Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 390: Just Princes
CHAPTER 390: CHAPTER 390: JUST PRINCES
Alyrat held the baby goat to her chest, feeling as the kid wriggled around but failed to escape.
It could barely move under Alyrat’s hold as it was merely equivalent to a tier 2 being while Alyrat entered tier 4 a month ago.
Compared to the little goat, she was impossibly strong.
As Alyrat walked back to her father, her eyes wandered over to check those who were looking at her.
Wei, the blue-skinned girl her father had ’disowned’ stood at one corner. She was with her father, Burdo.
She looked at Alyrat with a trace of envy. Ever since Kael had revoked her status, Wei had received less better treatment from those around her.
Her father had become extra harsh to her, and her father’s consorts now looked at her with contempt. Even lionesses that she did not know would openly say bad things about her.
Wei was still tier 3. Her resources had been cut so it was much harder for her to get to tier 4 than the Princes and Kael’s daughters.
He might be weaker than her peers but she remembered everything. Every subtle insult, every negative action, every look of disdain. She remembered it all.
She knew that they all saw her as that chosen child who fell from grace. At first, she wasn’t too bothered, but now, it had become increasingly frustrating and affected her mentally.
There was always a stark contrast between how Kael’s children were treated and how she was treated. She once used to move about with them like they were on the same level.
Katari doesn’t even bother to call her for training anymore.
Alyrat, who used to talk with her, now focused on her own activities. It became clear to Wei that they had just been friends due to environmental factors, not out of genuine closeness.
Subconsciously, Wei had begun to look for ways to get that treatment again. She wanted it, desperately.
Without her knowing, she was starting to entertain the idea of those trials that Kael would soon set.
But all this was her business, no one cared about Wei’s situation. If anything, most lionesses wanted her to die and get out of the way.
Alyrat continued walking. She also saw her six brothers who were already crowned as Lion Princes of the Ol-mytee Clan.
She felt a bit indignant. Her father didn’t just have sons, he also had daughters, and she was one of them.
Olivia, Chloe, Zabita, and Katari had all given birth to daughters for Kael.
It wasn’t that Kael ignored them, he just insisted that he wanted Princes. His clan, his rules.
For some reason, Kael didn’t want any lion princesses, just princes. Katari, her mother had claimed that Kael’s vision was just and reasonable, that he was keeping it pure.
Alyrat didn’t understand any of those excuses. But she understood that her mother loved the King more than she loved her own daughter.
This awoke a very strong sense of jealousy in Alyrat, something that she never told anyone.
And speaking of her mother, Katari stood like a statue amongst the crowd, visible to everyone unlike other days.
Her eyes were locked on Alyrat’s movement, watching the four-armed girl’s every movement with a calm gaze.
Alyrat glanced at her from the corner of her eyes before facing forward and continued walking toward Kael.
She reached the black pillow throne where Kael sat down casually. The king was sitting at the edge with his back resting on the elevated part of the pillow throne.
"Come, hand it to me," Kael said softly to his daughter. He wore a charming smile, the kind that was hard to see beyond the confines of the Iron Blood Pyramid.
Alyrat forced a smile as she handed the struggling baby goat to her father. It wasn’t that she was intentionally pretending, it was just that Kael had made everyone realize how unpredictable he was.
Everyone, except Katari, was always on alert when around him because anything could happen to anyone.
And Katari, ever so eager to fulfill Kael’s wishes, will be there to manifest his will for him and cut down anything that so much as puts a frown on his face.
Kael’s eyes gleamed with knowledge, he was aware. It was all for the long term.
’Fear of Love...’
Kael grabbed the bleating kid by the limb, holding it upside down. The mother goat, seeing this from afar, screamed like a mad market woman.
’No one can maintain a perfect balance of fear and love. Even if they did, they would exhaust themselves.’
He brought the baby goat to his face, eyeing the small tender neck with wonder and amusement.
Alyrat stood to the side, waiting for him to start.
’At the end, love doesn’t mean compliance. Some can still love me and remain disloyal.
Fear is absolute, it’s peak, a deterring effect....’
As Kael repeated one of the lectures on power that he had been telling himself for some years, he brought the goat to his mouth.
Right before the mother’s eyes, Kael opened his mouth, exposed his menacing golden fangs, and bit down on the neck of the baby goat.
The baby goat screamed and cried, it trashed around as it hung in the air. Kael held that one singular limb by the hoof firm and hard. The baby goat had no way of escaping.
Kael felt his fangs sinking into the goat’s neck. Piercing the soft flesh, the throat muscles, and the windpipe.
Blood dropped down from the neck, wetting the fur and falling on Kael’s clothes. The king didn’t mind that he was being stained with the blood of this dying baby goat.
The cries of the goat became darker and hoarser as the strong stench of iron filled Kael’s nose. The mother watched in horror as the king tore off a piece of flesh from her child.
For a moment, she lost the will to live, seeing the king she had once served obediently, feasting joyfully in her child’s body.
Then her survival instincts kicked in, she would soon experience the same fate.
Soon, the head of the baby goat hung by some bones and one flesh.
"Here, you can have the rest," Kael said as he handed the rest of the goat to Alyrat.
Alyrat was surprised, she hadn’t expected Kael to just eat the neck and hand the remaining to her.
"Thank you, father," She replied and gently took the still-warm body of the baby goat.
Meanwhile, now that the goat was out of his hands, Kael stood up from his pillow throne, quickly getting the attention of the guests.
All his consorts were here, Burdo with his consorts and his permitted friends were here too. And now, the newly crowned Princes had just entered.
Kael would have continued eating if he had not noticed the princes entering just now.
"The princes are all here," Kael began, his voice deep, masculine, and magnetic.
Everyone instantly ceased their chatter and paid attention to him.
"I requested this banquet here, not just to celebrate, but to legitimize the position of my princes with power, just like I did with my consorts...
For the lion system, I’ve been meaning to employ some admins,"
