Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 160: Because I Am Jealous
CHAPTER 160: BECAUSE I AM JEALOUS
Lamai feels as if she is trapped under a large rock, with Adam holding all her limbs, and she can’t find any way to escape.
Her hands are pinned, and her legs are tied up. She knows she has no way of getting out of Adam’s hold.
"Let me go!" she says, frowning.
"Not until you tell me why you are upset at me," Adam says.
Lamai’s eyes widen, hearing Adam’s question. She didn’t expect Adam to notice her cold attitude towards him. Of course, her actions were very obvious, only she was oblivious to them and didn’t realize she was showing more than she wanted.
"What are you talking about?" Lamai tries to deflect and, while trying to struggle out of Adam’s grip, she is out of luck. Adam’s grip is as strong as a giant constrictor snake. She won’t be able to get away from him unless he releases her on his own accord.
"Come on, do you think I haven’t noticed you giving me the cold shoulder ever since your dad started training me? Out with it already, what’s your problem with me?" Adam asks.
"It’s nothing, you must be seeing things," Lamai says, turning her face away from Adam. She doesn’t want to admit to Adam that the reason for her cold treatment towards him is because of jealousy.
"I am sure I am not seeing things, and if you want to stay in this position, then be my guest. I don’t mind it at all," Adam says with a smug smile.
This frustrates Lamai.
"Someone might see us," she says, trying a different kind of tactic. But Adam’s not someone she can manipulate so easily.
"Don’t worry, there’s no one here, and even if they were, I wouldn’t mind them watching," Adam says, smirking. Further annoying Lamai.
She starts panicking a little as she realizes that Adam is hell bent on making her confess.
Then Lamai thinks of something else. With resolution, she expresses what she is going to do if Adam doesn’t let her go. "If you don’t let go of me, I am going to scream," she says, a smug smile appears on her face, thinking that she has won.
Adam is a little surprised by Lamai’s declaration, but he is not someone who can be threatened.
"If you do, I am going to kiss you," Adam says.
His words hit Lamai like a high-caliber bullet. Her eyes widen with shock as she can’t believe what she just heard. ’Did I hear that right?’ she thinks.
"Wh...what?" she asks again.
"If you dare start screaming, I am going to kiss you and make sure that you won’t be able to make a sound," Adam says with utmost confidence.
Lamai blushes hard as she takes in what Adam just said. Now that the image has been put inside her head by Adam, she couldn’t help but imagine it, making her feel even more flustered.
The image of her unable to move as Adam has her pinned while their lips are locked and their tongues twirl around each other in a tangled mess.
Being a vivid imaginer, she made it a lot worse for herself as she couldn’t stop thinking about it. Her heart starts racing while she feels her downstairs getting warm.
’Fuck~ I can believe I am getting turned on by this,’ Lamai thinks, but what else would she feel in such a situation? A very handsome man has her pinned while his lips are just inches away from hers, and he is claiming he is going to kiss her.
Not many women would be able to resist, but Lamai has to.
"You are bluffing," she says. She doesn’t believe Adam is going to kiss her.
Adam smirks, which makes Lamai feel a chill run down her spine.
"I am not someone who likes to bluff," Adam says and begins leaning in closer. His lips are inching towards hers for a kiss.
Lamai’s eyes widen as she unconsciously parts her lips to welcome the kiss; her lips quiver while she feels goosebumps appear all over her body.
’Oh my god, this is happening,’ She thinks as Adam’s lips are just an inch away from hers. She can feel his fresh breath brush against her lips, enticing her to lean in closer and seal them herself, but Lamai stops herself.
"Wait! Okay, stop! I will talk!" Lamai says, panicked.
Adam stops, his lips just half an inch away from touching hers. He smiles a pulls away, though a little disappointed that he couldn’t kiss her plump, soft-looking lips, he still won. So for now, he is content.
"I was giving you the cold shoulder because..." Lamai says, but stops from embarrassment and turns her head away to avoid eye contact with him.
"Because?" Adam continues to probe.
"Because I got jealous..." Lamai says weakly.
Adam is surprised. ’Why would she be jealous of me?’ He thinks and finally lets go of her wrist. Now that she has started speaking, he doesn’t have to hold her down anymore.
Adam sits up, and Lamai follows. She gives Adam an annoyed glare while rubbing her wrist.
"Jealous? Why?" Adam asks.
"Because, ever since my father started training you. He can’t stop talking about you. He has become obsessed with the idea of you winning the world championship," Lamai says.
"That’s kinda creepy, knowing an old man can’t think about anything but me," Adam jokes, earning another annoyed glare from Lamai.
"Not funny," She says.
"Okay, so the old man is really passionate about making me a world champion, so?" Adam asks.
"It’s just... I... I wanted to be the one to bring it to him... These past few days, he has been so happy that he found you... I wanted to be the one to make him happy and proud... But now, he cares more about you than his own daughter," Lamai says, sounding hurt.
Adam finally understands why Lamai is so mad, and he can’t blame her for feeling this way. He kinda understands her, though his situation is not the same; seeing his father replace his mother with another woman made him feel like shit.
Though in Lamai’s case, her father has put his hopes of winning the big gold on Adam rather than her own daughter. He can see that Lamai has put everything into this sport, working day and night to be better, only for Adam to walk in and steal all the spotlight.
"Then why don’t you win the championship and give it to him. I am sure he would be much happier if his own blood won it instead of just a guy whom he trains," Adam says.
"It’s not that simple. I don’t think I can go that far. I am not like you. I am not someone who can learn everything by just looking at it," Lamai says, defeated.
"All I hear is excuses," Adam says. His tone becomes a little strict.
Lamai glares at Adam again.
"Easy for you to say, everything comes easy to you," Lamai fires back.
"Yes, they do, but that doesn’t mean you should stop striving for better," Adam says back.
"Tell me, how do you know you are not going to win?" Adam asks.
"I... I don’t have it in me. I am not like the current world champion. She is far more skilled than me..." Lamai says.
"Have you fought her before?" Adam asks.
"No..." Lamai answers.
"Then how are you so sure that you are going to lose?" Adam asks.
Lamai stares at Adam, unable to answer him.
"You won’t know until you are standing before her inside the cage, and if you can get inside that cage with her, you have a fifty percent chance of winning. I like those odds," Adam says.
Lamai feels better hearing Adam’s words.
"Stop doubting yourself. You need to prove to yourself before anyone that you can win it, and once you do. Nobody can stop you. Not even your father," Adam says.
"Thank you," Lamai says, feeling even better.
"I believe in you," Adam says.
"Huh?" Lamai questions.
"I will be your first believer. I believe you can become the world champion. You have me in your corner," Adam says.
Lamai looks at Adam wide-eyed, surprised. His words make her feel butterflies in her stomach. No one has ever said that to her.
Everyone in her life always told her that she was good, but not good enough to win the big one, except Adam.
This is all she needed, just one voice to believe in her that she can do it. If she just has one supporter, she can carry the flame all the way to the top.
"Seriously?" She asks.
"Dead serious. I know you are going to be the world champion and make your father the proudest man in the world," Adam says.
Lamai smiles. A fiery determination lights up in her eyes.
"Okay, I am gonna do it. I am going to win the big one and prove to everyone that I am a world champion prospect," Lamai says.
"Not just a prospect, you are the future world champion," Adam corrects her.
Lamai smiles, leans in, and hugs him. Adam is surprised, but then he smiles and hugs her back. "Thank you..." Lamai says. Adam can hear that she is getting a little emotional.
He doesn’t say anything; he just rubs her back.
"Okay *sniff* Let’s get back to your training," Lamai pulls away, blushing, before standing up and resuming Adam’s training.
Adam smiles and follows her lead. He stands up and continues with his training.
