Chapter 70 -: 70, Dying Wish
CHAPTER 70: CHAPTER: 70, DYING WISH
After Dainsleif killed the three assassins that pursued the young, he went close to him, Asking Rex in his mind, "So, what were you saying about his usefulness?"
"I feel like he has the bloodline of some gods blessed. If you were to make him a vessel then your growth rate would increase significantly." Rex stated.
"Hmm... Who are you? And why were those people after your life?’ Dainsleif asked the young man who was lying there and didn’t seem to have long to live.
The young man also knew that and said to him with the last bit of strength he had left, "T-They were evil worshippers and were after me because of my family background. Please notify the Temple of this incident and ask them for help"
Dainsleif frowned after hearing about evil worshippers and even more when he heard about the Temple in Whiteburn. After all, this was one of the few temples who were infiltrated by evil worshippers. So, he knew that even if he informed them about this incident, they would likely just pretend to investigate and then rule it as a mishap on their part and that they were the only worshippers found.
He looked at the young man, seemingly to recognize him a bit, "Are you Silas Graves? The last son of the Marquis Graves family?"
The young man looked at him with bitterness and nodded in agreement.
"Let’s make a deal."
Silas looked at him with puzzlement, "What kind of deal? And what can I offer when I will die soon?" He asked. His injuries were severe with most of his blood lost. There doesn’t seem to be anything he can leverage in a deal.
"I will avenge you and your family by eliminating all the evil worshippers in Whiteburn, in exchange I will be taking your identity after your death." Dainsleif offered.
Silas Graves smiled bitterly at this and said helplessly, "You can do whatever you want. I will be dying anyway. But if you can truly avenge me and my family, I will be grateful to you even in death."
"So, it’s a deal!" Dain asked.
Silas nodded helplessly and affirmed, "Deal."
"Rex, Begin rolling!" Dainsleif ordered in his head.
"Okay!"
As soon as Rex’s words fell, a deathly aura surrounded the two as it slowly turned into a black vortex. As the terrifying and fear-inducing aura of death got close, Silas’s body began to disintegrate and merge into the vortex.
Silas’s vision blurred and eventually turned into nothingness, his consciousness fading within the world.
On the other side, the dark vortex slowly turned small with Dainsleif at the center. His body began to change, like slowly wearing a full-body outer suit fabric by fabric. His skin turned pale, face and body structure becoming more and more like Silas. And eventually, it stopped after the only person left alive and standing in the scene was only the newly transformed Silas in perfect condition.
At that moment, four status window notifications rang in his ears.
[Layer Created: Layer of Shadow and Mysteries]
[Layer Host: Silas Graves]
[Layer Locked]
[Layer Unlock Requirements: Reach Level 100.]
With that, his new identity was created.
{A/N: He’ll be called ’Silas’ until he switches Layers}
After that, a massive amount of memories poured into his head, the memories of the original Silas Graves.
He now knew how his family was massacred, how his life had been for the last five years and how he was ridiculed and humiliated throughout the time he was under the temple’s protection.

The next day...
"What do you mean all of those fools died?! They were all above level 60 who were sent to kill a mere level 10 with no skills to fight back!" An old man shouted furiously at his subordinates who relayed the message.
They were in a dark area with only the lights of the lamps faintly illuminating the hall. All the people inside the hall wore dark crimson robes who sat on the upper seats and everyone who were either on the ground kneeling or were standing on the side all wore deep blue robes with their hats reaching much higher like the height of a witch’s hat.
"I-I apologize to the branch leader! We are still unaware. The three of them were found this morning on the path leading to the Whiteburn Checkpoint. Two of them had their bodies decapitated into two while the last one had his head chopped off.
"All of their cuts were clean like they were all killed in one strike each. The experts suggest that the person who killed them and protected him is a Master in a certain Weapon Arts which is most likely a sword." The subordinates kneeling on the ground explained, terrified of the old man.
"A Sword Master? The same rank of mastery as me. This would be troublesome to deal with. What happened to that remaining Graves? How is his condition?" The branch leader asked the subordinate.
"Reporting to Branch Leader! It is seen that Silas Graves was found gravely injured in his house after the previous night’s incident. It is probably that same night when he met the mysterious person who protected him while running away from the three of them. Also, the three people we stationed to keep an eye on him were all killed and dumped from the upper lands to the lower lands."
"It seems the person is helping him in his path. Unlike all the other times, Silas Graves didn’t report the incident to the Temple, which clearly indicates the mysterious person’s strength and his information networks as he seems to suspect our spies of infiltrating The Temple. So they obviously wouldn’t take matters regarding the evil worshippers seriously." The subordinates explained everything in detail.
The old branch manager frowned and thought about it for a moment. Eventually he looked at the subordinates and ordered, "Keep an eye on that boy and everyone he interacts with from now on and report immediately. We’ll have to eliminate both of them before the grand summoning! Dismiss!"
