CHAPTER 329: CHAPTER 329: MYTHS AND TRUTH

Kael by no means had any sentimental feelings toward his father.

He merely thought of his and the pride’s whereabouts out of curiosity.

After all, he was back in the wild plains, the place where he started from before moving to the forest.

He was curious as to what had become of his father from this life, what had happened to him and his consorts?

The last time he saw them, just before he left, his father was just in between an ordinary lion and a tier 2 lion in terms of evolution.

There was Big Aunt, Uncle, Pavel, Katari’s mother, and Olivia’s mother. Even if Kael was almost detached from any feelings of emotional attachment and sentiment toward these people, he was aware that some of his consorts cared to know.

Currently, he was looking out for them. He would be able to instantly identify any lion once their identity marks were added to the Lion System so he had to be patient.

Of all the lions in Eridoria who had joined the Lion System, none of them were from the Hot Lion Pride. It was too early and idiotic to assume that something unfortunate had happened to them.

But that possibility could not be ruled out.

Kael sighed. The wings on his back shook slightly as he prepared to fly off.

The reason he was standing on this pile of dead bodies was not because he wanted to feel cool or anything, although that thought definitely crossed his mind and played a role in the decision-making.

He stood at such a high point because he thought that it would allow him to absorb more Conquering Essence at a faster rate.

Indeed, Kael had been absorbing Conquering Essence for hours, making sure to collect every last lingering dreg left.

It wasn’t long before Kael found out that the Conquering Essence didn’t necessarily obey the laws of physics. They floated around like bubbles and only became visible to the ordinary eye when they were condensed.

Even if he stood at a lower point, he would still be able to absorb the Conquering Essence at the same rate.

The reason why he was not absorbing the Conquering Essence thoroughly and as fast as he wanted was because of his current power level.

Kael flapped his wings, flying into the air and disturbing the structure of the body pile he ascended from. Some carcasses that were hanging by with a limb or so fell to the dried red ground.

Kael landed on the ground soon after. Not far from him was one of the carcass piles. A group of bears surrounded and climbed this carcass pile, feasting on the flesh to their heart’s content.

Some of the bears which were Frost Bears used their powers to go around freezing as many carcasses as they could find.

Some of them were already planning on entering hibernation in this place. They could see it, they might successfully evolve to the next level with all this valuable meat lying around.

Kael’s senses picked up the individual members of his army in the surroundings. They were all busy with eating as much as they could. Soon, they would eat so much and fall asleep.

Once they wake up, more meat-eaters will be here to join them in the feast.

"Katari," Kael called out.

A tall lioness with well-combed brown-yellow fur appeared beside him. Her deep black eyes stared at his golden form, awaiting his order.

"Chloe has found what we have been looking for," Kael said.

"Oh," Katari said. Her face remained expressionless.

"I want to go and meet her, and I want you to come with me," Kael added.

"Okay," Katari said. Kael didn’t need to ask, she was blind to follow him wherever he went unless he specifically asked her not to follow him.

The mere thought of Chloe reminded Katari of Isaiah and the attack they had staged in Kael. The scar on her neck gave her a numbing sensation.

She would naturally follow Kael.

Kael then spent some time with his army, talking with Priya, Ruda, Eidel, Diane, and Zabita.

Apart from Priya who had already entered the tier 4 level, the rest were still at tier 3. It was high time they started working on their evolution.

Kael personally wanted to help them out. They had the Conquering Essence pool which gave them an edge even amongst other regular lionesses, but it wasn’t enough, they had to get stronger.

Their apparent weakness was starting to irritate Kael, even though he didn’t know he could feel this way toward them. Although, he hid this feeling of irritation well.

His feeling was not without justification. He was already a tier 4 Primordial Lion with access to a variety of powers, and he had two Conquering Essence pools and was already a Lion King. Even then, he was still getting stronger and his main Conquering Essence pool was getting deeper and wider.

Every day, he was inching closer and closer to tier 5. He hadn’t used his Conqueror Mode since he evolved so he himself did not know just how powerful he was.

The fact remained that if Kael continued at this pace, he could reach tier 5 before some of his lionesses could reach tier 4.

He was not worried about having the same tier as them. Even at the same tier, it would take their combined power and cooperation before they could be a threat to him combat-wise.

All he wanted was for his subordinates to be strong enough to support him.

The lions in heaven who wanted him dead won’t show mercy. They might target his consorts and other things they think he cares about once they find him. By then, Kael hopes to have enough power and a working kingdom structure to protect them. But he still wished for them to be strong enough to protect themselves, just in case.

Luckily, he didn’t have to show his irritation, not yet.

Eidel was already making efforts in that area. Recently, she had been prioritizing the bodies and flesh of fire-type creatures. She intended to use them as a boost aiding her in moving to the next level.

Even now, she had gathered a stockpile of fire buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and hyenas. There were even some creatures that had used two different flames when they were alive, like that hyena with a cold blue flame.

Eidel could feel that she was getting close to comprehending and integrating the core concept and nature of her power.

The flame.

She already had two, represented by the two tails behind her. One with the Original Flames, the second with Soul Flame.

She was still unsure whether evolving to tier 4 would give her a new flame automatically or if she had to intentionally try to learn how to control a new flame before she could evolve.

She chatted with N’bayé and Priya and discovered that he would have to be intentional about it while also going with the flow.

She didn’t understand what they meant clearly but accepted it.

Kael was curious about Eidel’s future evolutions. She had grown another tail after evolving to tier 3 which had surprised him.

He wondered if she would continue growing a new tail every time she gained control over a new flame.

It was just like the foxes, except that their tails naturally multiplied whenever they evolved, even if they did not gain control over a new type of flame.

The foxes reminded Kael of the mythological creature from fictional stories in his past life. Kitsune, the nine-tailed fox.

He wondered if foxes would reach a bottleneck once they achieved nine tails like their mythological cousin.

Or could it be that the kitsune was a real creature and it was related to these foxes of the much greater universe? Kael’s thoughts churned with deep curiosity.

Kael was starting to wonder if those myths from his past life were just myths or if there was some semblance of truth in them.

The winged zebra he saw earlier bore a striking resemblance to the Pegasus of the myths. The other horned zebra with the power of vegetation also bore a strong resemblance to unicorns.

There were dragons too, and werewolves were a possibility, and now his mind returned to the kitsune.

There was also the fact that the current Isaiah who was locked up in the Iron Blood Pyramid looked very similar to humans.

Something wasn’t adding up and Kael didn’t know why.

Why had he been reincarnated in the first place? There were so many planets to choose from, so many souls to pick, but he was the one that had been randomly chosen.

Randomly?

The more Kael thought about these things, the more he started to wonder if his reincarnation was random.

It wasn’t statistically sound.

Perhaps, there was a deeper mystery behind everything. The similarities between Earth myths and Isaiah’s human resemblance.

It was impossible that all of those things were just a simple coincidence.

Alas, Kael had nothing but theories and ended up with more questions than he already had.
