Regression of the Genius Extra
Chapter 66 -: 66, Adventurers Guild
CHAPTER 66: CHAPTER: 66, ADVENTURERS GUILD
Within the Whiteburn City atop the titanic dragon skull
A bustling market was lively with activity as many children and worker’s voices rang loudly.
Among them, was walking a man in all black, wearing a fearsome demonic mask and headed towards a particular building. At the entrance of the building was written in bold white letters on a large sign was ’Whiteburn Adventurer Guild’.
Inside, many adventurers in various clothing with each of their own particular weapons and gears chatted and partied with their team members. Some of them had just returned from their expedition and were on the counter handing over their commission.
The receptionist skillfully checked their request and examined the material and hunted monsters before taking out their payments and handing them over.
The people gladly took their payments and went to sit at an empty table within the guild, ordering food and planning their next hunt.
The scene was lively when suddenly the door opened and the man with the fearsome mask entered.
Everyone went silent as soon as they saw him entering. The lively atmosphere was now one of tense gloom and deathly silence. Nobody uttered a single word as the masked man ignored their tense expression and headed to the receptionist counter.
The receptionist tried to keep her composure but heart didn’t listen to her, making the professional smile on her face look forced and nervous.
Approaching the counter, he opened a shadowy space and took out many corpses of monsters. But these were not the regular monsters. These monsters were from the ’Land Below’. The forest below the huge skull of the dragon filled with darkness day and night without any light.
These monsters, if alive, would’ve been much fiercer and violent than the monsters outside. Though the monster material and items from these were much more valuable in the market, no adventure would want to go there to hunt.
Because even though the monsters are mostly ranging from level 40-60, which many of the adventurers here have already reached and can easily take care of regular monsters within that level. But the monsters from the Land Below are different. They are much stronger than the average monsters within that level.
Even if some parties can take care of the monsters, they still wouldn’t take commissions from there. Not any other reason but the death curse you can get if you get injured by the monsters.
The Death curse is as named, a curse that after afflicted, would begin to wear the body out. The curse takes a very slow effect, but the result is the same every time, the bearer’s death.
The curse would eat at your muscles, hollow your bones out and slowly drain your energy bit by bit. It will slowly drain your life, leaving nothing but the skinny corpse.
Even a full team wouldn’t go down to that place unless they have enough money for the cure or they are strong enough to be unscathed in the hunt.
But this mysterious man with the fearsome mask... He appeared about a month ago in this city and directly went to the land below. It wasn’t the going part that shocked everyone; the shocking thing was that he came out completely unscathed, not even a torn fabric of his cloth and he killed ten level 50 monsters in that one visit.
After taking out all of the monsters he hunted, the masked man placed 5 commission papers on the counter signing for the receptionist to proceed through them.
The receptionist looked through the papers nervously and after looking through all of them while the masked man was standing; she confirmed the materials and items.
"Mr.Shadow, The commissions and items have been verified, here’s your payment. Please keep up the good work." She said with relief and took out the five pouches filled with money provided by the commissioners.
Shadow looked at the pouches, and collected them in the same black space from the counter without reaching his hand.
Among everyone’s nervous gaze, He strolled to the commission board and picked another five commissions related to the Land Below. He then went to the counter and registered them under his name.
The receptionist quickly registered them and handed them over. Shadow looked around and finding nothing else interesting, he left the guild hall with calm steps.
After everyone saw that he left, they all sighed with relief. The tension in the room slowly dissipated, replaced by the earlier liveliness.
"Hey! Did you hear? Mr. Shadow has killed about 106 monsters from the land below in the one month he appeared in the city. Just what kind of monstrous power he has, I wonder." An adventurer said to his team members with a smile that clearly showed bitterness.
"Yeah! His strength is monstrous, that even the guild master acknowledges." Another stated.
"Fool! The guild master was the one who helped him register as an adventurer."
"Yeah, but I find something strange. No one has ever seen his face nor have they ever heard his voice. He mostly talks in sign language or writes things down without speaking." Another adventurer from the next table said, making everyone realize the strangeness.
"Do you think he fought an incredibly high level monster and the injury from the battle left him with his face so deformed that he had to hide it, while his voice was also lost?" another person guessed from the other side.
"Nonsense! Can’t you see that cold and unbothered way he behaves like he sees our human race beneath him? He is definitely a human shaped monster that somehow gained sanity and is trying to be a part of human society." A drunken burly man said, making all of them shudder at the possibility.
There have been countless human-like monsters throughout the history of the Kaiser Empire. Some were allies that had gained sanity while some infiltrated as spies for the enemies.
"But what if he’s just a normal human who’s just shy?" A young girl who looked to be 15-17, clearly a newbie among all these experienced people. She had pink hair with a set of twin blades on her hips.
"Hahaha! C’mon Joe! Don’t you see his coldness? He’s clearly not shy as he did many things a shy person wouldn’t dare to do. Also why are you defending him? Don’t tell me you have a thing for him?" Someone teased her.
"You!" Joe’s cheeks flushed red at the teasing and she grumpily resumed eating.
