Reborn To Defy The Alpha
Chapter 28: Our Chance
CHAPTER 28: OUR CHANCE
Lyra and Lena walked briskly down the hallway. The closer they got to Nikki’s room, the more their hearts raced. Lyra shot her sister a quick, conspiratorial glance before raising her fist and pounding on the door.
"Lady Nikki! Open up!" Lena called, voice breathless and strained.
There was a pause. Then a sharp, irritated voice snapped from inside, dripping venom. "Who the hell is banging on my door like some fucking lunatic?"
The door flew open so violently that both girls flinched. Nikki stood there, hair tousled, eyes blazing — her expression the perfect storm of fury and exhaustion. Her robe hung loosely around her, one shoulder bare, but the anger radiating from her made her look anything but soft.
"What the hell is wrong with you two?" she snapped. "Why would you knock like that? I’ve already had a shit day, and the last thing I need is you two idiots making it worse."
Lena swallowed hard, eyes darting down. "We... we just—"
"Don’t even start," Nikki cut in sharply. "Why are you even here instead of doing what you were told to do?" Her glare could have melted steel.
Lyra opened her mouth to speak, but Nikki didn’t let her. "Aren’t you supposed to be watching that bitch? What the fuck are you doing standing here like lost pups?"
Lyra’s jaw clenched, her nails digging into her palm. Will you just shut up and let us talk? she thought bitterly. But she knew better than to voice it. Nikki was nothing but a spoiled brat hiding behind the Alpha’s favor. If not for that, a mere Omega like her wouldn’t dare talk to sub-betas the way she did.
"Well?" Nikki demanded, stepping closer, her gaze darting between them. "What are you waiting for? Why the hell aren’t you watching her?"
Lena shifted uneasily, her voice trembling as she tried again. "Lady Nikki, something happened—"
Nikki’s eyes narrowed, her irritation sharpening. "Something happened?" she repeated, cutting Lena off before she could finish her word. "And what exactly could be so important that you thought it was a good idea to disturb me like this?"
"It’s that filth," Lyra said.
That caught Nikki’s attention instantly. Her expression shifted, the faintest spark of curiosity flickering beneath the irritation. "What about her?" she asked warily, her gaze darting between the sisters. "What did she do now?"
Lena stepped in, voice trembling but eager. "We... we caught her going inside Roff’s room."
Lyra nodded quickly to confirm it, her eyes gleaming. "We both saw it...and my mother."
For a heartbeat, Nikki just stared, her brows knitting in confusion. "So?" she asked flatly. "And what exactly am I supposed to do with—" She stopped mid-sentence, the meaning sinking in. Her eyes widened slightly, tone shifting from irritation to sharp intrigue. "Wait. She went inside where?"
Lyra and Lena exhaled almost in unison, relief flashing across their faces. Finally, she understood.
"Inside Roff’s room," Lena repeated.
Nikki’s frown deepened, her voice tight. "Why the hell would she go in there?"
"It doesn’t matter," Lyra cut in quickly, her tone brimming with satisfaction. "What matters is that everyone knows what Roff and his friends are like. That bitch getting caught in his room will make the Alpha punish her severely."
"Or even chase her out of the pack," Lena added, eyes glinting.
Nikki’s lips curved into a slow, delighted smile. "Or even kill her for betraying him," she said, voice dripping with glee.
Lyra and Lena exchanged a smirk, nodding in agreement.
"Oh, I love the way you two think," Nikki purred, her anger now replaced with wicked amusement.
Lyra straightened a little, pride flickering in her eyes, while Lena flushed, smiling shyly at the praise. "Thank you, Lady Nikki," they said almost in unison, their voices soft but eager.
Nikki tilted her head, eyes gleaming with sudden purpose. "Lena," she said sharply, already turning toward her room, "go report this to my father. Tell him exactly what you saw — every single detail. Make sure he understands that she walked into Roff’s room of her own free will."
Lena blinked, startled but quick to nod. "Y–yes, My Lady," she stammered, trying to keep up.
"And you," Nikki added, pointing at Lyra with a lazy flick of her wrist, "come help me get dressed. If I’d known I’d be witnessing something this entertaining later, I wouldn’t have changed out of my clothes so early." Her lips curved in that self-satisfied, knowing smirk that always made the sisters tense and fascinated all at once.
Lyra straightened immediately. "Of course, Lady Nikki," she said, her voice quick and obedient, though her eyes gleamed with thinly veiled excitement.
Lena hesitated only a moment longer, glancing at her sister before rushing off down the hall. Lyra followed Nikki into the room, her hands already moving to pull open the wardrobe doors as Nikki tossed her robe aside without hesitation, muttering under her breath, "This is going to be fun."

Nikki’s heels clicked sharply against the marble as they stormed down the hallway, now dressed in pink satin mini dress that hugged her figure, a cropped blazer tossed over her shoulders, and glossy stilettos that announced her every step. Lyra and Lena flanked her, barely containing their excitement beneath composed faces, while Eberhard walked ahead of them, his steps heavy and measured.
Eberhard’s deep voice broke the tense silence. "Are you girls absolutely sure of what you saw?" he asked, his tone clipped but laced with urgency.
"Yes, Sir Eberhard," Lyra said quickly, nodding so fast her hair bounced. "We saw her went into Roff’s room herself willing."
Lena nodded eagerly beside her. "We swear, sir. We wouldn’t lie about something like this."
Eberhard’s lips twitched into a grim smile. "Oh, this is good," he murmured, almost to himself. "The goddess is still on my side."
Nikki smirked at that, her voice dripping with venomous excitement. "Then this is our chance. Father, make sure that filth is truly punished this time — better yet, make sure she’s killed."
"Watch your mouth, Nikki." Eberhard’s head snapped toward her, his glare sharp and his tone dangerously low.
