CHAPTER 309: MY HUSBAND

Snatching a vase from the corner, Ella smashed it against the windowpane of the door.

As the glass shattered, Ella tried to push open the door, only to realize that there was a lock hanging outside.

Ella hurriedly pulled a thin hairpin out of her hair.

Shards rained down as she shoved her arm through, ignoring the sting of glass.

’Crash’

The lock landed on the floor.

The door creaked open.

Relief washed through her like a wave and she staggered forward. But her steps faltered almost instantly when she spotted Adrian approaching her with steady steps.

Ella winced internally and mentally prepared herself to face the man...

But just then, she realized that something was amiss.

Adrian’s posture did not seem as steady and he was enshrouded in a ferocious aura. She flinched when she met his eyes, crimson and indecipherable.

Ella took a small step back, slowly letting her gaze travel down. And it was then that she saw a trail of blood behind Adrian as he strode towards her.

Her eyes widened and a suffocating pressure built in her heart. But before she could say a word, she was pulled into a familiar embrace, "You are fine..." Adrian kissed the crown of her hair, "You are fine."

"I... I am fine," Ella didn’t know how she managed to find her voice.

"Adrian, what happened..." As the man hugged her tighter, Ella raised her hand to hug him back.

But her entire body froze when she felt a wet sensation on her palms.

When she raised her hand, her palm was covered in Adrian’s blood.

Ella inhaled a shaky breath, pushing down the suffocating thoughts that rose in her heart.

"Come... Let’s go," she tugged at Adrian’s hand.

The man did not release her. Instead, his head slumped into the crook of her neck and his entire weight pressed down on her.

Ella staggered a few steps back. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she supported him with both her hands.

With all these injuries, he managed to stay conscious just to find her?

The thought made her heart twist.

"Stop them!"

Ella hadn’t even turned to leave when the guards covered the entire hall of the Yu Mansion, blocking every path to the main door.

Ella’s face hardened.

She supported Adrian to a nearby chair and helped him down as her gaze traced over the people in the hallway.

Ella’s gaze briefly paused on Esther who was standing at the door, stark naked, barely wrapped in a sheet before her eyes landed on her mother who lowered her gaze.

Ella turned to Mr. Yu, "I should have known from the very beginning."

Mr. Yu frowned, "Who are you using that sarcastic tone with? Apologize!"

"Apologize?" Ella chuckled, "These days, I couldn’t understand why you were keen on inviting me here. At first, I had my suspicions but then I thought maybe you have changed your ways and maybe you really miss me."

Mrs. Yu frowned, "Ella..."

"But, it was quite foolish of me," As she spoke, she stepped forward, stopping at a little distance from them, "After the crisis that Yu family went through recently, Mr. Yu probably realized that he couldn’t offend Adrian. So, this is the plan he cooked?"

"Ella! How can you talk to our father like this? Are you this ungrateful?"

Ella’s gaze snapped to Esther, "Dress yourself up before you talk to me. The sight of you disgusts me so much right now."

"You..."

Ella turned to Mr. Yu, her voice turned icier, "You realized that Adrian was backing me up all this time. The crisis you business faced made you realize that you also need a backer like this, who can shield you from winds and storms."

Mr. Yu’s expressions faltered for a moment, "You... I truly underestimated you!"

Ella remained unaffected by his threatening tone, "You invited me here in hopes that Adrian would follow me. Because without me, you’d never be able to reach him. And when he came here, you got your hopes high. If your good daughter, Esther, could seduce her sister’s husband, wouldn’t it be the best of both worlds?"

"Husband?!"

A pin drop silence lingered in the place as the Yu couple looked at Ella in disbelief.

"Your good daughter wanted you to believe that I am Adrian’s mistress so she probably did not tell you about our true relationship. Why don’t you ask her properly?"

"Esther, what is she saying?" Mr. Yu closed his eyes the moment he turned to his daughter.

Esther hurriedly wrapped the sheets tighter around her, barely recovering from the shock, "Dad, I..."

When everyone turned, Ella had opened the door to the guest room. And before they could register anything, a shadow whirred past them.

In a matter of a few seconds, Riri had already rushed to the entrance as he ran out of the mansion.

"What do you think you are doing?" Mr. Yu turned to Ella.

"The chaos here has unsettled my pets. Is it my fault?" Ella crossed her arms in front of her chest, "It would be better if you clear the crowd here and let us go..."

"Absurd!" Mr. Yu pinched the spot between his brows, "You cannot leave."

Ella looked at the man with a conflicted gaze, "Things have come to this. There is still time for you to retreat..."

"Mr. King is unconscious. We cannot allow you to take him out of here and brainwash him against us. Once he wakes up, I will talk to him. Right now, you are not going anywhere."

"Have you made your decision?" Ella’s eyes darkened when Mr. Yu motioned towards the guards.

"Put them in different rooms," Mr. Yu ordered.

Ella smiled suddenly. But it was the kind of smile that startled everyone.

"Enter."

The moment Ella’s words fell, the sound of a gunshot reverberated inside the mansion.

Ji Yan stepped inside followed by numerous shadow guards who immediately enveloped the place, taking down all of Mr. Yu’s men within the blink of an eye.

’Woof’ Riri followed after them.

"You... You sent the dog out on purpose! You wanted to alert his men!"

Ella looked at the man calmly.
