CHAPTER 301: MEETING A LITTLE FAWN

Ronan had just walked after Ruby when his path was blocked by a few men.

"Dr. Knight, how is the development of the research centre going so far?"

All of them were people he had business with, "Gentlemen, how about we discuss it later and..."

His words trailed off when he spotted Kade walking out of the place, right after Ruby.

And the light in his eyes dulled completely.

’’I am Jasmine, don’t you remember me?" Jasmine felt wronged when she approached Kade, only to be treated like a stranger, "We are classmates and actually, my father is one of the Directors in King Empires..."

She felt embarrassed talking about it as if she was introducing herself but at this point, it seemed like he completely had no impression of her.

"And I even gifted you... the stuff you liked..." Her face flushed.

Kade sighed, "You mean... those hentais?"

Jasmine bit her bottom lips.

"You might have some misunderstandings regarding my preferences."

’’But Ella said..." Jasmine trailed off suddenly, realizing that she probably had been tricked. She hurriedly chased after Kade.

Kade suddenly stopped.

When he looked at her from above his shoulder, there was a distinct coldness in his usually playful eyes,"You said you are the daughter of one of the directors. Being seen together with you will only lead people to misunderstand that I am conspiring against my elder brother."

Jasmine froze.

He did not say another word before he turned around and left but it was like she could hear what he did not say:

’Stay away from me.’

On the other hand, once Kade was out of the hall, he turned to check.

Seeing that Jasmine had not followed him, he sighed in relief.

He might have been a bit harsh on her but he couldn’t be seen interacting with people connected to the company.

’Or with how some of those old geezers are, they would attempt to pit me against my brother again!’

"Ah, excellence comes with a price. Wherever I go, I attract bees and butterflies..." Mumbling to himself, Kade swayed into the Imperial gardens.

’Rustle’

Kade stiffened, his eyes narrowed, "Who is there?" His eyes examined the brightly lit place but there was nobody in sight.

Kade frowned. Was it just an illusion?

Sighing, he turned to leave when—

’Rustle’

The sound halted him in his tracks.

When he turned, he spotted a flash of white behind the bushes.

Kade’s eyes narrowed, "Alright, since you won’t show yourself, let me call the authorities over. I will see if you still continue to hide..."

As he spoke, he had already grabbed his phone.

But before he could move, he heard a soft and feminine voice... it was so hushed that it was almost inaudible.

Kade took slow steps towards the bush, "Are you a guest?" For some reason, his voice came out soft as well.

But there was no response.

"Did you perhaps lose your way?" As Kade spoke, he squatted and swiped the bush with one hand.

His gaze locked with a pair of wide doe-eyes.

"You... You..." The girl immediately raised her hand to cover her face.

"Wait, I mean you no harm. I am just trying to help you out!" Sensing her vigilance, Kade retreated by a step.

The girl slowly rose to her feet, her fists dangling tightly by her sides.

It was only then was Kade able to have a proper look at her.

She barely looked to be in her early 20s.

Her hair was tied in a low bun and her face was bare of any makeup yet it could not hide her beauty...

Kade did not know if his eyes were playing tricks on him but she looked like a harmless fawn to him. There was something so innocent about the way she stood there, her wide eyes looking at him warily.

And then he noted that unlike the other ladies who were dressed to the nines, she was simply wearing a loose top and plain black leggings.

What stood out was the pristine fur coat that was draped over her.

At one glance, Kade could tell that it was not cheap at all and given his understanding of the fashion world, he was sure it was one of the few rare goods.

"Are you here with a guest...?" Kade looked at the girl whose nose and cheeks had turned red from being in the cold.

He took a small step towards her, "I can help you find your family—Ahh!"

His words hadn’t even finished when the girl swung her fist, blowing dirt straight into his eyes.

Kade staggered a few steps back as he rubbed his eyes vigorously.

Only after a few seconds did he manage to calm the burning sensation in his eyes.

Blinking away his tears, he gazed forward instinctively, "What do you think you are doing..." His words lodged themselves back in his throat when he realized that he was the only person standing in the place.

Except, for the patrolling guards who looked over in ’concern’.

Kade’s eyes narrowed, "Did you see another person here?"

They shook their heads before leaving.

Kade sighed. Whose vile face did he see the first thing in the morning today?

Ah, wasn’t it Knight who visited me in the main mansion today? I will settle scores with him later!

Groaning, he turned to leave.

But he had barely taken a step when he halted in his tracks.

Kade crossed the bushes where the girl was hiding earlier. As expected, there were two fist sized holes in the ground from where she had dug up the soil to attack him.

Kade almost laughed in anger. He was out to do a good deed and this is what he got?

Was his excellence so blinding that people started holding a grudge against him without rhyme or reason?

Kade groaned again, ready to leave this time.

But he had barely taken a step forward when he stepped on something.

Taking a small step back, he squatted and picked up a thin diamond chain that had a delicate flower pendant attached to it.

He fiddled it around in his grip, his eyes narrowed as he recalled the situation from before.

And then, in a flash, he remembered spotting a glint in the girl’s neck when she stood up.

"Little fawn, you better not let me find you through this thing," Kade twirled the pendant in his hand before he stood up, pushing it into his pocket.
