Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 411: You Have Served Me Well
CHAPTER 411: CHAPTER 411: YOU HAVE SERVED ME WELL
"You’re Majesty, when will we be setting out?" Commander Bibi asked while trying to hide his eagerness.
The appearance of the Primordial Wolf would mean that he would eventually have to retire from his position as caste leader.
It wasn’t something he was looking forward to actually. Sometimes, he wished he were the Primordial Wolf and there were times he felt that the King shared the same wishes with him.
Even if this was a Primordial, he was still a foreigner and shared no sense of belonging with them.
However, what Bibi was eager for was the process of finding this wolf. They were basically trying to hunt the Primordial of hunting.
There was a feeling of exhilaration and danger that accompanied it.
Not to mention that finding this Primordial was going to have guaranteed benefits for everyone. Subjects of the kingdom have seen the effects on the Vultures.
Those vultures now operate with a sense of purpose and focus these days. They always talked about their ’missions’ or stacking up their ’zombies’.
Most didn’t know what those terminologies meant but there was evidence that the vultures were now living a better and more fulfilling life.
Their civilization, even though it was a vassal, now had the guidance of their affiliated law to shape their future culture and life.
And it was all thanks to their Primordial, Marcus.
Commander Bibi wanted this too.
Back when he betrayed his father for Kael, he had been power hungry and impatient. Now, he was still as impatient but not as power hungry.
The most significant change to Bibi from his past self was his loyalty to Kael. If Kael said that the Primordial being the leader of the wolves was a good thing, then Bibi would not question it.
These thoughts flashed in Bibi’s mind as he spoke to the king while strolling. Even though he would regrettably have to give up his position, he would remain obedient.
Kael had just finished his conversation with Exalon and had commanded the golden screen away from his face.
Hearing Bibi’s question, a greyish-gold light flashed in Kael’s eyes.
"Soon, we’ll be heading out in two batches.
First, my children and consorts will go, escorted by some wolf guards. They’ll simply be going to gain experience and find the Primordial.
The next batch will be me, you, and some caste leaders. The objective of the second batch is not just to secure the Primordial Wolf, but to secure the whole planet and its resources.
This is not a confrontation, but rather a covert exercise. I believe it is better to interact with this civilization in a way that preserves its culture and does not impact the way of life for the inhabitants.
At least, that’s what N’bayé suggests.
We don’t need a lot of creatures for this operation, everyone else can stay behind," Kael said with a steady gaze at the artificial horizon.
Bibi frowned, "Your Majesty, forgive me if I’m overstepping my boundaries," He said with caution.
Kael blinked, "Go on,"
"Wouldn’t it be better if you did not send your children and consorts along with the first batch? It might be dangerous," Bibi said, speaking from a point of concern.
This was uncharted territory and he personally didn’t know what they were facing.
Kael smiled, "Have you seen the images of the image we have captured?" He asked.
Bibi shook his head, "Not yet, Your Majesty,"
"The planet and its inhabitants are not necessarily weak, but...I have some ideas on how to deal with this type of civilization," Kael said, his eyes exuding confidence.
The warp signals had transmitted images of Planet Kareem for him. He had seen what needed to be seen. The satellites, the tall buildings, and most of all, the humans.
It brought Kael a sense of familiarity.
As for why humans existed here? Kael had no clue. He would have to find out for himself.
Already, the arkship had used its advanced operating system and warp signals to infiltrate the so-called Internet of this world.
It wasn’t that hard and they had already managed to gather as much information as possible and were compiling them into info orbs for later studies.
Kael decided not to study them, not yet. He wanted to maintain that element of amusement as he ventured into his foreign yet familiar world for the first time.
As of now, the Arkship was not in the same star system with Planet Kareem.
Rather, they had discovered a gas planet in another star system close by. This gas giant was surprisingly an Origin World and was filled with Origin Essence.
Although, there was no life existing on the planet, that was due to harsh conditions. Even if the planet could not start its own abiogenesis, other lifeforms that subscribed to the use of Origin Essence would have no trouble surviving there.
Kael was using this gas planet as a temporary base to hide. He could use the gas planet to refill the Origin Essence reserves while also creating a distortion field just like with Eridoria.
Except, this time, no one knew he was here. The chances of anyone bombarding the galaxy with warp signals from all angles were very low.
And while the arkship remained here, inside the gas planet, with all its inhabitants, the king would divide his focus into finding the Primordial Wolf.
This was a matter that involved his own personal growth so he had to take it seriously.
The amusement from the peculiar civilization was just a side-dish that he would try to enjoy if the inhabitants let him.
If not...
"Nalii would be staying behind, just in case," Kael added.
Commander Bibi nodded, no longer pressing the matter. If the king says he knows how to handle it, then he wouldn’t argue.
He still didn’t like the idea of the consorts and children of the king going out like that as the first batch. If it were him, Bibi would have divided everything into almost ten invasion waves.
He didn’t have the desire to be as subtle as Kael wanted.
"Aren’t you worried about what will happen to you once we find the Primordial Wolf?" Kael asked.
"You seem more interested in the process of finding it, haven’t you thought about the aftermath?" He added.
Commander Bibi shook his head and gave the king a melancholic smile, "Your Majesty, I’ve been serving you since the beginning, even before you officially established the kingdom.
Not once have you complained about how I handle my duties. Ow would like to assume that it means I have been doing a good job..."
Bibi paused, and Kael waited for him to continue.
"But if Your Majesty judges that my abilities will be insufficient for the operations of the kingdom in the future, I can’t deny that.
It is only reasonable that you find and prepare someone better for that role.
My only regret is that I couldn’t have been more useful,"
Bibi’s words failed to hide the sadness he felt. To others, he probably wasn’t bothered at all.
But to Kael who could see into his very soul with a glance, Bibi was like an open book.
"Bibi, you have done a good job." Kael nodded his head, a satisfied smile on his face.
"You betrayed your father to serve me. Although I used to never trust those who betray their kind, and I still don’t trust them, I have to admit that you have proven your loyalty.
You have served me well, Bibi. Thank you."
It sounded like a farewell between a king and his most trusted general.
And indeed, for the vision I have, your abilities would only restrict me and the entire wolf caste.
If I let you retain your position out of sentiment, you will eventually become incompetent when compared to the others.
I cannot allow that,"
Kael was direct, further casting Bibi’s heart into resolve.
"Aren’t you going to ask what I’ll do with you after we find the Primordial Wolf?" Kael asked. He thinned his lips and looked at Bibi with a serious expression.
Bibi’s breath was held as he subconsciously avoided the king’s gaze. The two walked in silence with some humanoid wolves occasionally bowing to them every now and then.
"Would you dispose of me, Your Majesty?" Bibi asked.
Kael laughed, his shoulders rising and falling in the process, "What if you want to?"
Color drained from Bibi’s face, his ears dropped down to the side, "I’m not sure I can defend myself, Your Majesty." Bibi said truthfully in a pleading manner.
Kael shook his head, "I’m not going to dispose of you, Bibi. You haven’t given me a reason to. If anything, what you deserve is a reward." He said.
Bibi sighed with relief, his pointed ears shot back up.
"So, what will I be doing once the Primordial Wolf comes?" Bibi asked.
He stylishly acted as if he didn’t hear Kael talk about a reward. He was using a lot of willpower to stop his tail from wagging behind him.
Kael thought for a moment before speaking. "When the Primordial Wolf assumes his role, he has to learn things that not just anyone can teach him
I want you to be his advisor. He or she may have a lot of power and it will need someone with experience and a strong mind to provide guidance.
Can you do that for me?"
Bibi beamed a smile, "Definitely, Your Majesty. I won’t disappoint you,"
Kael nodded. Irrespective of the status as a Primordial, Bibi would always be more trustworthy to him.
Putting Bibi as an advisor to the Primordial wasn’t just to provide guidance but also to serve as covert surveillance and a vehicle for enforcing loyalty.
Kael wouldn’t explain everything to Bibi, he trusted that Bibi would understand what he needed to know in time.
Of course, all this talk would only be possible if they could catch that Primordial Wolf alive.
Kael just hoped that the Primordial Wolf, wherever it was, wasn’t involved in anything dangerous.
