Reborn: The Tyrant's Obsession
Chapter 200: Someone from the auction house?
CHAPTER 200: SOMEONE FROM THE AUCTION HOUSE?
Even Ruby glanced at Ella with an incomprehensible gaze. She had never expected Ella to stand up for her against Esther.
In fact, there were a few things she had never brought up in front of Ella. Back in time, if not for Esther, then the misunderstandings between them would have never taken place.
Ruby knew it for a fact that Ella’s feelings for Esther would never be shaken by some of her accusations.
But looking at Ella today, Ruby was shocked even though her face did not betray much of an emotion.
Esther glanced at Ella who was standing there unflinching. Slowly, she turned to Ruby, "S-Sorry... I am sorry..."
Ruby looked at the girl nonchalantly.
"You were quite loud while insulting her just now. Try again."
Ella’s smiling voice ran on Esther’s heart like a piece of burning iron, corroding her flesh. After a moment, she opened her mouth, "I am sorry."
"That’s enough..." Ruby grabbed Ella’s hand just when the girl moved again.
Ruby had no soft spot for Esther who she knew wasn’t that sincere to Ella. But she knew that Ella cherished her little sister.
’Even if Ella is doing it for me, she would feel terrible for pushing Esther so far...’ Ruby thought.
And her thoughts were not far-fetched. Ella would have not even thought of raising her voice at Esther in her previous life, let alone scold her so much.
But Ruby did not know that to Ella, a lifetime had passed and this time, she was no longer deluded by the thoughts of sisterhood.
"Good girl. In the future, remember to respect your sister’s friends like this," Ella patted Esther’s shoulders.
Esther’s lips twitched. She could feel the burning stares of the servants on her. But in the end, she looked at Ella with a soft smile, "Yes, I was being insensitive about it... It’s good that you are here to teach me."
Esther stepped forward and hugged Ella, "Sis, let’s have some snacks together. I have brought a lot of things for you..."
Esther picked up the bags from the floor and walked off to the dining table. In a few minutes, she decorated the entire dining table with various delicacies, most of them being desserts.
"Sis, come over..." Esther urged Ella.
As Ella strode towards the dining table, Esther’s eyes lit up, "Here... Try this..." She passed a donut to Ella’s hand.
Ella took the donut from her hand and examined it closely, "You still remember my favorites..."
Esther held her breath, watching Ella move the donut to her mouth.
But at the last moment, Ella put it down on the plate.
Esther stiffened, ’’Sis...?"
"I was so enticed by the food that I forgot I was dieting."
...
"That bitch...!" Esther stood in the garden area of the Eve Mansion, her chest heaving.
She had put efforts into making sure that Ruby and Ella would never talk again. The misunderstandings between them ran so deep and Ruby even got engaged to Max.
Yet, Ella not only made peace with Ruby but she had invited her to Eve Mansion?
Last time, Ella even asked her not to come to Eve Mansion recklessly because it was an inconvenience to Adrian!
But now, she happily brought Ruby here and the servants treated Ruby with more respect than her. When has she ever been treated with such indifference?
’Woof’
Esther was startled.
When she moved, a small shadow flitted in front of her. Esther dodged to the side to avoid the attack.
’Woof woof woof’
Riri barked even more violently, aiming at Esther again.
Esther raised her leg, aiming a ruthless kick at the puppy.
However, at the last moment, she lost her balance. As sharp claws dug into her hands. "Ahh!"
Esther glanced at the kitten dangling from her hand.
"What’s happening here?"
At Ella’s voice, the two little animals huddled together, shaking slightly.
"Sis, where have you gotten these strays from..."
’Pak’
Esther’s face whipped to the side at the impact of the slap. After a moment, she slowly raised her head and looked at Ella with reddening eyes.
’Pak’
The second slap landed even more crisply, making Esther stagger.
If the first slap had caught her off guard, the second slap had totally been out of her expectations.
"Sis... you... you actually..."
"First, they are not strays. Second, how... dare you try to kick Riri?" There was a tremble in Ella’s voice.
When Esther met her gaze, gooseflesh broke out on her skin. There was something different about the way Ella looked right then and such a look, Esther had never seen before on her face.
It made her instinctively retreat, "Sis, I d-didn’t..."
"You didn’t?" Ella laughed coldly, "Riri and Lala are mischievous. When they go out to play in the garden, either I sit in front of the live CCTV or ask someone else to do it. Are you still going to deny it?"
Perhaps sensing the oddities in Ella’s emotions, Riri and Lala rushed to her.
Ruby patted her back quietly.
Ella blinked and the rage that tethered on the edge inside her, simmered a bit, "Get out."
Esther turned around and stormed off, her eyes burning with malice and unshed tears.
Later that evening, Ella made the arrangements and sent Ruby back to the Ambrose Mansion.
In the Eve Mansion, the atmosphere was a little ambiguous after Ruby’s departure.
There was pin drop silence in the main hall and the servants were huddled with each other in a few corners.
"You go..."
"No, you go..."
"Did you not hear what happened?"
"I have offended her before... I cannot take the risk..."
"What’s happening here?" At Bertha’s sharp voice, the young maids were frightened, "Working hours are not over yet and you are huddling here to gossip..."
"We dare not...!" One of the young maids cried out, "It’s just that..."
She approached Bertha and whispered something in her ears. Hearing her words, Bertha turned to look at a little distance.
Ella was sitting on the couch in the living room. On her lap, little Riri was curled comfortably. Little Lala sat on her shoulder, peeking at the book in Ella’s hand.
’’Miss Yu, you haven’t eaten anything in a while... Shall I start the preparations for supper?" Bertha approached Ella.
When Ella did not respond immediately, Bertha hesitated to ask again.
Bertha had never thought that there would come a day where the servants in the Eve Mansion would be intimidated to approach Ella.
Yet she couldn’t deny that there was something so different about Ella’s aura, that made it difficult for one to slight her. She laughed and joked all the same but at times, she was more dangerous than one would expect her to be.
After a few minutes passed, Bertha still did not get a response. Hesitating, she opened her mouth, "Miss Yu..."
Ella snapped out of her daze and looked up, "What?"
"Shall I start preparing supper?"
"No need, Bertha. I am not hungry," Ella said as she stroked Riri. Unconsciously, her gaze drifted off to the dining table that was still decorated with the food that Esther had brought.
When Bertha followed her gaze, she frowned. Without Ella’s permission, the servants did not dare to touch those things?
But seeing Ella’s complicated gaze, Bertha couldn’t tell if Ella wanted to eat the things Esther brought or have them thrown away.
Just as Bertha was feeling conflicted about whether to ask her or not, Ella spoke up, "Don’t throw all that away."
Bertha was stunned, "Miss Yu, you want to..."
"Send samples of it to the hospital for testing. I want the results by tomorrow."
Bertha’s eyes widened when the implications of those words registered in her mind. "Yes." She hurriedly retreated.
Ella carried Riri and Lala and turned to walk upstairs.
At this moment, there was the sound of hurried footsteps from the entrance.
"Miss Yu, there is a man outside..."
Ella halted in her tracks and turned to the maid, "He says he has been ordered to deliver something here."
Ella paused, "Did you ask where he is from?"
The young maid paused, looking a bit confused for a moment, "He said he is from some auction house..."
"Is it... Vermilion Bird Auction House?" As the young maid nodded vigorously, Ella’s eyes widened, "Invite him in. Quickly."
While waiting for the person, various thoughts raced in Ella’s mind.
For someone from the Vermilion Bird Auction house to show up at the Eve Mansion, what are the odds that it was related to Adrian’s brother?
Ella placed Riri and Lala down before she pulled out her phone to call Adrian but after a series of attempts, the call did not go through.
At this moment, the young maid returned with a middle-aged man in tow. In his hands, the middle aged man held a long telescope case kind of tube.
