Regression - Second Chance At Life
Chapter 85: The Real Cassie
CHAPTER 85: THE REAL CASSIE
Adam was just talking and teasing Leila when he suddenly felt some hostility directed towards him, like a sixth sense.
He turns his head to look at the table Cassie’s friends are occupying and sees a young man looking at him with hostility. As soon as Adam makes eye contact with him, he turns his head away, clearly caught off guard by Adam’s challenge.
Adam smirks. He doesn’t know why this guy is suddenly showing hostility towards him, but seeing the girls in the friend group, he assumes that some girl in the group might have expressed her attraction towards him.
Adam is not wrong. But it’s not the girls sitting around the table, but Cassie, who is the reason for the hostility being directed at him.
The guy clearly likes Cassie, so seeing her act all embarrassed and trying to calm her friends down and not to out her before Adam pissed him off.
The girls at the table noticed Adam looking in their direction and immediately started squealing and smiling. Some of them even waved back at Adam, smiling ear to ear. Seeing this, Adam smiles and waves back at them, earning another squeal from the girls.
Seeing them act like this, the guys who are with them roll their eyes, annoyed. Sure, they can admit that Adam looks handsome, but there is no reason for these girls to act as if he is some kind of idol or movie star.
"Ah," Adam suddenly fakes pain as Leila slaps his arm, annoyed. "What?" He asks, looking at her.
"What are you doing?" Leila asks, annoyed. Adam was just talking to her, but he had to turn and look at those other girls, making her jealous.
"Nothing. I was just saying hi to Cassie’s friends," Adam says.
"Don’t give me that bullshit, you only did so because they are girls," Leila says.
"So what, they are still friends, and they were the ones who waved at me first," Adam justifies.
"Well, it doesn’t matter. It’s still annoying," Leila says.
Adam smirks, seeing Leila getting jealous over such small things. "Oh, are you perhaps jealous?" Adam asks teasingly.
"Why would I be jealous?" Leila asks, folding her arms below her breasts and making them pop out a little more.
"Well, maybe because you like me," Adam says, finally saying it out right.
Leila blushes and stares at Adam with wide eyes.
"In your dreams. Why would I like you? Did you forget, I am at least four years older than you? Talk about being a narcissist," Leila says, rolling her eyes.
"Sure, I am a narcissist, hehe," Adam chuckles, but doesn’t push it further with her. He already knows what Leila thinks about him, so no matter how much she pretends not to like him, it’s as clear as day.
Anyone with an eye can tell that Leila likes Adam with the way she looks at him and how she gets jealous seeing him give his attention to other girls.
Adam moves on and starts serving other customers as they come and go.
Suddenly, there is commotion from where Cassie’s friends are sitting. The guy who was showing hostility towards Adam suddenly stood up, grabbed Cassie’s hand, and dragged her out of the restaurant while their friends let out loud, teasing woos.
Adam saw this, and he also saw that Cassie was hesitant, but she still went along to not cause a scene inside the restaurant.
Adam looks at Leila, who looks back at him.
"Do you think I should go and check what’s happening?" Adam asks.
"I think you should. Cassie seemed hesitant," Leila says.
Adam nods and walks out of the restaurant as well.
Cassie’s friends, who saw Adam go after Cassie and that guy, started getting excited, wondering what would happen.
Everyone at the table knew the guy, John, has had a crush on Cassie for years and had recently asked her out, but he still hadn’t gotten an answer from her.
But then Cassie goes on to talk about a very handsome guy who just became her coworker, and rumors started flying around about Cassie liking someone else.
So the girls decided to give Cassie’s workplace, and some of their guy friends tagged along, including John.
They all knew something like this might happen, as John is known for having a loose fuse. Seeing Cassie act shy and embarrassed clearly triggered something in him, and with the girls constantly talking about how handsome Adam is and how they wouldn’t mind cheating on their boyfriends with him pushed John to the limit.
So he confronted Cassie in front of everyone.
He asked her to give him an answer. So when Cassie hesitated to speak before her friends, John grabbed her hand and dragged her out.

Adam walks out and looks around, finding no sign of Cassie or that guy anywhere, so he walks around towards the back and hears arguing.
He stops and peeks in to see Cassie and John arguing.
"Come on, Cassie, for how long are we going to keep hiding this? Just come out with it. Tell them that we are already dating," John says.
Adam is surprised to hear this. He never expected that Cassie was already in a relationship, given how she was acting around him; it didn’t look like someone who was in a relationship.
This just confirmed to Adam that Cassie is not the girl that she pretends to be; she also has a darker side to her.
"You know I can’t do that right? If my parents found out I am dating someone, they would kill me," Cassie says.
A very clear lie.
"How does telling our friends lead to your parents finding out?" John asks, frustrated.
"Come on, do you really think our friends can keep their mouths shut. The moment we tell them we are dating, it will be all over the campus, and will definitely reach my parents. I can’t take that risk," Cassie says.
Adam is surprised by how good Cassie is at bullshitting. If he hadn’t seen Cassie being all flirty with him, even he would have fallen for this act.
She is clearly a master manipulator.
"And what about that guy in there?" John asks.
"What about him?" Cassie asks, acting completely clueless.
"Then why were your friends teasing you about him. Are you cheating on me?" John asks.
"Really? Do you think I am that type of girl? You know me better than anyone. I love you, and I would never cheat on you. I just told them that a very handsome guy recently joined the cafe. It was them who assumed that I liked him and started spreading unnecessary rumors," Cassie says. Lies piling up on each other.
"You think he is handsome?" John gets defensive.
"Come on, even you can admit that Adam is very handsome, but you know that you are the only man I have eyes for, right?" Cassie says flirtatiously and places her hand on John’s chest.
Under Cassie’s flirtatious tone, John immediately folds. This man clearly has no reasoning ability.
"Fine, I can admit that he is handsome. But are you really not lying to me? You don’t have any feelings for him?" John asks.
"Silly, like I said, I only have eyes for you and no one else. How about this, after my shift, let’s go back to your place and I will let you fuck me in the ass," Cassie says, slowly sliding her hand down and grabbing John’s dick.
John immediately loses all sense of reasoning and nods his head. Cassie giggles and gives John a kiss.
’I knew something was off about her. Well, I have no business here,’ Adam thinks with a smirk and leaves.
Adam always felt that Cassie was putting on a facade, but he couldn’t entirely see through it. He just thought she was a girl who changes her colors according to the people around her, but it turns out, she is even more twisted than he thought.
She is clearly playing with that guy’s feelings, and like an idiot, he is letting her do it.
Well, Adam doesn’t care. If Cassie wants to be flirty with him, let her be. It’s not like Adam is interested in her. She is a good-looking girl, and Adam would definitely enjoy messing around with her, but she is clearly no girlfriend material. Adam thought of her the same from the first day he saw her.
Adam returns to to restaurant under the prying eyes of Cassie’s friends and Leila.
"What happened?" Leila asked, and she was close enough for the friend group to hear as well.
"Nothing, just sounded like a friendly argument, so I let them have their privacy," Adam says with a smile.
Hearing his answer, Leila sighs in relief, while Cassie’s friend group seems disappointed. They were clearly expecting some kind of drama, but didn’t get any.
Adam returns to work, and after a few minutes, John and Cassie return. Cassie also goes back to working while John joins his friends.
They start questioning him about what happened, but he just lies that nothing happened, and Cassie is still not ready for a relationship.
An hour and a half later, the morning shift ends. Cassie’s friends have already left. John left especially in a hurry, probably to his home, and fix some shit before Cassie arrives.
Cassie leaves early, leaving only Adam and Leila alone to enjoy their lunch together.
Leila won’t admit it, but she loved having Adam all to herself for this lunch. With no Cassie sticking to him, she doesn’t have to feel jealous or annoyed.
