.
After knocking them out, Emma quickly ran upstairs, heading towards the sounds of the fight.
Through the open door, she saw the two of them equally matched in battle.
Elijah and Godfery seemed locked in a stalemate.
Emma glanced at Amelia on the bed and, without a word, joined the fight.
Godfery was injured, and having had a high fever for several days, although he could still hold his own against Elijah, when Emma joined in, the stalemate was broken.
In a two-to-one situation, Godfery gradually fell behind.
Elijah and Emma were both skilled fighters, unmatched by ordinary people.
The two of them teamed up and swiftly subdued Godfery, with Elijah quickly tying Godfery’s hands using the curtain ropes.
Emma had already run over to Amelia.
Seeing Amelia lying on the bed pale and frail, Emma instinctively softened her voice, "Amelia, are you alright?"
Amelia shook her head, "I’m fine. Has the national painting exhibition competition begun?"
Emma gestured for her to come over, "It hasn’t started yet, your competition begins at two in the afternoon, there’s still time. Come on down, we’ll take you away."
Amelia breathed a sigh of relief, then said, "I can’t feel my legs, I can’t walk."
Emma’s eyes widened in shock, "What... what did you say?"
Amelia refused to say more; Emma lifted the blanket, looking at Amelia’s legs.
The long, fair legs lay there on the bed, the skin so pale that Emma noticed the small needle marks on Amelia’s knees.
Amelia’s skin was fair and delicate; even slight movement left marks.
Looking at the needle marks on her knees, Emma had a bad feeling.
She looked at Godfery in disbelief, questioning sharply, "Godfery! Did you inject something into Amelia, making her unable to walk?"
Godfery seemed like a trapped beast, constantly struggling, eyes reddened.
He suppressed his voice, "Get lost, don’t touch Amelia, she cannot leave."
Hearing this, Emma didn’t need to ask; she understood.
Fuming, Emma gripped the baseball bat, ready to take a swing at Godfery, "You’re fucking insane."
Seeing this, Amelia quickly shouted, "Emma, don’t hurt him!"
No one expected Amelia to stop them.
Emma, always obedient to Amelia, stopped mid-swing and looked back at Amelia, asking, "After what he’s done to you, you’re still defending him? Are you crazy?"
Amelia just shook her head.
Out of rage, Emma threw the bat down, picked up Amelia, and prepared to leave.
As they passed Godfery, Amelia suddenly said, "Emma, let me speak to him."
Though reluctant, Emma brought Amelia over to Godfery.
Amelia looked at the struggling Godfery, she leaned close and whispered in his ear, "Don’t worry, I’ll be back."
The three people in the room were all taken aback.
Amelia’s condition clearly showed she had been imprisoned and abused, her legs were ruined.
Yet she seemed not to hate, but instead, she was soothing Godfery, why was this?
Godfery stopped struggling in an instant, his reddened eyes looked at Amelia, his voice strained, "Amelia, are you deceiving me again?"
Amelia didn’t know when she’d ever deceived him.
She shook her head, "I’m not lying to you."
After speaking, Emma and Elijah took her, quickly running out of the room and down the stairs.
Once downstairs, they realized things weren’t good.
The knocked-out Basil woke up and called the people outside.
Hailey and several of the Imperial Garden’s confidants were already in a fight.
Because of Amelia’s legs, seeing Basil made Emma even more agitated, she practically wanted to kill that guy.
She shoved Amelia into Elijah’s arms and charged into the crowd, shouting, "Elijah, get her to the venue to compete, I’ll help Hailey hold them off, time’s running out."
Before Elijah could react, his arms were suddenly filled with Amelia.
She was dressed in a white nightgown, looking like a cloud, so light and effortlessly falling into his embrace, stirring the strings of his already frenetic heart.
Elijah barely managed to control his wildly beating heart, holding Amelia as he ran outside.
Their car was parked near the Imperial Garden, and Elijah quickly got in.
Amelia, weak-limbed, was buckled into the passenger seat by Elijah.
He was so close, he instinctively held his breath.
As if even his breath falling on Amelia would be a violation.
Before the people behind caught up.
Elijah floored the accelerator, taking them away.
