Reborn on Wedding Night: Flirting the Cold Bigshot into Blushes
Chapter 353: Awakened by the Awful Taste Even in a Coma
CHAPTER 353: CHAPTER 353: AWAKENED BY THE AWFUL TASTE EVEN IN A COMA
They need a place sheltered from the wind and need to start a fire.
Godfery Shaw led Nancy Allen deeper inside, arriving behind a huge rock, and stopped there.
The rock blocked most of the mountain wind, and Godfery Shaw placed Nancy Allen on a cleared patch of ground.
He picked up some twigs and dry grass and began starting a fire using the method of drilling wood.
This scene reminded him of his childhood, when he promised to become the Shaw family’s blade, and the Shaw family said they wanted to hone him, thus throwing him into more desolate places to survive. Now, Godfery Shaw skillfully started the fire, the dry grass ignited, and he even felt somewhat grateful for those malicious trainings back then.
The bright flame burned, bringing hope and dispelling the panic in one’s heart.
Godfery Shaw increased the fire a bit, disregarding taboos. He took off Nancy Allen’s dress to dry it by the fire and then held Nancy Allen in his arms, wrapping her in his own tattered shirt, snuggling closer to the fire, holding her tightly.
The tattered shirt couldn’t cover her snow-white, jade-like body, beautiful as Eve in the myth enticing Adam, but Godfery Shaw now felt no evil thoughts, only heartache.
During this drift in the river, although he had tried his best to protect Nancy Allen, her too-delicate skin was covered with quite a few bruises and abrasions, striking against the overly pale skin.
Godfery Shaw muttered to himself: "It’s okay, it will be okay soon."
After some time.
By the fire, the chill in Godfery Shaw’s body dissipated, and his frozen body regained condition.
But Nancy Allen, unconscious, leaned against Godfery Shaw, her body growing hotter, yet she murmured unconsciously: "Cold... so cold..."
Godfery Shaw was a bit flustered, knowing nothing about medicine, only that when someone runs a fever, during the temperature rise, they need to absorb heat, and they feel cold.
Nancy Allen saying cold meant her temperature would still rise.
Nancy Allen’s dress was not thick and almost dried. Godfery Shaw retrieved the dress and put it on Nancy Allen; his half-dry shirt also heated, was wrapped around Nancy Allen.
After doing this, Godfery Shaw kept rubbing Nancy Allen’s hands and feet.
Until her icy hands and feet gained warmth, Nancy Allen stopped saying cold.
But as her body grew hotter, Nancy Allen’s pale little face became flush under the glow of the fire.
She stopped saying cold, as if feeling hot, discomforted, and called out: "Godfery Shaw."
Godfery Shaw thought Nancy Allen was waking up, and hurriedly asked: "Nancy, how are you? Are you okay?"
However, Nancy Allen kept her eyes closed, and discomfortingly murmured, like a sick kitten, subconsciously calling out the closest person.
Her body temperature reached a certain height, and Nancy Allen began to feel hot, struggling to push away the shirt Godfery Shaw covered her with, but reluctant to push away the warmer Godfery Shaw.
Godfery Shaw held Nancy Allen and backed away, distancing from the fire a bit to let her dissipate heat better.
Her body needed many medicines daily, and should be taking now. Yet now a high fever occurred, and Godfery Shaw felt very anxious.
Can only hope Basil Smith and others can find them quickly.
Time gradually passed.
The longer Godfery Shaw waited, the more uneasy he felt.
It had been about three hours. Given the drifting distance they had followed the current, if pinpointed immediately, they should have been found by now.
But there was still no one coming, possibly indicating a bad situation.
Godfery Shaw habitually considered the worst possibilities. This deserted island might have no signal, or perhaps some special signal tower disrupted the positioning.
No matter which speculation, it darkened Godfery Shaw’s face because this was fatal for Nancy.
Can’t keep sitting and waiting like this.
Nancy needs water, food, and medicine.
Suddenly Godfery Shaw’s gaze turned fierce and wicked, and he cursed: "Brother, you are truly useless. You can’t protect her, then let me do it. Let me protect Nancy, brother, disappear, would you?"
Godfery Shaw was severely injured, and Julius Shaw’s personality emerged, more violent than usual.
Godfery Shaw suppressed such violence and said in a deep voice: "Shut up, go back. She needs me."
Julius Shaw’s tone was savage as if wanting to tear people apart: "You are talking nonsense! I am born for her; she will ultimately choose me! It can only be me."
"At least now, she is calling out for Godfery Shaw, so roll back quietly."
Julius Shaw’s persona grew quiet.
Nancy’s needs determined their existence.
Godfery Shaw took several deep breaths, calming his emotions stirred up by Julius Shaw’s violence.
He placed a thick branch into the fire, which would burn for a long time.
Then he got up, holding Nancy Allen, intending to look around.
This kind of unknown exploration shouldn’t have included Nancy Allen, yet Godfery Shaw couldn’t leave Nancy alone in this unfamiliar place.
Godfery Shaw examined his surroundings, discovering it was a deserted island with no nearby signal towers.
It likely wasn’t interference but rather a direct signal interruption.
No matter how accurate his body’s positioning chip was, even once the signal was interrupted, locating him would require a very close distance.
His people couldn’t find him directly, only able to search downstream along the river, checking every possible location, which would take much more time, not just three hours, possibly two or three days.
If it were only Godfery Shaw surviving alone on the deserted island for a few days, he wouldn’t feel nervous at all.
Years ago, as a minor, he had nothing and was thrown by the Shaw family into a desolate forest for five days, during which he learned wilderness survival.
Yet now, Godfery Shaw gazed at Nancy Allen in his arms, his expression serious.
Without a word, he began searching, looking for any familiar herbs.
After a round of searching, he found some Houttuynia cordata.
Houttuynia cordata had effects of clearing heat and detoxifying; who knows if it would work for Nancy’s current situation, yet Godfery Shaw still picked some.
He also found some edible wild fruits, picking a few and eating one himself.
The deserted island wasn’t large, with no sightings of wild animals, only startling a few flying birds. Perhaps during high tide, the river would submerge this small island, making it unsuitable for animal habitation.
Lastly, Godfery Shaw discovered fish in a shallow puddle on the island.
The puddle was clear to the bottom, likely always filled with rainwater, forming a small puddle under this special terrain where birds had dropped fish eggs here, allowing fish in this puddle.
He first laid down Nancy Allen; the puddle’s deepest part only reached his knees, and he easily caught a fish, tying it with grass, and embraced Nancy Allen to head back.
On the way back, the fire was still burning, and Godfery Shaw added some dry wood.
He spread some dry grass flat on the ground, letting Nancy Allen lie on the relatively soft dry grass.
The fish weren’t processed and were directly roasted on the fire, waiting until cooked to process.
While Nancy was unconscious, Godfery Shaw crushed the cleaned Houttuynia cordata, intending to feed Nancy the juice.
In the end, the unconscious Nancy furrowed her brow tightly, refusing to swallow.
The taste’s stimulation actually woke Nancy, who said with a nasal voice, like she was pouting: "It’s gross."
Some people treated Houttuynia cordata like a vegetable and liked that taste.
Yet Nancy, even in a coma, woke from its unpleasantness.
Seeing her awake, Godfery Shaw coaxed tenderly: "Nancy, we are stranded on a deserted island now. You have a fever, and there is no medicine; this is an herb for clearing heat and detoxifying. Be good, eat it."
Nancy said extremely weakly: "Medicine, I have it."
Godfery Shaw was stunned.
