Chapter 309 -309-Mental Plane
CHAPTER 309: CHAPTER309-MENTAL PLANE
Lava Island was engulfed in thick black smoke that seemed to cover everything in sight. Within this toxic cloud, many powerful creatures lurked.
Using Eye of Insight, Daniel carefully observed the hidden monsters on the island.
These creatures ranged from level 200 to 300, with tiers varying from bronze-tier to silver-rank.
In addition, the island’s volcanoes seemed to be in an active state, ready to erupt with deadly flames at any moment!
What surprised Daniel even more was that Lava Island was filled with numerous rifts in space.
It was clear that the space here was extremely unstable.
Because of Daniel’s heightened sensitivity to space, he could feel that this island was positioned at the intersection of two different spaces.
This anomaly caused the entire Lava Island to be impossible to fly over or teleport to.
Milla, however, seemed completely unfazed by the conditions on Lava Island. After arriving, she stretched out comfortably.
"Lord Daniel, we’ve finally arrived. Don’t you think this world is fascinating?"
"To be honest, when I first left my homeland and arrived at another continent, I felt much the same as you."
"Different continents have different rules. You only truly realize the existence of these rules when you leave your homeland."
Daniel nodded lightly, still adjusting to the rules of this world.
"It does feel a bit strange," he admitted.
He hadn’t realized when he had become so accustomed to flying, but walking, something so natural, didn’t feel bad either.
As they walked forward, the two casually chatted.
The space here was chaotic, and even Milla couldn’t open a portal.
But when Daniel checked, he found that his Flashback skill still worked perfectly.
"Lava Island has several portals," Milla explained, "but except for the one leading to the Mental Plane, the other portals’ locations are unpredictable."
She continued as she effortlessly passed through a spatial rift. Without hesitation, Daniel followed her into the rift.
Normally, spatial rifts would lead to random locations, but both Milla and Daniel had very high luck. So, despite the randomness, the destination seemed to always align with their intended direction.
After passing through a few more rifts, Daniel found himself standing in a wide and flat land.
Unlike the rest of Lava Island, this place was free from flames and lava. There weren’t even any rifts in space, making it feel like a stable area.
It was clear that this was the center of Lava Island.
Along the way, both Daniel and Milla had been attacked numerous times by the island’s creatures.
However, these creatures couldn’t harm them in the slightest.
Their attacks seemed more like suicide attempts.
At the center of Lava Island stood a massive purple rock.
The surface of the rock emitted a faint glow.
Milla casually summoned the key to the Mental Plane from her backpack space.
Seeing that she had the key, Daniel refrained from using his Universal Gauntlet.
On the other hand, Milla had already moved closer to the rock.
She gently touched its surface and began to speak.
"I’ve been to the Mental Plane twice. I have to say, it’s a truly interesting place."
"Lord Daniel, I believe you’ll find it fascinating as well."
At this point, Milla paused, and a strange expression appeared on her face.
"However, I won’t be entering this plane with you this time. I’m afraid I’ll be hunted by someone inside."
"As soon as I step in, they’ll realize I’m not their match in their realm."
Daniel nodded, not pressing further. Instead, he straightforwardly said,
"No problem. I can enter on my own."
Daniel’s reasoning was simple: for his mission, as long as he entered the Mental Plane, he would complete the task. He could just leave after that.
After all, the task didn’t specify how long he had to stay in the plane.
However, if entering other planes required a specific token, that would make it very inconvenient for the creatures of the Origin Land.
Not everyone had a Universal Gauntlet, after all.
Even if they could enter other planes, their abilities would be heavily restricted.
This limitation was similar to when Daniel had entered the Divine Realm—while the Angel of Gold and Silver received substantial buffs, outsiders like him were severely weakened.
Thus, entering an unfamiliar plane was a dangerous task for an awakener from the Origin Land.
One had to admit, the difficulty of this task was no small feat.
Not only did one need to locate portals to other planes, but surviving after entering was equally important.
Had he accepted this task in his earlier state, the chances of success would have been almost nonexistent!
Milla placed the token in her hand onto the surface of the purple rock.
Surprisingly, the purple key adhered directly to the rock’s surface.
At the same time, an incredibly complex array of runes began to appear on the rock’s surface.
As the array shimmered with light, the entire rock transformed into a massive portal.
However, to Daniel’s surprise, the surface of the portal was covered in molten lava!
Almost simultaneously, the lava that had enveloped Lava Island suddenly receded!
The volcanic ash that had once filled the entire island seemed to be drawn toward the purple rock, collecting on its surface.
In an instant, Lava Island was devoid of any flames.
Without the volcanic ash as a shield, the creatures on Lava Island were exposed for the first time.
But without their familiar cover of ash, the creatures seemed to panic, desperately fleeing in every direction.
For the creatures of Lava Island, life without the volcanic ash was unbearable.
Daniel even saw several creatures showing signs of suffocation, ultimately collapsing and dying on the ground.
Milla smiled lightly and said,
"These creatures have mutated. They can only breathe in the volcanic ash."
"Now that the ash is being pulled into the portal, they’re experiencing suffocation."
"It’s like how creatures on land can’t breathe underwater freely."
"I’ll wait here for you, Lord Daniel. From here on, you’re free to do as you wish."
